The explosion of white wrath that the Treaty was inside Pharmac to begin with highlights how pig ignorant most redneck crackers are when it come to Māori pain.
Because most redneck crackers benefited from theft of Māori land, they never want to look at the impact of colonisation.
They will say redneck cracker things like, “But we gave a Stone Age people muskets and blankets and technology, so they should be grateful”.
Never mind that contact almost wiped Māori from the face of the planet.
Put aside a party like ACT who are a pimp for the pharmaceutical industry telling a Former National Party to burn the Treaty, let’s remind people why the Treaty is in Pharmac to begin with…

..That redneck crackers have to be reminded of the inequalities all the time is the shocking thing.
Pharmac includes the Treaty so Māori can demand the same outcomes and Pharmac are forced to respond to that, by reaping the Treaty out, Māori being poor are simply left to whither on the vine with the rest of the poor.
I think Redneck Crackers just love having a fan boy like Seymour that can justify their racism and make them feel righteous instead, they want to cement into place their white settler 19th century privilege and call that democracy.

I’m not a fan of David Seymour or the Act party, but I find it difficult to imagine how anyone would disagree with the proposition that
“Pharmac’s role should focus on delivering improved health outcomes underpinned by robust data and evidence…. This should serve all New Zealanders based on actual need, without assigning their background as a proxy of need.”

If decision makers prioritized relevant minority groups before making decisions, then treaty will not be required. It is just a blunt tool. More Pacifica and asians get diabetes than Maori. However they are ignored during the treaty checkbox exercise.
Well that’s simply not true at all Benny. There are definitely special authorities from PHARMAC that have more relaxed funding criteria for Pacific people.
It’s that sort of ignorance that makes wanker Seymour’s race baiting so much easier
Topic well presented and could not be more accurate. Benny, bringing in the multicultural angle before biculturalism is addressed is disingenuous at best. Sure, Maori don’t do worst in EVERY single health and social indicator, just the vast majority. To evade the true reasons for this is in keeping with the Crown and the “majority” since 1860. It needs to be remembered that this majority was only possible due to Maori agreeing to the ToW some 20 years earlier – which allowed the mass migration floodgates to open and subsequently the tyranny of the majority ensuing in terms of illegal land confiscations and generation of structurally racist legislation since 1860.
There also needs to be a recognition of class – still a dirty concept within the health community – with regards health outcomes. Maori are not homogeneous – how much is the health differences the ‘Maori and poor’ community & not all Maori? Targeting to all Maori will not necessarily reach those who are considered ‘no hopers’ who Drs believe won’t do follow up or those who cannot afford the GP appointment in the first place. Targeted outreach & services to ALL poor will, however. Research needs to be done with this in mind – I am not saying that it’s not the case & that it is bias against Maori in general but I’d like more proof.
that’s the thing. only 20% of health outcomes are influenced by the health system, and there’s massive differences between urban and rural Maori.
The system is not racist, that’s activist posturing.
Surely Pharmacs role in health is to buy drugs at the best price and best value to all NZ people .Any money spent on following unnecessary paths is money not spent on drugs
. I did not realize there are drugs for minority groups that are not being purchased ,Can this be explained if it is happening .
Surely Māori providing required census information would facilitate Pharmac’s drug buying role better than the Treaty can, with better/ targeted health outcomes, and more efficient health providers.
Actlas want to privatise government everything. They particularly want to privatise government lands whether that be city blocks under government offices, government land suitable for housing or Landcorps farm blocks or subdividable beachfront coastal blocks or offshore islands or conservation lands. Recent governments interpretation of The Treaty have given Maori first right of purchase of government land. Actlas want to remove The Treaty to remove maori land rights. Simple.
Cagey you need to read the TOW the founding document of this country, it promised us (in the English version) full undisturbed possession of our lands and so on it also promised us the same rights as British subjects. Despite this most of our Māori soldiers did not go into the land ballots nor did they receive the same level of pension (upon returning from war) And to add to the insult many lost their land while at war (given to settlers for farming) while they were fighting for King and country (Public works act took it) it’s no surprise we sit at the bottom of many statistics. We did not get to the bottom by ourselves we had help by the ruling governments who implemented policy primarily for the benefit of the settlers. Also, many of NZ settlers both old and new claim we have and are receiving preferential treatment and that this has and is unfair to them, when in fact this has never been true. The TOW being the founding document paved the way for settlers to come here and for law and order surely the injustices justify the TOW to be enshrined in our laws and governmental goals and objectives for the betterment of our country and in order to maintain good race relations whilst upholding the TOW.
You come to the table as a Maori so your view is valued so can you explain how Pharmac would change their goal which is the best drugs at the best price .if TOW is factored in
Can someone please explain to me what is so wrong with the Pharmac model being based on TOW principles. This surely negates the argument put forward by the likes of David Seymour et.al. Trevor what principle would affect the goals of Pharmac . The TOW upholds the rule of law for everyone in Aotearoa take it away and it puts us all at risk from the big pharma capitalists who are really only interested in the mighty dollar for their drugs.
please state the principles…
Read TRICK OR TREATY by SIR DOUGLAS GRAHAM THAT WILL ANSWER ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW AND IT IS VERY EASY TO UNDERSTAND ..
The TOW actually wasn’t the founding document for this country.
And although injustice was done in several cases which have now (rightly) mostly been settled via the Tribunal, the vast majority of Maori land was sold by Maori.
Well that’s a conspiracy theory.
I took my grand kids to a 6th birthday party yesterday .My youngest grand sone was the only brown person there .One of the red necks there commented about smell in the room each time my grandson entered .I thought what a fucken cunt he is .His family are all very nice but clearly they are living a lye .I only hope his lovely children are not tarred by the same brush .
Seymour reminds me of all the young black hating South Africans I used to work with .They were always saying fucking Maori this and fucken Maori that but were first in line to have sex with the brown girls .
Too much Treaty at Pharmac is just Act pulling the biggest trigger they can find to cancel the maori voice through referendum. It’s about government land sales. Land is still the biggest wealth.
Seymour is acting way out of his pay grade, that of a paper boy on $3 an hour. We have now lost another specialist due to Seymours stupidity and ignorance. Seymour needs to resign and allow a mature politician to replace him.

If Pharmac focuses on need, that should be it. I’m interested to know when the lefties who stole Māori land are giving it back. Please tell us Martyn and we’ll come and watch.
I think you will find said land is in the hands of right wing white folk hence the race to cancell the treaty and do another one .This time do it right and stop all imigration from 1840 and ban all importation of plants and animals .
Yes Ennius is wrong again but when the right give Maori back their land, please tell us and we’ll come and watch.
I take 25 pills a day all the result of big pharmac so if they can make money out of keeping me and thousands of others alive then go for it and keep looking for more curers for the many illness that still take lives.
Article 4 of the Treaty which referred to Pharmac was at the bottom of the document but sadly the snails got to it.
