With nearly 60% of this current ‘epoch’ of life gone extinct, at least within human history, if not the last hundred years or so?, it is only a matter of time for it to be our turn.
Maintaining a nuclear power plant or even mothballing one requires a functioning economy, and electricity grid/network. There are 440 nuclear power plants (?) or is that reactors? Ignoring Fukushima, to stop the rest from going ‘China Syndrome’ there is going to have to be a lot of coal burnt. Plus god knows how many spent (read unstable) fuel rod pools. = a 50 plus year project, they guess??
If we And nature stopped emitting CO2 tonight, the planet would still be 400 ppm + for the next 1,000 years, with zero added CO2.
Nature, as we know it, can not survive the full effects of 400 ppm CO2, which we are going to see in most of our ‘expected’ life times, if we get to live that long )
