THE LIBERAL AGENDA: Trans Actress hoisted by their own petard

Now look.

Normally when you hear a news story where a person has had a ‘problematic’ tweet trawled from their history and held up in todays context as the worst sin imaginable and you roll your eyes and weep at the pettiness of the Prissy woke.

A lot of the time it is a joke that hasn’t aged well or a flippant comment that isn’t worth the Outrage Olympics of taking offence, and to be honest that’s what I simply assumed had happened to Academy Award nominated Karla Sofía Gascón who has just become the first Trans actress to be nominated.

I assumed it was a nasty smear because it’s open season on the Trans Community under Trump, so I didn’t pay it much heed, until you actually read what Karla Sofía Gascón actually said, and then you went, ‘Holy Fuck’!

Will Emilia Pérez star Karla Sofía Gascón’s offensive X posts derail the Oscar favourite’s chances?

Earlier this week, Gascón complained in an interview that the social media team working with Fernanda Torres, a best actress nominee for I’m Still Here, was “tearing me and Emilia Pérez down”. She then backtracked, claiming that she was “referencing the toxicity and violent hate speech on social media” in general. But the impression lingered that Gascón had attacked a competitor in a way that was against the spirit of the Oscars. Still, that was a storm in a teacup compared to the hurricane of old X posts that were unearthed by journalist Sarah Hagi, and subsequently reported in Variety. Posted during 2020 and 2021, they included numerous offensive remarks about George Floyd, Chinese people, Muslim women and Islam in general, to name but a few of Gascón’s targets. To top it all? A post attacking The Oscars themselves. Of the 2021 event, at which Nomadland won best picture, Gascón said: “More and more the #Oscars are looking like a ceremony for independent and protest films, I didn’t know if I was watching an Afro-Korean festival, a Black Lives Matter demonstration or the 8M [a Spanish way of referring to International Women’s Day]. Apart from that, an ugly, ugly gala.”

…holy shit!

The things Gascón has said about George Floyd, Chinese People, Muslim Women and Islam would be more in synch with Sean Plunkett on The Platform, not a progressive Trans voice.

The things Gascón has said are sooooooooo racist and sooooooooo cruel it makes a mockery of woke kindness.

It’s a tragedy for the Trans Community who were so desperate fort a hero in these dark days and its just more ammunition for the Culture War advocates.

I didn’t think cancel culture was still a thing after Trump smashed Identity Politics, but if Gascón loses  at the Academy Awards, it will make a storming come back in the most unpredictable way.

Normally the Woke would eat their own young if they weren’t all vegan, in Gascón’s case however, everyone gets to dine out.

What a tragedy and what an unexpected twist.

  1. Some people would call this free speech, you know the kind of free speech that libertarians would die in a ditch for. Funny though if it comes out of a mouth that is not theirs it becomes an international incident in such a caring world of modern day Trump society that is Hollywood and the bog old US of A.

    • No it makes a mockery of right wing libertarians who only support free speech when it comes out of their bigoted mouths ,its only free speech when they say it is and god forbid it comes out of a trans actor’s mouth . They must be choking over their caviar smoothies while us woke have a cup of tea and a lie down

        • Don’t trivialise the discussion with jibes so much, try limiting yourself to one only? Or taking up some outdoor pursuit like biking to cool your brain from its apparent chronic inflammation. Medically it’s not the inflammation that is harmful it’s only when it’s chronic. Just a kindly tip from google info.

      • Not my government It makes a mockery of the trans community right here in New Zealand who terrorised women try to have voices in Albert Park, and inflicted violence on them, and succeeded in silencing them.

It makes a mockery of New Zealand’s left wing politicians who participated in silencing women at Albert Park, a Labour PM who regretted not being able to join in that shocking debacle, a Green co- leader who blamed white cisgender males for all societal violence and the hapless hopeless media who misrepresented that event and celebrated it as a joyous occasion and were very economical with the truth in both the lead-up to it, and the aftermath.

It was a Labour PM who proposed global, yes global, censorship of speech to the UNO, not a Libertarian or right-winger.

        • Golly that’s absolutely correct Hollyhock, if I remember it was that Socialite, friend of the rich and famous and now a movie star Comrade Dame Jacinda.

  2. It’s a shame. I was hoping biological men would win both the Best Acting categories this year. Just like they dominate in women’s sports.
