Labour MPs react to Stuart Nash’s claims his tougher gang asset seizure policy was blocked by Cabinet

Labour MPs are disgruntled at their former colleague Stuart Nash after he claimed he fought for tougher policy on seizing assets from gangs.

Party leader Chris Hipkins on Tuesday dismissed the comments by Nash, the former Police Minister, and denied his Government was soft on gangs.

“Cabinet collective responsibility has never been one of Stuart’s strong points but, as a former minister, he’s entitled to have his views,” Hipkins told reporters.

“One of the reasons we have collective responsibility is that people will remember discussions differently.”

Other Labour MPs on Tuesday morning also expressed annoyance about the comments by Nash, who was sacked by Hipkins as a minister last year after revelations he leaked confidential Cabinet discussions to donors.

Wait!!! WHAT???

Where on earth does Stuart Bloody Nash, The Nashy if you will, where the bloody hell does The Nashy get off lecturing anyone about anything said in Cabinet meetings???

HE!

He doesn’t get any moral high ground to lecture anyone on.

The audacity and arrogance of the bloke to think he has a voice on any issue regarding Cabinet discussions after

HE!

Taking advice from the Nashy on Cabinet discussions is like Trump hosting a lesbian folk music festival.

Wildly inappropriate.

Is this your first steps to becoming a NZ First member is it?

Has Winston sent you the membership papers has he?

Shut up Stuart.

  1. Well, even NZ Labour gave “Nashy the Slashy” as Bomber so eloquently put it at the time. Willie Jackson has asked if he is now a consultant pimping for work from private sector, Natzos or NZ First.

  2. Maybe Nash has some mates? Used to …..
Maybe he is just giving a mate a hand, after-all he is from Labour aristocracy and I am sure he has the best interest of Labour close to his heart.

  3. Yes, he is a snake in the grass…a Labour gossip.
BUT is his allegations about Kiri Alan and the gangs correct? or made up, fanciful…or the truth, if it’s the truth then it’s a slap in the face for Chippy and he can no longer have any credibility when he asks any questions in parliament regarding law and order/gangs, he will be mocked (well ok he is already mocked for still being the Labour leader after such a heavy defeat)

    • You failed ( selective mind you) to ask if it was a lie?

Given you were all over him like a rash for his misdemeanors does this make you the excrement we wipe with toilet tissue?

    • Nashy was corrupt and sacked for it but now you choose to believe him, fuck some people are thick. Nashy is like Trump, alternative facts.

  4. Nash has a long, oblivious, but always right-wing, history from my Hawke’s Bay.

Very keen to allow confiscation down to 0 for gang assets but not so keen to raise benefits back to pre-Jenny Shipley levels, so as to prevent gangs in the first place. No idea. Walter was not much better.

  5. Fuck He’s so tuff! How does one become just like He? (Answers on the back of a wet bus ticket or a bit of used paper towel from the bowls of the Parliamentary precinct).

  6. He, fucked up big time when a Minister, some thought possible leader, but no, his Hubris, got him, now he looking around for friends from the other side of the fence.

  7. Poor pollies when they have police connections as well – they get really stretched.
For example past vigorous policeman Ross Meurant trying to make headway to get gangs self-monitoring with some positive action:

  8. Well he has a point. I live not far from the son of a senior gang member who has “taxed” a 501 for his Harley Davidson and continues to ride the bike at least twice the speed limit through a 50km/hr zone in a small Tutukaka Coast community. Both these clowns are well known to the police, deal drugs and carry illegal firearms. Neither work. Despite numerous complaints to the police, photo evidence, and numerous people complaining, nothing gets done about it. On top of that, a senior Headhunter, well known to the police, has decided to spend the summer camping in the field next to us. Doesn’t work. Drives a Harley, a new Mercedes SUV, his partner gets around in a new Tesla, their numerous kids tool up and down the road on 4 wheel drive motorbikes, no helmets, at speed, age of driver about 12. Headhunter often travelling at 100 km/hr in 50 zone. Again, numerous complaints from multiple people, nothing done about it. It’s a circus. I’ve quit complaining about it because obviously endangering people is nothing to be concerned about in NZ 2024.

  9. There’s a missprint here….’Cabinet collective responsibility has never been one of Stuart’s strong points but, as a former minister, he’s entitled to have his views,” Hipkins told reporters.
It should be…………………Cabinet collective responsibility has never been one of Stuart’s strong points but, as a disgraced minister, he’s entitled to have his views,” Hipkins told reporters. ”
