New Poll doesn’t see Labour lose ground post allegations

The latest RNZ-Reid Research poll lands in the middle of political controversy — and rather than punishing Labour, it suggests the electorate may be far less reactive to personal allegations than political commentators had assumed.
Grim reading for Luxon as National slips further behind Labour and NZ First climbs
National has slipped further behind Labour in the latest RNZ-Reid Research poll, falling to 30.8% support.

Allegations fail to dent Labour’s polling
Half this poll was taken after the allegations by Jade, it hasn’t had an impact which backs my point that many of the men who were driven out of the Left by the woke allegation-weaponisation culture may actually have sympathy for Chippy.
Labour needs to win back the male voters woke activists chased into the arms of the reactionary right and Chippy falling foul of ‘B-E-L-I-E-V-E all Women’ dogma is one way they do that.
NZ First surge reshapes the minor party battle
The deeper existential problem for the Greens is if they are leap frogged by Winston for the 3rd party stakes which will be a numbing blow to them and allow Winston to be the Kingmaker for a 5th election.
National’s collapse risks splintering the Right vote
If National tumble into the 20’s (and that is entirely possible if they screw up the response to the Iran war and fuel prices), Blue Green voters will want to walk away and vote TOP instead.
One thing to remember about these polls is that Labour always under-polls by around 2 points and National over-polls by around 3 points so the results could be a lot worse for National than is currently being projected.
What this poll ultimately suggests is that voters are far more focused on economic pressure, fuel costs and global instability than on politically charged personal drama. If anything, attempts to weaponise private lives may be losing their potency in an electorate increasingly hardened to media spectacle.

Just wondering, is it a guaranteed thing that TOP would go with Labour?
Good question, small farmer. I wish I knew.
The Greens need to make a big advancement on NZ First to ensure Winston is not kingmaker. They could campaign to decriminalise cannabis for ‘grow your own 5 plants at home’ to capture the younger voters who prefer weed to booze, as well as working class and elderly med users who are unable to afford currently available licensed medical weed.
This would free up police resources to target organised crime. So it’s a win for the get tough on crime crowd as well.
Once the wider public see the benefits of decriminalisation we could look at trying full legalisation (with strict rules) and insulating against the coming recession with a legal and highly taxed green rush. After all weed will get you through times of no money much better than money will get you through times of no weed.
Luxon is like a mixture of flour and water.
Indeed. Tasteless.
