Let’s be honest, this LPG Gas refinery is another example of big polluters getting what they want
Power firms to fund LNG port through user pays – but effect is the same for consumers
At an energy summit hosted by Hawke’s Bay Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday morning, big local horticulture and post-harvest, wood processing and irrigation firms took to the stage to talk about how energy costs and supply reliability are affecting them on the ground.
But around the fringes, says Pan Pac Forest Products pulp general manager Roger Jones, the quiet chatter is about Energy Minister Simeon Brown’s big announcements further up-country, to the Auckland Business Chamber.
Brown has confirmed the Government will press on with its proposed $1 billion-plus liquefied natural gas import terminal, despite all-time high global LNG prices. And ministers will impose tougher regulation to manage energy supply in dry winters.

Households don’t use LNG.
Industry uses LNG.
And the biggest industry that needs LNG is Fonterra who use it to dry milk into powder, which they do during the ‘dry season’.
So what National are really doing is ensuring their mates can continue to dry milk powder, which we will all pay for, despite the truth that we don’t really need it anyway…
Officials redacted advice showing ‘low need’ for LNG imports
Advice that government officials tried to redact shows there is “low need” for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility.
A newly unredacted version of modelling commissioned by the Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) was released to RNZ following a complaint to the Ombudsman.
It shows that in some scenarios, no LNG is needed at all.
…This is another example of National allowing Fonterra to write their own laws and lower environmental standards, surely the 88% of us who are not rural should be sick of National running the country purely in the interest of their Dairy mates?
According to the Right, the Left are coming for the family Farm which is hilarious because the entire economy, political system and society in NZ is geared towards Agriculture and yet the Farmers want MORE!

We created a monopoly for them, a monopoly they use to gain the highest price offshore WHICH WE THEN HAVE TO PAY!
How can we compete with 500million Chinese middle class consumers when there is only 5million of us living here?
We sold 49% of our electricity assets to create a $400million irrigation slush fund.
We weakened the methane targets AND we are building Fonterra an LPG terminal AND we are allowing them to secretly write policy to kill off Mike Smith’s legal case against them!
We do all this and YET THE FARMERS STILL WANT MORE!?!?
Oi, Farming community – When are they going to pick up your end of the couch here?
The rural vote represent 12% of the country yet have 100% control of politics, the economy and society AND YET they have the audacity to play the victim like a Karen wearing gumboots!
No matter what the environmental question, Nationals answer is always, ‘More cows’.
Let’s be honest, this LPG Gas refinery is another example of big polluters getting what they want!

How on earth have we been saddled with this egotistical lunatic of a PM? How can’t he see that his LNG environmental catastrophe is a huge joke and no-one, with even half a brain, is interested in pursuing it? It’s simple-mindedness at the extreme and Luxon’s VANITY Project. Does this ‘simpleton’ have any political or intellectual acumen at all? For the good of NZ and its people, stop him now before he wastes more money! We have starving, people living on the streets and he’s hell-bent on some stupid project that can be done a whole lot cheaper using natural Solar, Wind or Hydro. Please CoC, you STOP HIM NOW! Aren’t you all embarrassed already by all the bribes this government has taken??? I sure am!
