The Liberal Agenda: RIP Taylor Hawkins

I’d like to salute the cultural importance to Gen X of the passing of Foo Fighters Drummer, Taylor Hawkins at the alarmingly young age of 50.

Taylor was found with 10 different substances in his blood stream and had an enlarged heart twice the size it should have been.

What an inspiration.

Generation X were born under the existential threat of nuclear annihilation and our hedonism has left us physically apocalyptic.

Where as the Boomers had their Summer of Love to counter the Cuban Missile Crisis, Gen X got the Summer of Debt as  neoliberalm policies stripped us of the cradle to grave life subsidisation the Boomers were so quick to trade away for mobile phones and Holidays in Phukett.

The Foo Fighters understood the impact of this generational wealth theft by the Boomers and they sang sungs of pain and neglect to a generation smart enough to know they were getting fucked but too dumb to do anything about it.

Than I could fit into my head

And all the shit that somehow came along with it

Since I was always caged and now I’m free
