A senior US intelligence official appointed by President Donald Trump abruptly announced he is stepping down from his post on Tuesday, citing misgivings about the administration’s war with Iran.
Joe Kent, who had been serving as the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, posted his resignation letter on X, contradicting the administration’s basis for launching the war and imploring Trump to end it.
“I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran,” Kent wrote in the letter. “Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.”
The resignation is the highest-profile rebuke yet of the war effort from a Trump administration insider and staunch supporter of the MAGA movement, albeit one who instantly drew criticism for alleged antisemitism. It reflects how the conflict is roiling some of Trump’s most high-profile MAGA supporters, like Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly, even though rank-and-file Republicans largely back the president.

He claimed it again in 2018
And he claimed it last year in numerous 2025 media interviews.
There is no intelligence whatsoever that the bloody Iranians were about to build a nuclear weapon.
None and no American Administration over those 40 years were stupid enough to get conned into a war with Iran because every single time their CIA Geeks and Military Goons war game out a fight, it always ends in a blood bath massacre with regional wars, an Iranian Civil war, a couple of American capital ships sunk, Global energy prices exploding and a Refugee crisis that swamps Turkey.
The greatest danger from Trump illegally kidnapping the Venezuelan President and annexing their oil was the self belief that he could get away with ignoring the rules based order.
Trump has horribly miscalculated that Iranian Religious Zealots could be as bullied and bribed as a corrupt revolutionary government.
They are a Theocracy who welcome death, you can’t bribe or threaten them the way you could with a corrupt Venezuelan regime.
Trump and Bibi killed the new Ayatollah’s Dad, Brother and Wife, he wants revenge and the pound of flesh he will demand is $200 a barrel oil.
In his impatience and haste to bully Venezuela, Iran and Cuba into symbolic capituation, so he could hold their scalps up in time for the Opening of the Soccer World Cup before the Midterms, Trump has blundered into an Iranian trap that ratchets up everytime he thrashes around.

Funny how recent global events seem to have prompted some staunch MAGA types to reconsider their views. It’s like some sort of veil has been removed from their eyes. At least some of them.
I’ve noted this myself with some of my family, workmates and neighbours.
As with any leader when actions diverge from their ideals and promises as much as Trump has lately, their supporters pause and reflect.
This could be the chance to discuss things without it ending up a screaming match with both sides walking away thinking the others are fucking idiots.
The first time in years.
With elections approaching, creating a space for dialogue—where people feel heard and understood. Progress may simply be about more individuals engaging in respectful discussions.
MAGA are just as complicit in this mess, what do you expect when you put blind faith in a sex predator and convicted con man as president. Trump has aliented all the allies that would have helped make America great to the point that no one want to be involved. America First means America alone now. You reap what you sow.
Quite frankly the US should consider taking out Netanyahu if Israel think it’s ok to take out Iranian oil facilities. What’s the point of worrying about the Straits if there’s nothing to pass through. Iran are only targeting Qatar because they provoked.

They are scared witless after decades of Iran openly calling for their destruction, firing ballistic missiles at them, having Hezbollah attack them and having Hamas killing them. It is an upside down world indeed though when moronic MAGA faithful call for Trump to stop and Hamas are calling on Iran to stop.
