…as a rule of thumb, the millisecond you are quoting a Legacy Woke EdgeLord like Tze Ming Mok, is usually a cancel culture step too far.
It’s called the ‘Emily Writes Principle’ in that the moment you are forced as a journalist to quote from a person as radioactively woke as Emily Writes, Dr. Emmy Rākete, Shaneel Lal or anyone else on BlueSky Wellington, you lose the popular argument before the first pronoun.
Mok screaming ‘racist’ at the term ‘Bucket People’ when all those being exposed on social media are Asian is about as effective as Kamala Harris was up against Trump.
She ain’t helping.
Don’t get me wrong, Mok is 100% correct about how you fix this problem, but like most middle class woke identity politics activists, she’s utterly wrong about the symptoms.
Of course cultures that live with enormous population density ravage and pillage any food source, educating those cultures about kaitiakitanga is the solution but ironically enough the white Volk or Orewa have exterminated Māori from Whangaparāoa so there aren’t any around to teach kaitiakitanga.
Mass immigration policies generate these cultural frictions and we ignore that reality at our own peril but Shane using race to play petty games is an enormous hypocrisy because he has enabled the Commercial Fishing Industry to strip the oceans bare while blaming recreational fishers for that depletion!
Everyone is awful in this except the environmentalist desperately trying to protect the rock pools with his protest against ‘Bucket People’.
This has the potential to spiral out of control, you are already getting ‘sweet and sour bucket people’, who when they are challenged while being filmed about what is in their buckets and are saying ‘fuck off’.
Here’s what this situation needs:
- More compassion from everyone in a cost of living crisis and cultural ignorance
- Protect the bloody rock pools with far better policing by fishery officers
- No Shane Jones
- Less woke activists.

A critical piece by Sir Ian Taylor with evidence as to why mining should even exist. It puts to bed the so-called economic bonanza mining returns would assist our economy. It also makes a complete mockery of the Jonzies, Trevor’s and Bob the firsts of this world, who tout the magnificent returns mining would give us. Actually, they are rather embarrassing as they offer no critical thought nor intellect as Sir Ian does, probably why he’s a Sir and they are nobody’s.

I told a lady off for this same ‘gathering’ 25 years ago at a Howick beach and insisted that she put it all back! The risks of immigration, without education, are huge! And as for Shane Jones and his blinkered mining obsession – he will be long gone when the ‘sh&t hits the fan’ so he won’t give a damn – his brand of self-absorbed chauvinism is so typical. What did we do to deserve this? – APATHY, IGNORANCE [and for Shane et al GREED] – it makes me so sad?
We know of Jones ethics and morals, given his porn video exploits on the tax payer which Bob the first supports, so yes Jones certainly not focused on the country’s future but his own. He is a disciple of Trumpism, about ego, narcissism and himself.
Shane can be anti migration. But with our birthrate below 1.6, NZ has no choice but to bludge people off the rest of the world, to maintain our population, and the lifestyle to which we’re all accustomed, otherwise we will go the way of the dodo. So unless Shane is volunteering to inseminate, to boost the population, he should speak more sensibly, when it comes to migration.
I could attach a notice onto his Beehive office door stating “free insemination fridays, inquire within”, next time I’m down there, if that would help break the ice.
