This could be an important swing voter base of people who are likely to respond quickly to promising policy. These sole traders are people who have tried to climb out of the mess that Labour and National have made in this country exposing it to every trader under-paying workers or having huge factory runs and trading a lot of goods on marginal costs etc.
We have to import basics because of efficiency ie cheapness, and export milk powder because we can float along with the market (Ricardo I think is at the base of this). Now people trying to pull themselves up by their bootstraps find that they are of inferior make from their suppliers and gummint hasn’t a clue about remedying their position because what used to be efficient but perhaps slow, is inefficient and won’t go. What an awful rhyme!
There is no reason or rhyme for what was done to NZ micro businesses by gummint except their own tribal benefits; the political class clinging together like busy ants stripping all our goodies for their own proliferation.
