MEDIAWATCH: Unprepared Brooke has a terrible interview with Jack Tame

Ummmmmmmmmmm

This, this was NOT a good interview for Brooke..

Could more safety inspectors reduce work deaths? Minister unsure

Workplace safety inspectors are “very important” but the minister in charge of governing them, Brooke van Velden, says she’s unsure whether hiring more inspectors would reduce New Zealand’s high rates of deaths on the job.

…I’ve interviewed Brooke a dozen times and she is normally sharp, funny and at the very least interesting, but this wooden robot routine where she was terribly underprepared was woeful.

She was trying to claim that she was stepping up for worker safety while wanting to dismantle Unions!

Our worker death rate is one of the worst in the western world because we have a deunionised work force reliant on exploiting migrant labour.

Brooke can not claim to stand for worker health and safety while dismantling the Unions!

TDB Recommends NewzEngine.com

Brooke wants safety obligations to be forced upon the worker so the Boss is allowed off the hook.

Here she is claiming to protect workers while she is weakening the organisations that  protect workers safety!!!

It was like claiming she wants this boat to win a race while shooting holes in the bottom of it.

Normally Brooke is well briefed, either she wasn’t or she was and the intractability of ACTs desire to destroy and burn everything eclipsed her talking points.

It doesn’t bode well for what they are secretly cooking up in the background.

The right wing blitzkrieg to break the Unions by this new hard right racist climate denying beneficiary bashing Government is an ideological forced orgy where only the rich get to orgasm…

Workplace Relations Minister Brooke van Velden reveals plans to make changes to Holiday Act, health and safety reform

Workplace Relations Minister Brooke van Velden has revealed her priorities for her portfolio this term, including making changes to our Holiday Act and reform on health and safety law and regulations.

Van Velden, the ACT Party deputy leader, shared her priorities with the Auckland Business Chamber on Tuesday, saying she was “committed to cutting the red tape and regulations that are stopping both businesses and employees from realising their full potential”.

It comes after the Government’s move to abolish Fair Pay Agreements and expand the availability of 90-day trials.

Van Velden criticised the previous Government for increasing minimum wage faster than inflation, introducing Matariki as a new public holiday and introducing more sick leave for employees.

…my guess is the antivaxx faux Unions that have infiltrated here will quickly become ACTs favourite way to undermine the current Union structure.

ACT are dismantling health and safety and worker rights while directly attacking Union cashflow…

…at some point the wider Political Left are going to have to acknowledge that we are under attack on all front by this hard right racist climate denying beneficiary bashing Government.

How ACT see themselves vs how everyone else sees them

  1. Martyn – True, not the best from Brooke…However, too many Unions are merely branches for the NZ Labour Party…and not for the members.

  2. So when is she going to realise that less MPs especially troll ministers could do the same job and give herself the sack? She gives the impression that if she got a brain cell it would be lonely.

  3. The hopiday act is a dog’s breakfast and even the government cannot get payment correct with the health boards owing millions

  4. Her and Seymore are a perfect match….
Both as vacuous as each other…
Both as stupid as each other..
Both with little to no real life experience and both completely impractical.

They do compete well though…. for who can come up with the most nonsensical analogies, and, are masters at talking in riddles and contradicting themselves…
For that you have to give them credit!!

I don’t think i have ever seen her give an answer to a question that actually makes sense, and often, appears slightly away with the fairies.

I can’t even begin to imagine what her end game is. She seems to have a divine belief in what she is doing, akin to that of a religious zealot..

God defend New Zealand… He/She is going to need to!!!

  5. Of course, our traitor friend Anker voted for ACT, knowing full well they would screw the working people of this country,.

  6. They will screw the working people and kill them they act tu Lee don’t care they care about the businesses Brook said they extensively consulted with during the election. For her to say she is not into reactionary policy fucken load of bullshit that is exactly what her and her party are doing. Reacting to anecdotal evidence he said she said fucken crap. Jack was nice to her maybe he is worried about losing his job no one is safe under this mob we have in power. She’s not interested in workers safety she’s all about saving costs for businesses by getting rid of our current protection measures. She’s a smiling cunt and needs to be called out but who will do this as our media are acting like lap dogs and it’s sickening to watch.

  8. Can’t beat Lieutenant Brooke for her heart of stone demanding of FENZ to PROVE they need more operating money instead of cuts.
A bit of a punch in the face tbh for the
12000 volunteers who make up 85% of FENZ’s frontline workforce.
In 2020 the annual economic value of volunteer firefighters was estimated at $659million.
FREE work leached for Lieutenant Brooke and the NACTZIs at the most traumatic of times for victims is a significant amount of financial savings for New Zealand Taxpayers don’t you think ?

” Brooke van Velden appeared this morning on Q&A, presumably paying homage to Margaret Thatcher. The robotic one had come in an 80s pink, shoulder-padded jacket, much favoured by the likes of Thatcher or Hosking. She also brought the spirit of Margaret, seemingly occupying her previously vacant soul compartment.

Jack asked for some opening remarks and then as she warbled on looked as if he was regretting it and wondering if she might ever stop for a question. What could he do? The lady’s not for interrupting. ”

I was horrified, but not surprised. And ask again, how did this woman end up getting such an important role? Oh that’s right. Workers don’t vote for ACT. It’s business that matters. I challenge her to look the families in the eye when their loved ones have been killed at work. I challenge her to go to the tangi of grieving whanau who don’t understand how their loved one was killed at work ; I challenge her to go to a prosecution for an injury or death by Work Safe and listen to the companies defend their actions. I challenge her to meet with the Pike families, or the Forestry families who mourn still to this day. Work Safe is far from perfect, but it is under-resourced . I am also worried about the Holidays Act “review” given the Holidays Act covers annual leave, public holidays, sick leave and bereavement leave. There already has been work done on the calculations during Labour’s time, but of course that is tainted in her magenta view.

Sigh! More mindless word salad from someone who hasn’t a clue that her job is about people.

Jaysus wept! this woman needs a heart transplant! she makes Thatcher seem warm blooded …. how the hell can she even use the word “reform” with a straight face? Several of my mining uncles had silicosis, they called it Miners’ Phthisis back in the day, it is horrific … how can this miserable excuse for a human being brush off the import of this so lightly? …. every week I think I cannot be more outraged and every week this dreadful government proves me wrong :/

Very strange woman. She shows no emotion and that is a real worry. It appears that for her, the worker is responsible for their own H & S in the workplace. After all the employer can’t be expected to do too much as this will impact on his/her profits.

According to wikipedia, Brook Van Velden is 31 years of age and went to St Cuthberts College. She has a pretty face and she knows how to talk ‘proper’. She got into politics by accident. She’s also an empty vessel with no comprehension of what she is supposed to be doing. Hence the faffing around with so many ranges and options that she has to take into consideration before she can make any decisions. I get the impression that Jack Tame won’t need an update this time next year. All he need do is replay this morning’s interview again because it will still be valid.

  11. Are you sure its BvV being unprepared? Or is it hubris, where this particular crop of Ministers no longer give a fuck as to how they present to the media?

  12. It’s far worse than we ever imagined. She has so much power, not only with health & safety (and she wouldn’t have a clue), but on her Holidays Act review; recognising that the Holidays Act isn’t only about annual leave, but also Public Holidays, Sick leave, Bereavement Leave, Family Violence Leave. And beware the innocuous sounding Personal Grievance review ; and of course as Minister of Internal Affairs, she is now interfering with the levy system for Fire and Emergency complaining it is too big a cost to business. However, we reap what we sow, particularly in elections.

  13. I was a trained health and safety officer in my work place .While the supervisors were the fall guys when there was an incident management were blase .As soon as managers and CEOs were made accountable there was suddenly a massive swing and buy in because they were the ones being held accountable and the insurance companies were saying lift your game or we wont cover your arse .
People like the stupid minister forget that for every death there may well have been 100 near misses some of which will have left many maimed for life .
Not only do we have too many deaths at work but far too many injuries .

  14. Where are the National Party ministers for these portfolios. Does ACT have everything?
The country thought it was getting a National party govt. which would have been bad enough. But Luxon has washed his hands of many very important ministries and allowed these reACTionary robots to take control of his govt. What’s his lot actually doing????

When will we get to hear from National ministers instead of this ice-cold robot party?
Has Luxon himself been side-lined. Has he been detained in Pyjama Prison? All we get from him are repeated meaningless slogans, is he still alive? Or are they just replaying speeches and rubbish from his election campaign.
He’s so worried about his entitlements.
He should be more worried about our entitlements and what ACT is trying to do to them.

Never thought NZ would become a dictatorship but we are edging ever closer with this lot having all the say.
Wake up, Mr. Luxon. You seem to have lost control.

  15. There’s some ex-St. Cuthberts person been brought in to form a group to establish and push through Seymour’s charter school plan. So, we see now, all the back-room people appear to know each other and been making plans for ages about how they’d sponge money from the public education system to pay for their pet project.
The electorate of Epsom has a lot to answer for. They have foisted these dictatorial, heartless people onto us. The Tamaki electorate, I hope, is starting to feel a bit sick too. What have you people done????

    • Can someone please explain how this woman with absolutely no life experiences,no real work experience and is in charge of everything worker related. I love how they are always talking to people when they can’t even be bothered to answer emails. We have a lazy PM, the emperor with no clothes, he does no work by and his own admission he is in it for what his entitlements are. We are doomed, they are recklessly fiddling with the tenets of our democracy and the left better get cracking before it’s too late, however sadly I think we have gone past the point of no return because this is shambles of a government is run by big money for big money and screw anyone else

      • No, no one can explain how this woman with absolutely no life experiences, no real work experience is in charge of everything worker related.
But I guess that’s what you get with dictator governments.

    • Yes, Joy and in the meantime public schools will get prefabs that have ten a year live span all short-term thinking.

  16. The way Brook talked about lives; she said it depended on the government agency you were talking about just shows how cold hearted she really is. A life is a fucken life no matter what and we should value all lives. She is a sicko!

  17. a dangerous idealist that believes it. Ayn Rand wanabe lightweight, she should drink some Red Bull and objectively float the fuck off.

  18. more like the uk tories every day…promote mediocre tongue tied ‘peters’ maybe having no handle on your portfolio is meant to provoke sympathy
