Stage 1 of the Ceasefire Agreement will last for 6 weeks and see the release of 33 Israeli hostages held by Hamas and 18 hundred Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.
Stage 2 of the ceasefire agreement includes the final exchange of the last remaining hostages held by Hamas, in exchange for the release of an unspecified number of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel, and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip, including IDF withdrawing in stages from the Philadelphi Corridor and the Rafah crossing.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu says he will not be abide with the conditions of Stage 2, Netanyahu says he will not withdraw Israeli troops from Gaza, or from occupying the Rafah Crossing, as specified in Stage 2.
A prospect that will be greeted with horror by the world and even dismay inside Israel itself, especially among the families of the remaining hostages.
In a televised address, delivered in Hebrew, a defiant Benjamin Netanyahu makes clear there will be no stage 2 while he is Prime Minister. Effectively Netanyahu is condemning the remaining hostages, mostly captured male soldiers to death, as an acceptable cost to pay for continuing the war.
In the same speech Netanyahu said that the Trump administration will give him full permission and support to continue Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza after the current prisoner exchange is over.
Addressing the concerns of his Israeli audience, Netanyahu says that he was able to negotiate the release of the largest number of hostages possible, and that the release of all the hostages is still his top priority. Netanyahu claimed that the current exchange was only made possible by the use of military force, implying that he will return to the use of military force to rescue the last remaining hostages.

Israeli military brought more captives ‘home in body bags than alive’: Rights group

Breaking the Silence, an Israeli military veterans’ group, has welcomed the Israeli government’s agreement on the Gaza ceasefire deal, saying it would bring to an end “months of trauma and sorrow” that was “completely avoidable”…..

Accusing the Netanyahu government and “accomplices in the media” of selling lies to the Israeli public about “military pressure ‘saving’ hostages”, Breaking the Silence said Israeli forces “brought many more hostages home in body bags than alive”.

Before Stage 1 of the ceasefire has even begun, Netanyahu scuttles Stage 2, saying that after stage 1 is completed, he will relaunch Israel’s war on Gaza again, and [with Trump’s support], “we will do it stronger than ever.”

Netanyahu address on Ceasefire Deal

…..when Trump was elected he was mobilized and he started working. He talked to me yesterday and blessed this agreement, and he honestly said that the first phase of the agreement is is only a temporary ceasefire that’s why. [he blessed it]
He said it’s a temporary ceasefire as we prepare for the next phases.
And as we are preparing for those phases, we have everything that we need, and all the elements in order to release the remaining captives, and to achieve the different goals of the war.
President Biden and President Trump have shown their full support to our war, and if Israel would find that the second phase of uh, the agreement, cannot be implemented, they said that they could understand this.
And Trump said that he will release and remove all obstacles, so that Israel can have all the weapons that it needs.
And if we need to start, or resume the war again, we will do that, and we will do it stronger than ever.
During the negotiations I have set a few priorities including that we need to keep our options so that we can go back to war if possible and if needed.
Hamas said for months that we need [to] try to stipulate several agreements, or several conditions, and I rejected most of their uh conditions.
I insisted on keeping the right to go back to war if needed, with the support of the United States. And every official and each official in the US Administration have seen and said, that [it] is Hamas that is always trying to sabotage the negotiations.
The second condition was to increase the number of captives who will be released in the first phase.
And I’m happy and delighted to announce here, that Israel was able to do so.
And unlike the stance of Hamas, today we were able to double the number of the hostages alive, who will be released during the first phase.
The third principle that I insisted on, is to keep the Philadelphia Aisle, and also the buffer zone, when I talk about this, I mean by this, that we will not only, we will increase the number of our military presence there, unlike what is being said we have promised.
And we have also made sure that we will keep the buffer zone that is surrounding the Gaza Strip so our military forces will be spread out and will close all the strip.
And we will not allow the arrival of any new weapons.
We have decided also, that all the prisoners who whose hand are completely uh stained with blood will not be released.
We will also increase the number of our militaries in the West Bank as well, so that we can defend our citizens there…..

  1. Pat – So Hamas was on the losing end of the Israel – Hamas War, which it started and is now upset? Hamas brought ruin to the Gazans and for what?

    • Why are the palastinians imprisoned in their own country .How can anyone be expected to accept living in a small open air prison along with 6 million others who have been refugees for 50 years since the 1967 war ?
Tell me how that is fair to be imprisoned or exiled in or from your own country ?
