It seems to be part of the human condition that we all hold beliefs we that cling to regardless of whatever arguments against them there might be.

I am no exception.

I am convinced ,for example, that cooperating with each other over life’s essentials ( such as food, shelter ,health and education) is ultimately better for all of us than if we viciously compete with each other for them. …and I assert that belief knowing that others believe the essential rule of human life, as in the rest of nature, is that only the fittest deserve to survive.

I’ve also learned that truth is not always obvious.

For instance, I do not believe 3 Wise Men followed a star over 2000 years ago in search of a divine baby in a manger surrounded by livestock..

Yet I have found that if you peel back the myths and legends, not just in the New and Old Testaments but in the writings of all the other great religions of the world, you will find some ultimate truths which, when realised and acted upon, serve to improve ALL our lives regardless of whether you are convinced there is one God, many Gods or no God at all.

Namely- to be kinder to each other, to treat others as WE would wish to be treated and to do no harm..

And .. that true human worth is not measured by money and possessions but by your value to your family, friends , neighbours and community.

    I too think we achieve more by cooperating than by aggressive competition. “All hail the noodley appendages!”
