Is Winston whining about Marsden Point and Vaccine harm to gloss over Ferry fiasco?

NZ First are misrepresenting the facts over Marsden Point..

…and have gone full Cooker over vaccine harm…

…couple of things.
1 – NZ is misrepresenting the Marsden Point issue. The fact is the Strait has been shut down, so we would be in the exact same situation because unrefined Oil couldn’t have gotten through and we never had the capacity in NZ to feed that refinery. So Marsden Point being open wouldn’t protect us from what is happening right now.
Something Shane Jones acknowledged at the time but has changed his tune now…

…as for the full on Cooker stuff on vaccines, the farce here is that this second inquiry is the one that NZ First set FFS!
Here is what the report that NZ First gerrymandered and rebuilt because they were annoyed the first report wasn’t scathing enough for the anti-vaxx electorate that Winston appeals to now, here is what HIS inquiry said…
“Overall, this report concludes that Aotearoa New Zealand did well in responding to the Covid-19 pandemic. On the whole, the decisions taken and methods used during the Covid-19 response were considered and appropriate”
…bahahahahahahahahaha.
Come on, that’s pretty funny. Winston through a tantrum over the first Inquiry, set up this inquiry, set the parameters of the inquiry and the inquiry says…
“Overall, this report concludes that Aotearoa New Zealand did well in responding to the Covid-19 pandemic. On the whole, the decisions taken and methods used during the Covid-19 response were considered and appropriate”
…ouch!
Yes the report found that Auckland was locked down for too long.
How long?
4 days.
Hardly Gallipoli eh?
The other issue was that a specific piece of expert advice about vaccine mandates for people under 18 was not given to ministers. The COVID-19 Vaccine Technical Advisory Group (CV-TAG) gave advice in December 2021 about young people and vaccine mandates. It said, the risk of severe COVID for young people was low, and myocarditis risk after the second Pfizer dose was higher in younger males.
Because of that, it suggested considering allowing young people to work or participate in mandated settings with only one dose instead of two.
That is a thousand light years away from the vaccine harm conspiracies that Winston trades in.
It’s an issue of internal communications not getting up high enough to Ministers to be aware of them, and there’s a whole bunch of reasons why that was so.
- The advice was about mandates, not vaccine safety overall
- Decisions were based on the evidence available at the time
- The vaccine was still considered beneficial overall
Legitimate criticism can be focused on those internal coms as opposed to a shadowy one World Government forcibly injecting us with a vaccine full of microbots requiring a Nuremberg trial public hanging.
This only highlights the Culture War Grievance Industry Winston is willing to milk to corrode institutions and trade in malign conspiracies for votes.
The danger here is that once you enable this spite, it is difficult to pull it back, check out how cray radioactive the Anti-Vaxx Cookers still are…
We are compelled to address the ongoing political charade perpetrated by the usual suspects in our nation’s leadership. These individuals, who bear direct responsibility for the myriad problems plaguing our country – from economic devastation to eroded public trust – must be unequivocally barred from ever seeking or holding political office again. Their repeated failures and self-serving maneuvers have inflicted irreparable harm on New Zealanders, and it is time we declare: enough is enough.
The recently released Phase Two Report of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into COVID-19 Lessons Learned, published on March 10, 2026, serves as yet another example of this entrenched political theater. While it acknowledges some shortcomings in the government’s response – such as overly prolonged restrictions, ignored advice on vaccine risks for young people, and a slow exit from the elimination strategy – it is hamstrung by its narrow terms of reference. This limited scope has conveniently handed the establishment their preferred talking points, allowing them to perpetuate propaganda that distracts from the core issues. The public is once again being led astray, focusing on superficial “lessons learned” rather than confronting the profound failures and actual criminality at play.
Let us be clear: what transpired during the COVID-19 response was not mere incompetence – it was criminal. The mandates, lockdowns, and vaccine rollout decisions resulted in widespread harm, including deaths, maimings, and ongoing long-term health issues for countless New Zealanders. These actions demand not another toothless inquiry, but a full-blown, far-reaching criminal investigation. This must include the immediate seizure of computers, mobile phones, and all electronic devices; a thorough examination of financial records; and the scrutiny of all communications among those involved. Only through such rigorous measures can we uncover the truth, leading to mass arrests, severe sentences, and the forfeiture of assets amassed through these criminal activities as proceeds of crime.
…’mass arrests’, ‘severe sentencing’ and ‘forfeiture of assets” – charming.
That’s the NZ Loyal Party, just one of the many sub 5% cooker parties that mutated and birthed embryonic political movements post the Parliamentary Lawn Protests, (an event made toxic by The Speaker of the House at the time, Trevor Mallard).
They are so cooked, they honestly believe it’s all been some giant conspiracy that will result in peoples trials televised live with denouncements followed by public floggings.
You play to this wilful ignorance at the cost of reason.
While they are misrepresenting Marsden Point and making false insinuations about the vaccine, the cost of dumping the IrEx ferries mounts every week…
Cook Strait ferry project $167m over budget — and key port deals still unsigned
The Cook Strait Ferry Replacement Programme is already $167 million over budget, newly released documents reveal.
The current cost estimate has hit $1.867 billion, already exceeding the $1.7b Crown-tagged contingency approved by Cabinet in March 2025.
The Government is relying on council-owned ports to plug the gap, but the amounts are unknown or not yet approved by ratepayers.

Green Party warns of ‘perfect storm’ as ferry breakdowns disrupt travel and freight
The Green Party is warning that New Zealand is facing a “perfect storm” of transport disruption after the latest ferry breakdowns and cancellations left travellers stranded and freight operators scrambling to move goods between the North and South Islands.
The Interislander’s Kaiārahi has been out of service since Tuesday night because of a technical fault. An Interislander staff member has gone overseas to collect crucial components to fix the stricken ferry.
Meanwhile, a technical fault meant that Bluebridge’s Connemara ferry was also cancelled on Thursday and Friday. Its Picton-Wellington service was scheduled to return to service early on Saturday morning.
“All customers affected by this cancellation have been automatically transferred to an alternative sailing and will receive an updated e-ticket with revised sailing and check-in time,” Bluebridge said on its website.
“If your re-scheduled sailing time doesn’t suit your needs, standby lists will be operating from each direction for affected passengers across subsequent sailings.”
Greens transport spokesperson Julie Anne Genter said that the Interislander fleet had effectively dropped from six ships to four in recent days.
She said the situation highlighted the risks created by the government’s decision to cancel a previous contract for two new Interislander ferries that had already been ordered.

…so, is Winston whining about Marsden Point and Vaccine harm to gloss over Ferry fiasco?

Do read Verity Johnson’s article in Stuff today re EVs etc. Another CoC lie that the closure of the Marsden Point Refinery in 2022 was by the Labour Govt! It was a private commercial decision. And what was spent on the Covid Pandemic was fully budgeted and well spent on keeping our people safe and companies able to keep functioning. Not like Airhead Willis’ spitefest to cancel our iRex ferries wasting $671m – a complete waste of money! Why don’t this ugly CoC and their enablers just shut up? Time for the greedy RW folk to start giving to NZ instead of taking from it.
The question could be “does Winston know the truth?” He is a successful conman in that he still gets support from some as his main skill seems to be disguising his self interest in perks for the few who show him loyalty in return.
Winston is talking shiite because that’s what he does rather frequently now. He’s just embarrassing.
These are the wailings/bleatings of a very desperate politician who is so bitter now he can’t see that he should have already retired and gone out to grass! His Despair, Hopelessness and Lies are comical but he can’t see it. Hey ‘whiny Winnie’ just back off, read the room, and retire gracefully. With another Covid wave out there now – and the NZF voters still down rabbit holes – there may not be as many loonies to vote for NZF come Nov. The unprecedented damage this CoC has inflicted on NZ will take years to fix!
Winston, master of the arts of deception, deflection and Muldoonism.
