Tova O’Brien is not a journalist
In her column on Winston Peters calling the previous government Nazis for their policy on co-governance, Tova O’Brien rightly says, ” it was wrong”. But then goes on to say that is wrong when the Greens and Maori Party do the same. O’Brien does not give any example of the Greens and the Maori Party doing this, so we cannot judge whether their use of this comparison and who it was directed at, was wrong, or even if it occurred at all. Only O’Brien’s opinion that the Maori Party and the Greens are “wrong” making this comparison. O’Brien does not say who the Greens and Maori Party directed this comparison to.
Without giving any example, O’Brien accusing the Maori Party and the Greens of using the Nazi comparison wrongly, is simply a slur, and not journalism.
I agree with O’Brien that throwing around the accusation of ‘Nazism’ should not be done lightly.
The accusation of Nazism has been used more than once to justify violence.
Accusations of Nazism have been used to by the President of Russia to justify his country’s attack on Ukraine, an accusation which Ukraine claims is false. Ukraine has taken a case against the Russian Federation for making a falsie accusation of genocide and Nazism to the International Court of Justice.
O’Brien has some questions to answer
What is O”Brien’s attempt to slur the Greens and Maori Party motivated by?
Does it have any reference to the Greens and the Maori Party rightfully calling the mass slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza a genocide?
Is Tova O’Brien abandoning journalistic objectivity to express a personal political bias against the Greens and the Maori Party?
O’Brien is what she is, an opinionated educated woman at a time that Women Know Everything, almost, but are hard to pin down to show when be wrong or even, perhaps wrong. It is Women’s Time and they should be allowed to reach equivalence with men in wrongdoing – that’s equality. Capisce!

This is important. The Warehouse should receive committed NZ/AO citizen support. This is Australia giving us the finger when it suits them, and favouring the big buyers, which will always leave us receiving unequal treatment because though we we want to be big for our boots – we aren’t. 5 million is pipsqueak now compared to the big boys and China and India are going toe to toe for numbers.

Aha keep down inflation. It may strangle your economy but helps all the overseas corpses make bigger bucks. They can keep going while our small biz won’t. And if we don’t stop spending gummint-wise, then IMF will put uip the cost of borrowing, and so that will have a certain chilling effect anyway. But that would be good. Grow up and put on long trousers and long skirts whichever gender you are this year/month. Stop looking down at each others’ legs and look at the Economy Stupid right here in Newzil. Inflation down at say 3-5% would be nice, in the old sense of just right.

I had a great respect for you The Chairman. But you are like me – having trouble with your devices. And I thought no-one could be worse than me on that! Repetition becomes a bore after the third time and you are boring to China, as the saying goes or went.
Such intense immediate struggles, but someone in their 2 minute post about one of them mentioned the urgency of climate change, so instantly sadder than that hairy elephant on Sesame St. Diversions, diversions, diversions all the way to hell, in my, already old, lifetime.
Covid, Ukraine, Gaza — diversions. Calls to unity (Covid), calls to truth and ideals (latter two), helpful, but really. I hope the new Greens are better about ‘persuading’ for the imminent, worse than anything, reality. It will need persuading, rather than Trotter’s ‘art of the possible’ straight to Hell.
I have been trying to understand Trotter’s position on Climate Change but it requires a deep dive into your under-conscious. And a talker like him should be able to give you a short-cut which has not happened yet.
