Proposed government water reforms will cost ratepayers more – report

News this week that:

“Global ratings agency S&P Global’s latest report on the ever-changing policies on water reform said the latest water service models known as “Local Water Done Well” would not alleviate the agency’s negative outlook bias on some local governments.

S&P said the reforms promised flexibility but also created uncertainty, compared with the “Three Waters” proposal offered by the former Labour Government.

Labour embarked upon 3 Waters to lower the rates costs they knew were coming for our desperately underfunded water infrastructure alongside answering the legal requirements to recognise Māori interests in water.

Dark Ag money funnelled through right wing astroturf influencers convinced Kiwis this was an existential race war and that da Māori was stealing da water, so 3 Waters got scrapped, National’s piss poor version adopted and now you are going to pay more in rates for water.

Your rates are going up because Right Wing Astroturf Influencers used Dark Ag money to trick you into believing ‘da Maaaaaaareeees is stealing da water’.

Meanwhile Māori interests are taking the Government to court again for trashing their legal interests in fresh water, and guess what chumps, they are VERY likely to win that court case…
