    We salute you Aratere with toots and waves – keeping our needed shipping connections going and our country connected and viable and also thanking the engineers and repair shops.

    We need to coalesce into hard-living ‘glee club’ singing the praises of our present national shipping, particularly ferries. Climate changes will make life more difficult for the marine sector but we need their skills, knowledge, capabilities and to own the infrastructure. Privatise the politicals, run them like a business which can be sued and bankrupted by NZ Inc. But keep our national shipping and railways!

    A car can hit a house, start a gas leak,, even I think recently, plough through a bedroom. And here the police advise that the driver wasn’t hurt. But if you as an ordinary person did hurt this jerk then what? Doesn’t he/she deserve to be hurt, slapped in the face at least?

    Compare the police shooting people dead; somehow the explanation does not match the perceived danger or any harm to the people in blue. The way that we are policed these days leave the ordinary people feeling blue. I think we need to be able to touch and hit people on an insurance matched-contact system called ‘knock-for-knock.* We are being rorted at every level in NZAO and the worse it gets the more fines etc that gummint gets. So let’s drop the pretence that we are a high class small gem of civilisation down here under the insulating cardboard by the air conditioner vent.
