Sue the dirty filthy Oil Bosses for climate change crimes against humanity!

As the extreme wet events following extreme droughts scar the land permanently and interrupt agricultural calendars around the world, let’s not forget who is responsible for this, the fucking oil companies!

NZ students ask for oil company execs to be declared criminals

Kiwi law students are fighting for BP senior executives to be investigated and tried in the International Criminal Court.

It’s one of the first cases targeting the people leading a fossil fuel organisation, rather than the company itself.

Senior leaders of the fossil fuel industry know their products cause global damage, injury and death, yet create “doubt, dependency [and] delay”, the British and Kiwi students argue.

For the suit to be successful, the global prosecutors’ office would need to open an investigation into the oil executives’ conduct.

This follows the leadership of Mike Smith taking the exact same action at the International Criminal Court…

Iwi leader Mike Smith takes OMV oil boss to International Criminal Court

Māori leader Mike Smith has shot the first arrow in a global war between indigenous communities and oil companies.

Smith has started legal proceedings in the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Rainer Seele, the CEO of Austrian oil giant OMV.

He said oil company executives deserved to stand trial for genocide and other climate crimes impacting on indigenous communities now and in the future.

Once again it is Indigenous peoples and young people who are leading the war on climate change.

Just 100 companies are responsible for 71% of global emissions that are causing the climate crisis, and big oil KNEW in the 1990s that they were creating catastrophic climate change.

The comparisons between how Big Tobacco lied and manipulated the science linking smoking to cancer is as audacious as Big Oil has lied and manipulated the science linking CO2 to global warming.

We should be collectively suing Big Oil now and using the payouts to fund the urgent Green transition away from fossil fuels.

t is outrageous that our Government has not led this fight and instead capitulate to the polluters rather than challenge them. Indigenous people have been at the forefront of the climate crisis battle and have been the frontline between corporate polluting greed and sustainable habitats.

You can see why the State illegally spied on Māori Iwi fighting big oil in this country.

Thank God for Māori and youth leadership on this crucial issue.

Again.

  1. And BP has the audacity to sponsor sport on TV 1.
And TV 1 the stupidity to let them.
BP don’t give a continental about sport, but they do care about social acceptability.
    Disenfranchise the buggers!

  2. If you are going to roll out mass electrification, this requires an exponential increase in mining output. For certain metals, we aren’t even sure where to find adequate reserves to meet demand.

That will require cheap energy to get the mines started up. In the short term, that will mean you need cheap oil (and coal).

If you sue the oil companies out of existence, someone will still need to be doing the pumping and exploring.

It could work if you restarted the State Mines, State Refineries and the Synthetic Fuel Corporation, and started purchasing from foreign state firms who sell oil.

The key is that supply needs to keep growing. If all you did was bankrupt a lot of oil companies, supply would fall, and your project would be doomed.

  3. Without oil we would be walking or riding through a mountain of horse shit .Oil and it’s derivatives are an integral part of modern society. It is worth noting there is a danger of no beer due to the closing of Marsden Point oil refinery . It is like blaming tobacco firms for the death they cause but no one is forced to smoke it comes down to personnal choice . Are car makers responsible for the vehicle crashes or is it bad driving .
It would be interesting to see how popular a party was that promoted a no oil world. ?

    • Village life in the Cotswolds, Trev? Yorkshire Dales ? Climbing mountain passes, walking woods where squirrels hide their nuts in grass? Seems to me we’ve managed without oil in times past, and times that produced and enabled giants in every imaginable field and endeavour. Printing presses will survive, and the weavers and spinners and blacksmiths will provide a ballast that few modern politicos could.

        • Your right there .My English aunt who came from the Yorks hire Dales said many times the good old days were not good for most .Back breaking work all your live which usually ended in a grim death.
The advent of oil powered cars and machines made life better for all.

    • in NZ drunken car murderers aren’t resonsable for anything trev, it’s a national sport….come to think of it we could put that on the telly sponsored by BP

  4. All I see here is virtue signalling and blame apportionment. Show me the person who doesn’t use the products of fossil fuels (which makes us all complicit). If you want to cure any issues find another way to do things that actually works.

  5. Denny Paoa Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokai whenuakitanatahu(Tane/Male/Man, not Female/Woman)

Interesting. If you removed all the oil based materials made products from your Misérable little lives. What would you have left? Where would you be living? What would you be wearing? What would you be eating?

Oil makes the world go round. Its the massive amounts of consumer consumption that causes emissions and pollution.

The proto fascist muddle classes dont want to reduce their consumption, they want ‘you’ to reduce your consumption so that they can consume more!

So if the war in europe goes ‘big’, in europe, that’ll be a good thing ay?

Oh! And dont get suckered into this Waste Minimisation bs too!

It just 1990s ‘User Pays’ tax. A Tax (Income revenue) on a Tax(Reginal-Council) on a Tax(User Pays, end user), if you get my meaning?

  6. “Just 100 companies are responsible for 71% of global emissions that are causing the climate crisis, ”

That is misleading – 100 Fossil fuel PRODUCERS. They extract the liquid sunlight, WE buy and consume it in an innumerable number of ways.

“Once again it is Indigenous peoples and young people…”

Hasn’t the “”young people” environmental faction cancelled itself for being too White – at least in Auckland? I’m sure the ones that haven’t self immolated yet are paralyzed by internal Woke witch hunts and Oppression Olympics competitiveness.

  7. All this reminds me of bumper sticker I saw in Gernany in the eighties. Translated for the benefit of monolingual readers:
“Why build power plants? In our home All electricity comes from the socket in the wall!”

  8. The petrochemical industry was the reason hemp became illegal, it was competing with their products.
To acheive that required going after the psychoactive effect of cannabis (a drug 3 times safer than alcohol I must add) as if it were creating greater social harm hence Reefer Madness.
Hemp seed oil converted into bio diesel would make it climate neutral because of the carbon the stalk obsorbs.
They use influence at political level to maintain this problem. The country that gave us the War on Drugs now has many states in some form of legalisation while here its a complete blank no based on all the reefer madness thats been disproven time and time again.
We simply dont have the money the oil industry has to influence politicians to change.
Either we get rid of all these corrupt politicians and start again or just put up with this problem forever.

  9. LOL! They call for the execs to be called criminals all the while consuming their products.
    What utter hypocrisy.
This really does highlight the stupidity of climate activists. The probably don’t even know they are being hypocrites because food, electricity and transportation all come from mother Gaia – no industrial complex to be seen here!
    LOL!

    • So what do you call the people who use fossil fuel products & don’t even want to know about the future problems? It must be nice for you to live in a world where everything is perfect but in my part of the real world we take any gains possible along the path to sustainability.

      • I have no problem for you calling for all drug dealers to be jailed as long as you aren’t actively buying from them. However, that isn’t the case is it?

  10. Petro chemical industry has done wonders civilisation.
So now we are at a different point we will change.
To blame is to alter history.
