The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog, 3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.
All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.
EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird Bullshit about the UN taking over the world and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

Now we can support these heroes in Israel. I have been thinking why? do Jews get bad treatment when they seem so good? Could it be that elements of the brutal and unlettered bubble up in us like scum on soup, and are motivated by envy and feelings of projection? Just trying to be objective in a spirit of enquiry and bewilderment.

The word antisemitism:
Where does the term semitism come from?
Where does the term semitism come from?
Semitic is rooted in the Biblical name Shem, the son of Noah, who is traditionally thought of as the direct ancestor of the Jews and Arabs. While the word is often thought of as another term for “Jewish,” this is just one of a larger group of people who fall into the category.

What ethnic groups are considered Semitic?
The Semites appeared as a subgroup of the Caucasians; the Arabs were part of the Semites and included southern (the peoples of Himyar and Ethiopia) and northern peoples. Other Semites were the Assyrians, Aramaic-speaking people, and Canaanites, and their languages were quite close to one another.

Who are Palestinians genetically closest to?
In recent years, genetic studies have demonstrated that, at least paternally, the various Jewish ethnic groups and the Palestinians are related to each other. Genetic studies have shown that Jews and Palestinians are closer to each other than the different Jewish groups are to their respective host countries.

We salute you Aratere with toots and waves – keeping our needed shipping connections going and our country connected and viable and also thanking the engineers and repair shops.
We need to coalesce into hard-living ‘glee club’ singing the praises of our present national shipping, particularly ferries. Climate changes will make life more difficult for the marine sector but we need their skills, knowledge, capabilities and to own the infrastructure. Privatise the politicals, run them like a business which can be sued and bankrupted by NZ Inc. But keep our national shipping and railways!
This is good thinking on the trends in our voting from Gordon Campbell.. Which way – looking at what happened in Oz, bewitched, bothered and bewildered just as we are.

On Labour’s Soft Support In The Polls
Tuesday, 12 August 2025, 11:40 am
Article: Gordon Campbell
…Currently, Labour is a receptacle for the widespread public dis-illusionment with the Luxon administration. However, this week’s poll results– which would deliver a hung Parliament in which the centre-right and centre left blocs were tied on 61 seats – flatters to deceive Labour about its chances in Election 2026. Australia can offer an illuminating example of this popularity-by-default during the year before an election. Consider the fate of Peter Dutton’s Liberal-led coalition.
When voters were solely focussed on the many failings of the Albanese government, Dutton’s fortunes rose, such that he looked like the prime minister in waiting. That mood lasted until January 2025, when the election year kicked off in earnest. Voters then began looking at their political options through a different lens. With Dutton,
they began asking: is this really the guy, and is this the party, and are these the policies we want to elect ? And the answer was no, not now, not ever….

…”A vehicle struck a house, but thankfully the driver suffered only minor injuries and is being treated by an ambulance crew,” a police spokesperson said.
A car can hit a house, start a gas leak,, even I think recently, plough through a bedroom. And here the police advise that the driver wasn’t hurt. But if you as an ordinary person did hurt this jerk then what? Doesn’t he/she deserve to be hurt, slapped in the face at least?
Compare the police shooting people dead; somehow the explanation does not match the perceived danger or any harm to the people in blue. The way that we are policed these days leave the ordinary people feeling blue. I think we need to be able to touch and hit people on an insurance matched-contact system called ‘knock-for-knock.* We are being rorted at every level in NZAO and the worse it gets the more fines etc that gummint gets. So let’s drop the pretence that we are a high class small gem of civilisation down here under the insulating cardboard by the air conditioner vent.
