We are delighted to let you know Palestinian leader, Nasser Mashni, is visiting Aotearoa New Zealand on a national speaking tour from 26th May to 2nd June and will be available for media interviews.

Nasser’s Bio

Nasser is the current President of APAN (Australia Palestine Advocacy Network), having served for the past six years as a committee member, Treasurer and Vice President.

He is the son of a Palestinian refugee, resettled in Australia. He is a co-founder of Australians For Palestine and a founding board member of Olive Kids – The Australian Foundation for Palestinian Children.

Nasser has been a guest on varied government and commercial TV and radio networks in Australia and has written for a number of news outlets. He produces a weekly radio show and podcast called Palestine Remembered that is broadcast on Australia’s Community Network stations.

With his father’s legacy in mind, Nasser is determined to continue the struggle for justice and a free Palestine.

More on his background is outlined in these two short pieces.

Nasser’s tour

Nasser will be talking on the subject “After 75 years of Nakba – the way forward for Palestine” (Note: “Nakba” is Arabic for catastrophe – the ethnic cleansing of over 700,000 Palestinians from historic Palestine in 1947-49. The Nakba has continued every day since)

He will be carrying a positive message based on the growing international support for the Palestinian struggle around the world – especially amongst younger people.

Most importantly Nasser will be talking about the importance of BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) against Israel to make it accountable for its actions against Palestinians and what next, now that the so-called “two-state solution” is dead.

It is rare for Palestinian voices to be heard in the New Zealand media and we hope this will change with Nasser’s visit.
