The Octopus Murder Conspiracy – Why Iranians can never trust Americans
The long history between Iran and the United States is shaped by coups, broken trust and geopolitical manipulation — and as tensions rise again, those historical wounds are becoming impossible to ignore.
There are so many ironies in this illegal war with Iran.
The 1953 coup and the roots of Iran’s distrust
The first is that the only reason there is a Theocracy is because America staged a coup in Iran to overthrow their only democratically elected leader in 1953.
Netanyahu’s 40-year nuclear claim timeline
The second is Netanyahu has been claiming Iran was mere moments away from building a nuclear bomb for 40 years!
He claimed this in a Knesset speech in 1992.
He claimed it in a book in 1995.
He claimed it in a US Congress speech in 1996.
He claimed it in a congressional delegation in 2009.
He claimed it at the UN General Assembly in 2012.
He claimed it in a 2015 speech to the US Congress.
He claimed it again in 2018.
And he claimed it last year in numerous 2025 media interviews.
Is there evidence Iran was building a nuclear weapon?
There is no intelligence whatsoever suggesting that the bloody Iranians were about to build a nuclear weapon.
The Octopus Murder Conspiracy explained
The third is one exposed by the Netflix documentary, The Octopus Murder Conspiracy.
Danny Casolaro and the conspiracy that never went away
Danny Casolaro was a journalist working on an explosive book that detailed a domestic rogue CIA campaign that was part organised crime and part corporate greed wedded to a far right Republican agenda.
I first heard of Casolaro in the late 1990s, he was ‘found dead’ in 1991 just as he was finishing this book and the case never stacked up and only added to the very deep suspicion that Casolaro was murdered before the book could be published.
The story starts like any great story does, after picking apart a weird Department of Justice ruling against small tech firm who had provided them with a new software program so advanced that the Department of Justice just decided to steal the tech. From that moment on a bewildering carousel of spooks and rogue spies amalgamate around this story and opens up vast new story lines as Casolaro attempts to trace a crazy cavalcade of conspiracies all emanating out of the CIA and NSA.
The October Surprise theory and Iran’s long memory
One of the threads that Casolaro was following was that Republican operators connected to Reagan withheld the American hostages until after the election to damage Carter’s chances of winning.
The hostages were released minutes after Reagan was sworn in as President.
If it is true and Republican operators paid Iran money to hold onto the hostages to damage Carter’s chances of winning, that means Iran know exactly how duplicitous and corrupt the Americans truly are.
They won’t be tricked again by the Great Satan.
History doesn’t disappear — it accumulates. And when decades of distrust, interference and betrayal collide with modern geopolitics, the result isn’t misunderstanding — it’s inevitability.
