The Government secretly stalked women workers and launched their war on them in just 48hours

Q:What is a woman? A: Someone who gets paid less than a man. Brooke van Velden - Minister for Handmaidens

Wow, this Government hid the war they were about to declare against women…

When the Government started work to limit pay equity claims, and why the public wasn’t informed earlier

When did the Government start work to scale back the pay equity law, and why was that work kept secret?

Using information gleaned from interviews, redacted Government documents, and debate in Parliament, political reporter Glenn McConnell has pieced together a timeline of the pay equity reform.

It took less than two days for the Government to reveal its plan to limit pay equity claims, and then change the law.

The move sparked fierce public backlash from working women, unions, and opposition parties. They criticised the law change, but also the way in which the change happened – with Parliament put into urgency to rush through a bill that had not been campaigned on ahead of the last election.

…how cowardly of this Government.

They are so desperate to cut costs they have launched a war on women workers, hid what they were doing and rammed it through misusing urgency!

Look at the detail they have ‘released’

Alt-Right culture warriors scream ‘define a woman’ while the Political Right ‘defund women’.

We have money for tobacco subsides, military and loop holes for wealthy landlords, but no money for our sisters, mothers, aunties, wives, girlfriends and fellow women workers

  1. GUEST BLOG: Tadhg Stopford – NZ is not poor. We are being plundered.
    https://thedailyblog.co.nz/2025/05/07/guest-blog-tadhg-stopford-nz-is-not-poor-we-are-being-plundered/
While I’m hugely impressed with Tadhg Stopford’s Post I’m a little concerned that he’s not yet made mention of primary industry farmers as being AO/NZ’s sole economy and that it’s farmer money that’s the lubrication for our financial existence and it’s that money that’s used by polite Right criminals to get all creative with our economy.
ACT are hardly worth a mention. They’re just a small group of toxic warts on our arses. They’re an embarrassment actually and I wish they’d just fuck off. Minus taking our money with them of course.

  2. A stealth attack, ‘cept Act had been planning it since 2023. Dirty stuff from a bunch of ladder puller female MPs. They remind of Draculas Daughters from a 70s Hammer Horror film.

Shameful given NZ was first to grant women the vote.

    • +100
      Another shameful betrayal.
Seriously, wake the fuck up New Zealand!
If you haven’t affected by this far right coup yet – don’t worry, you’re on their To Do list.

    • Ruth Richardson led the way, she was lionised I believe in other economies – that would have been countries but many have forgotten that we end up as conurbations of people living together, like an elevated ant colony. So Nicola Willis knows that she won’t suffer any detraction from being so compliant with the wealth-addicted.

Still the wealthy are catered for, upper and lower class again, sigh. Exurban has become the word for outer areas where the wealthy reside, further from the suburbs. That is so 20th century isn’t it. How do we inhabit our minds which feel 21st century pressures?

  3. What deserves a seriously good flogging is Nicola no boats saying that not paying women an equitable wage amounts to billions in savings.
It is not savings it is exploitation and theft.

  4. I know for sure that doing ‘stop go’ at roadworks get paid exactly the same as men. What you say to that?

  5. Well, history will mark this as the precise moment Luxon caused the NACTF coalition of callous, cowardly cruelty to implode and utterly lose the next election – even if it arrives a little snappier than expected.

He was never really tested as a “businessman CEO” at Unilever, hopeless at AirNZ, and he is hopeless in the Beehive.

However, he certainly has definitely worked hard to earn the moniker of ClusterFuxon.

He has now completely fucked himself and his right wing dickheads and doomed them to a single-term government.

So it’s not all bad news.

    • I was thinking the same thing lets encourage them in their pursuit of horror then maybe New Zealand voters will wake up that this lot ain’t in it for us women, bottom feeders the homeless unemployed or the beneficiaries and last but definitely not least the abuse victims in state care

  6. I now wonder at any time in history has National especially stood up for the rights of NZ Workers????!!!!! Because to date and over many decades National done nothing For the NZ Workers. If they did something they would have given abysmally with One Hand and Taken More Away with the other(hand).
Luxon is on record as saying NZ have too many public holidays and who knows the public holiday he deems should be on the Chopping Block is Labour Day because in his limited intelligence the word Labour would be construed as too closely linked to the NZ Labour Party.
The Pay Equity Act that was Secretly and Abhorrently Rush through Parliament with Zero Transparency given(so much for Luxon advocating a Transparent government in the lead up to the 2023 election if National became government)shows total Dishonesty on All Parties in the Coalition.
I will now refer to this Coalition as being the I DON’T CARE lot. They simply DON’T CARE about anyone especially those on low income.
With the pay equity matter I am reminded of a cartoon that I tried to Copy and Paste to here from years ago. It shows a boy and girl looking into their respective undies and figuring out what one is paid more than the other. So in a way history has again repeated itself thanks to the Archaic when it comes to NZ Female workers right to equal pay.
I am also reminded of an interview on the telly from the 80s where a woman said that her employer gave the reason for NOT paying her the same as her fellow male colleagues was because she was a Female.
And so again this government has taken The Great Leap Backwards but this time in regards to persecuting low income females fighting for equal pay.
It’s time the females of the country who are of voting age and on the lower income brackets in Deliberately Kept Low Income NZ stand up for their rights and Also Vote Accordingly i.e get rid of this corruptive form of government whenever is the general election.
