The Infamous TDB Political Awards 2022

2792

It was a political year unlike any in modern NZ history when a Dumb Lives Matter protest exploded on Parliament’s Lawns with all the energy of a thousand online conspiracies. The madness of that moment seemed to sum up all the crazy Covid has unleashed upon us economically, socially, culturally and politically.

Kelvin Davis managed to stun us with his wooden performance of what stupid looks like, John Key sucked up to the Chinese, David Seymour and Chris Luxon ended up arguing over whether 10 year olds or 11 year olds should have ankle bracelets, Marama Davidson went missing in action, James Shaw came back from COP27 with some magic beans he traded our cows for, everyone seemed to hate Jacinda for saving us from tens of thousands of Covid deaths, John Key sucked up to the Chinese again, Adrian Orr jovially explained through his huge Wellington Bureaucracy expensive fat neck tie knot why he had to destroy the economy to save it, Winston some how managed to reopen his coffin lid, Luxon told everyone he was in Te Puke while holidaying in Hawaii, Dr Sharma channeled micro aggression millennial snowflake trigger thresholds by playing the victim more than Meghan Markle, Nanaia spawned an entirely new replacement conspiracy theory that involved her husband stealing white peoples water and John Key went from sucking up to the Chinese to full blown political Fellatio.

Oh, and Trevor Mallard fucked us all.

Meanwhile the planet burned, poverty soared, housing continued to be unreachable, crime ran amok and a cost of living crisis robbed everyone of anything they had gained in the last 5 years.

Oh and The Working Group, easily NZs best weekly political podcast (that isn’t funded by NZ on Air) didn’t even get nominated at the NZ Podcast Awards???

RIGHT?

I mean what the actual fuck?

The Spinoff won for Christ’s sakes!

Come on, that’s a hate crime against basic meritocracy! Why not sell toilet water as wine!

A panel of lepers judging a beauty contest!

Anyway. I may be digressing.

Here are this years Infamous TDB Political Awards for 2022.

Best Cabinet Ministers: Michael Wood – Andrew Little – Chris Hipkins – David Parker
Michael Wood is a real People’s Hero, he has a moral compass and ethical perspective that marks him out as unique. He is one of the few voices inside Cabinet that is always fighting for a better deal for the most vulnerable in society. Called the Dumb Lives Matter Protestors a ‘river of filth’ and they have hated him ever since.

Andrew Little is great and funny and clever and has been handed the worst portfolio of Health with the Labour Public Service Mandarins getting sexually aroused by sim city games of rebuilding the bureaucratic structures of health while utterly ignoring the service provision. When you go to the Emergency Department you don’t give 2 shits if the backroom is centralised or run by Māori, you care that you will be seen quickly, safely and be healed. Despite corporatising a health system for the private interests of the consultants in the middle of a pandemic, Andrew still shines.

Chris Hipkins is one of the smartest and most clever Ministers in the game. Previous to his take over of Police, the SIS and GCSB were intercepting cartel communications with 501s and passing that intelligence up to the Americans and Australians rather than making it accessible to local Police to intercept and arrest because we are insipid slaves to our 5 Eye partners. Chippy came on board and slapped the stupid out of that position, could you imagine the fucking uproar from the sleepy hobbits of muddle Nu Zilind if they realised Cartel meth was being shipped in and the Intelligence services were only passing that info on to our American masters at the NSA? Chippy understood the danger, so the Police Intelligence Unit has been getting far better intel and the result has been a targeting of 501 and domestic gang drug infrastructure with a series of raids and arrests that have hit meth storage facilities. Chippy gets shit done, that is a rare quality in Ministers. He’s also very funny which is always a bonus.

David Parker is the Brain. He is on another planet of genius and is one of the few who is respected enough to not challenge. He needs to step up a lot more and be more vocal.

Worst Cabinet Minister: Carmel Sepuloni – Marama Davidson – Poto Williams

Carmel Sepuloni must be the most captured Minister in Christendom. Ever since her mum got unfairly busted for welfare fraud, MSD have had her by the short and curlies. MSD have backed off on the really, really, really draconian shit towards beneficiaries but their role in the historic state abuse cases and their desire to kill off Children Commissioner oversight of Oranga Tamariki (while still making any interaction with them as obtuse as possible) marks them out as the worst Government Ministry with far too much power to abuse the most vulnerable. It was hilarious how outraged we all were at National’s promise to push teens with disabilities off welfare only to find out that Labour had done it 4000 times in the last 5 years. Good one Carmel.

Marama Davidson, despite being the Minister for Homelessness, despite criticism that she hasn’t announced one new housing policy and only released 8 Press releases since becoming Minister, despite the appalling allegations made at the Rotorua Golden Mile, the Minister is missing in action to explain why her social housing policies as the Minister for Homelessness and as the Associate Minister for Housing are failing so appallingly!

Green apologists will claim Marama is simply an add on Minister with nothing more than the vacant baubles of power so can’t really do much, BUT THAT’S THE FUCKING PROBLEM ISN’T IT?

This Blog was very vocal in pointing out why the Greens shouldn’t have cut the deal they did, as was Sue Bradford and a dozen other true Green critics so now Marama is the fall guy for failed Labour policies, the Greens can’t pretend they weren’t aware of the strategic dangers they were inviting by giving Labour political cmamaflague on Housing and the Climate Crisis. Marama is great at championing chocolate in Te Reo, not so good on housing the homeless. Maybe she could build a house out of bicultural candy?

Poto Williams who? When she announced her resignation, we were all surprised because we thought she’d already left. Could you imagine if she had stayed on as Police Minister during the ram raids? Oh God. We would have already had a snap election.

Biggest Political Disappointment  – James Shaw

James Shaw set climate crisis expectations way down with his sleepy nothings that do little.

To appreciate how nothing James Shaw’s conclusion on what to do about catastrophic climate change is, it was immediately endorsed by the National Party whose evangelical leader probably believes global warming is happening because God is hugging earth extra tight.

Being carbon neutral in 28 years is not a solution!

By 2030, over 50% of the oceans will be collapsing as bio-habitats.

By 2030, East Coast cities in the U.S. can expect to see two to three-times as many flooding incidents.

By 2030, 122million will be driven into extreme poverty as  direct result of climate change.

By 2030, 100million will die as a direct consequence of climate change.

By 2030, even if the Paris Agreement is actually implemented, we will see a planet warm to 3.4 degrees by the end of this century meaning there will effectively be no future civilisation capable of surviving on a planet that warm.

By 2030, the global annual cost of global warming will be $3trillion.

2030, the number of extremely hot days — classified as maximum temperatures of more than 35C — are tipped to climb in all capital cities.

If you think being carbon neutral by 2050 is a solution, you are the problem.

At this stage the Greens are like a foreskin, in that they serve no purpose and everyone just wishes they were cut off.

Greatest Political Hypocrisy – Nanaia vs Kuriger
So despite doing everything the Cabinet Manuel requires for declaring conflicts of interest, Nanaia was accused all year of being part of a secret Māori elite who were stealing water off honkey because you know, fuck cracker.
This was apparently the most venal corruption in Western Civilisation and Nanaia’s family members (who are guilty of being Māori) were viciously attacked in some of the most feral racism I’ve ever seen in this country.
MEANWHILE Barbara Kruiger is caught sending 50 emails to MPI to prosecute her personal interests in getting her boy off animal cruelty charges. But that’s not a conflict of interest, oh no, that’s okay because she’s a mum looking after her son?
Oh and they are white.
The egregious double standards here by the political right are so fucking disgraceful, you racist AND hypercritical little punks.

Chinese businessman Zhou Jiexiang, pictured with Sir John Key, appears to be connected to a Chinese ‘police centre’ operating in Auckland
Biggest political whore for China – John Key
How much Chinese Government cock must John Key now suck?
Look I appreciate that’s pretty graphic, but sweet Jesus every single fucking time he opens his mouth to Chinese propaganda media, he is singing China’s praises!
Here he is doing it as little ago as last week!
Look we get that he sold his house for $20 odd million to Chinese business interests and that he is now connected to a possible clandestine Chinese police centre operating illegally in NZ (in what would be the largest political scandal between our two nations ever), but why is he so focused on being an apologist to one of the largest most repressive, human rights crushing Communist regimes on the face of the planet?
Does the Communist Party have Max’s pets held hostage or something?
Watching John blow the CCP every single month is remarkable and honestly brings the entire National Party under suspicion.

Biggest Political Win – Fair Pay Agreements

Tthe big story for workers this year was the passing of the Fair Pay Agreements which will effectively see universal union membership.

The main reason why wages are so depressed in NZ can be traced back to the 1991 Independent Contracts Act which de-unionised the workforce and broke the back of the union movement. Barely 10% of the NZ workforce are in Unions and without their collective bargaining power, wages and conditions have slipped backwards.

Fair Pay Agreements finally give workers real rights and finally forces the bosses to pay decent wages.

This is a courageous policy from Labour which represents the largest rollback of neoliberalism we have seen in 30 years.

Helen Kelly will finally be proud of this Government.

ACT and National have promised to immediately destroy it if elected in 2023.

Worst Combo ever
Biggest Political Crime – Removing OT oversight

Hand on heart, news of this decision had me so angry and enraged that I backed off, thought about life, the issues that are important to me as a human being and waited patiently for this offensive and insane decision to be wiped.

It wasn’t…

Questions left hanging as Minister for Social Development Carmel Sepuloni hangs up

Stuff reporter Aaron Smale attempted to interview Minister Carmel Sepuloni about the Oranga Tamariki Oversight Bill. The conversation ended with her hanging up on him. This is his retelling of what went down.

…so fuck it, let’s ride!

Demand for Children’s Commissioner to be retained amid Government reforms

Jacinda Ardern’s Government is facing mounting pressure about a proposed law to disestablish the role of the Children’s Commissioner as Amnesty International, the Human Rights Commission and Save the Children raise serious concerns about it.

Children’s Commissioner Judge Frances Eivers said the Oversight of Oranga Tamariki System and Children and Young People’s Commission Bill would “dilute” the commission’s power to advocate for children and young people.

This obscenity of a decision to strip oversight away from Oranga Tamariki is the latest assault on allowing any oversight of Oranga Tamariki from occurring because Critical Race Theory has raised its ugly head here and it needs to be amputated.

Before I start the slaughter, let’s recap what the hell Oranga Tamariki is.

It is a Frankenstein monster, a neoliberal welfare experiment conjured up by Bill English and big data.

The argument is that children from backgrounds with specific features were the worst in terms of cost to the state, so if the state stepped in and removed the children quickly enough, that cost will fall.

To do this they passed law reducing the legal rights of parents over children, streamlined  their 0800 numbers and weaponised uplifts.

Hilariously people with children taken from them are ineligible for legal aid so they can’t fight back legally.

This was all going dandy up until Newsroom started showing the video evidence of cops stealing babbies at birth.

The heat went on this neoliberal madness and in an attempt to curry favour with the new pro Maori Labour Party, Oranga Tamariki started taking Maori kids sent to live with white parents in an insane Critical Race Theory conclusion that white people can’t look after brown kids.

This latest demented view of the world has been ripped to shreds in court and produced the inevitable claims of racism when it’s OT being the racist.

NOW they want to cut out the oversight of the Children’s Commissioner and dilute any real ability to monitor OT abuses because the agency created to watch over OT (The Independent Children’s Monitor) is being folded into the Education Review Office for Christ’s sake…

Judith Aitken, who was chief executive of ERO in the 1990s, has been following the royal commission and is part of the Royal Commission Forum, an independent group of interested parties who give advice and feedback to the inquiry.

She has been horrified to learn of abuse, including sexual abuse, that occurred in schools that ERO reported on when she was in charge. The abuse was never picked up in those reports. One such school is Dilworth, which has been the subject of criminal investigations and convictions for offences that span decades.

Aitken says it underlines that ERO was only ever designed to inspect the performance of schools at the educational level. ERO was never designed to investigate complaints that arise from vulnerable children in state care. She says the restructure will embed a flawed system that is not up to the job.

…if ERO couldn’t spot endemic sexual child abuse at Dilworth for decades, how the Christ will they spot it in Oranga Tamariki?

Labour inherited a neoliberal experiment in welfare whose goal is to step in early and save the State down stream costs, now they are attempting to camouflage the abuse of Oranga Tamariki via an obtuse veil of bureaucracy with no oversight from the Children’s Commissioner.

Sepuloni has somehow managed to make state abuse of those they are charged to care for worse!

Why isn’t anyone demanding her sacking?

Best Opposition MP – Brooke Van Veldon – Chris Penk – Nicola Willas

Brooke Van Veldon is a rising star in ACT, she can make the craziest far right myth sound like a reasonable contribution and she is far sharper than most give her credit for and is a voice to a new generation of women turned off left wing politics. The glow in her eyes when she talks about how the State will sit on the shoulder of beneficiaries and control what they spend is Gollum level creepy.

Chris Penk is easily the funniest National MP and his Twitter account is worth following for the cracks and quips. Insanely talented, he will be front bench if National are elected in 2023.

Nicola Willis is the smartest National Party MP by such a margin that her suit pants are the second smartest MP. Watch how Luxon sacrifices her aspirations to be the next Finance Minister by giving it to David Seymour.

Dumb Lives Matter Qanon madness Award for services to crazy
We can not look at 2022 without talking about the Dumb Lives Matter Parliament protest which reshaped the entire dialogue and level of political polarisation.
I agreed with this Government’s Covid response which saw tens of thousands of lives saved  and I accepted that in a once in a century pandemic, a State as crippled by neoliberal underfunding like ours has been, actually performed incredibly well.
Were mistakes made? Of course, but the mandates and restrictions were necessary, so while I didn’t agree with the Dumb Lives Matter protestors, I absolutely supported their right to protest.
Were there malicious right wing fear grifters inciting people to extremism? Of course there were, but those far right fear grifters wouldn’t have an angry mob to exploit if we had been more transformational on the economic anxieties Covid triggered.
The feral nature of the protest was exacerbated by Mallard’s fuckwitedness and the Wellington Middle Class Maoists who were demanding the Police and Military storm the Lawn and bash the dirty filthy smelly Nazi lumpenproletariat from their cafes.
In the end there were no adults left to de-escalate and we played into the far right fear grifters hands with Mallard handing them a propaganda coup that has injected a dark treacle of radicalised hate into our political environment.
The protest symbolised everything wrong with NZ right now from the Qanon lunatics to the Wellington Woke.
Our politicians let us down and it was only the Police Commissioner who talked middle NZ down from invoking a Springbok Tour level incident.
In the end Police opened fire on protestors with rubber bullets, hijacked Fire equipment to use against protestors and even employed a sound weapon against protestors.
The only winners were the secret Police who have now conned tens of millions more out of the Government to spy on the Lumpenproletariat Nazis that Mallard radicalised.
Great moment NZ, well done, everyone was shit except the bloody Police Commissioner, how embarrassing for everyone concerned.

Best Politician – Chloe Swarbrick

After causing the largest wealth transfer to the richest in NZs history, after giving rich prick property speculators a 1 Trillion dollar wealth grab, the plan to dampen down on the inflation this has caused is for an unelected technocrat to engineer a recession to throw 120 000 jobs onto the scrap heap?

Or put another way by Chloe, “sacrificing the lowest income New Zealanders at the alter of economic orthodoxy”.

The Green Party result in recent Polling is poor when you consider the Housing crisis and the lack of real progress on child poverty and welfare reform.

Labour Left should be bolting to the Greens.

They are not.

Anything less than 15% at the 2023 election by the Greens should be seen as failure. The demographic of the electorate favours the Greens, the issues and lack of Labour action favours them and duh – climate change.

Chloe is a unique talent. She speaks with the energy of the new voting generation in a language that empowers and challenges. She is an incredible communicator and if she had the Leadership, she could dominate political debate.

She has shone every time she has spoken on any issue and can generate political excitement the way Jacinda used to.

Chloe is the leader we wished Jacinda was.

Best Activist – Golriz Ghahraman
Her leadership over the inaction by the Government to punish Iran for their deplorable human rights abuses has reminded everyone of her activist power and skills. She is constantly articulating a vision of a better politics that is only matched by Chloe and Julie Anne Genter in the Greens.

Worst Political Blunder –  Te Puke to Hawaii

You can always tell when the latest self inflicted mistake by Luxon has caused real political damage to his brand because the Right Wing Trolls go into super defense mode.

All the usual suspects have popped up telling us that it’s unfair to judge poor Chris Luxon for having a holiday, everyone is allowed a holiday, why be so jealous about his holiday, mumble mumble mumble Hawaii, it’s just a silly mislabelled social media post, the Left are so desperate to deflect, nothing to see here, mumble mumble mumble Hawaii.

To all of that I say, bullshit!

This has been an enormous fuck up to Luxon’s brand, and the fact National tried to hide him being in Hawaii by loading his week long social media feed to look like he was in NZ alerts us to the reality that they knew him holidaying in Hawaii while he is singing the cost of living crisis blues to a domestic audience would be politically damaging.

It’s the exact same problem he has with the tax cuts.

The fundamental problem for every right wing politician selling tax cuts is the following: Average Punter asks how much they are getting in tax cuts, and under National that’s $850 per year, and then they ask the politician trying to sell the tax cut how much they are getting, and in Luxon’s case it will be $18000 and average punters say fuck off – the poor aren’t stupid!

The exact same applies to Luxon singing the cost of living blues, all that faux concern looks like an act when he’s caught holidaying at a mansion in Hawaii for a little bit of him time with the fam.

You know, like we all do eh, especially after all the stress of Covid, we just pop on a flight for a wee break in fucking Hawaii don’t we all?

Oh that’s right – we don’t.

Having Mr 7 Properties holidaying in Hawaii while Kiwis shiver in poverty makes it hard to pretend he cares about a cost of living crisis that doesn’t impact him.

That’s why they tried to pretend Aloha Luxon was visiting working classes in Te Puke.

Let’s not forget, National purposely misled the public as to where Luxon was, not just with this one post, the entire week is peppered with posts that insinuated he was in NZ.

They knew it was politically damaging because it is fucking politically damaging. Sure he needs a holiday, but in basic respect to the very citizens  in economic pain who he’s been claiming to champion, a holiday should have been at a batch in NZ, not some obscenely grotesque affluence that 90% of his fellow citizens will never experience.

This goes directly to the character of Luxon, this is who he truly is, a rich prick who speaks fake comfort and anger to those hurting economically while he suns it up on a holiday most of those he’s claiming concern for will never share.

And the National Party, knowing it would be damaging to his political facade, repeatedly did all they could to hide the fact he was holidaying in a swanky Hawaiian beach house.

Luxon cries political tears over a cost of living crisis that never actually ever touches him.

Welcome to National – I’ll let you lick this ice cream, but not join a Union.

Dumbest Photo stunt 2022

Luxon’s photo op at McDonalds was such outrageous hypocrisy.

He’ll serve you a Big Mac and ice cream, but he won’t allow fast food workers to join a union!

A rich Christian who believes his ownership of 7 properties is proof positive that Jesus loves him slumming it at Macca’s while his Party votes against Fair Pay Agreements is like Trump hosting diversity training and lecturing everyone on bigotry.

Luxon is happy pretend to be a precarious worker while doing nothing to stop that precarious working environment in the first place!

National have no solutions to the huge problems facing us, all they have is a list of Labour Party legislation they intend to burn and slash the moment they take power.

That’s not Government, that’s political vandalism!

All people are doing by voting National is promoting a book burning and pretending that’s a solution.

Best Leader – David Seymour
Love him or hate him, you can not deny the talent, skill and brilliance of David Seymour.
ACT were on .7% in 2018. I told the woke middle class activists at the time that if they continued attacking free speech they would inadvertently trigger a dormant political fault line and reactivate ACT.
The middle class woke activists didn’t listen to me, continued to attack free speech and inadvertently triggered a dormant political fault line and reactivated ACT.
ACT have gone from .7% to 12.5%.
Thanks middle class woke activists for starting a culture war the Left could never win.
Seymour is so much smarter than Luxon he will play Chris for everything ACT want in a National/ACT Government.
The quick yellow fox will jump all over the lazy blue dog.

It was outrageous of Jacinda calling David Seymour a ‘arrogant prick’.

He isn’t!

He’s a dangerous prick.

Arrogant suggests an intellectual vanity that David doesn’t possess. His sociopathy is far more dangerous than that!

This is a man who texted out a Māori health code at the height of the pandemic for shits and giggles.

This is a man demanding ankle bracelets on 11 years and when National set it at 10 years he accused them of stealing his policy!

This is a man who if a National Party are elected will be the next Finance Minister of the country with a glassy eyed vision of taking a chainsaw to the States capacity to provide the basic level of living standards in a liberal progressive democracy.

ACT have been a ceaseless political war machine for the ideological right and if they are elected with National next year, we will all be calling David far, far, far worse than arrogant prick.

Worst Leader – Marama Davidson & James Shaw
The homelessness Minister has been missing in action as the homelessness problems got worse and the Emergency Housing scheme was labelled a human rights abuse while James Shaw went to COP27 and came back with some magic beans. On almost every level of Green policy they have failed other than woke identity politics.
It’s so depressing.
That’s even more depressing.
If this is success I’d hate to see what failure looks like.

Best Party – ACT & Māori Party

ACT’s incredible discipline and focus have given them a political advantage never before seen in its political history while the Māori Party use the new links into Māori communities created by the inoculation drive to connect with Māori communities that don’t vote. Both parties will play huge roles in whatever new Government wins in 2023.

Dumbest Politician – Kelvin Davis

Because I’m a political tragic, I had Parliament TV on in the background when Kelvin bewilderingly chose to shit all over ACT Party MP, Karen Chhour.

I disagree vehemently with ACT MPs and their dangerous conflict policies, but as a human being, Karen Chhour is no Sam Uffindell, she has not had a life of privilege and nor does she ask questions from a ludicrously sheltered life of wealth, she has had an astonishingly  hard life made deplorable by state intervention, her Maiden Speech was a harrowing tale of abuse and redemption through hard personal resilience, you can see why she has come to these perspectives…

ACT thinks this can’t really take place while there is such a focus on race and culture in the organisation delivering that protection.

As I said recently, when Grainne Moss stood down as Oranga Tamariki chief executive, ethnicity and culture should not be how we decide what is in the best interests of children.

Oranga Tamariki should be colour-blind and open to whatever will ensure a child’s wellbeing and safety.

It’s not a one size fits all thing, and having legislation that tries to make it that way doesn’t work for our children.

If that means placing a vulnerable child into the home of a family who desperately want to love and care for them, rather than doing everything possible to place the child back into the family that made them vulnerable in the first place, then that should be the solution.

As someone who has experienced three elements of placement – non family who wanted me, family who didn’t and extended family who did – I can tell you, as a young person you’ll take love, compassion and stability wherever you can find it.

That’s why ACT believes Oranga Tamariki needs reform, just not in the way that reform looks likely to be done under this Government.

…now we can disagree on how this all gets implemented, but she ain’t no Honkey from Cracker town going on about Māori privilege eh?

She’s a Māori woman who has faced the grim reality of the State, and at the very least, her perspective deserve to be respected.

Which is not what Kelvin did.

Bloody Kelvin.

There are a few different Kelvins.

There is the humble servant to his community whom he does tirelessly serve in his electorate.

There is the funny, personable Kelvin who is full of clever insights when he’s talking to small groups.

Then there is the Kelvin who is painfully shy when on camera to the point you cringe.

And then there’s reading poetry on Election Night 2020 Kelvin where he almost goes on the spectrum of misreading the room.

When he said…

“cross the bridge that is Te Tiriti o Waitangi from her Pākehā world into the Māori world”.

…I actually choked on my coffee.

There was no reason nor need to denigrate Chhour’s identity in answering her legitimate question about Oranga Tamariki and his doubling down was just as bewildering…

“no good looking at the world from a vanilla lens”.

…ok. Ok. Ok.

So much dumb all at once, the only redeeming feature in all of this is that Kelvin clearly reflected on it over right and immediately apologised the next day.

That’s the only redeeming feature here.

The true irony in all of this, is that ACT’s actual policy would be disastrous to Māori and would spark a race war if ACT tried to implement it all.

The $7billion they intend to cut out of welfare and the closure of the Ministry of Māori Affairs alongside eliminating the Māori seats are all policies that will trigger mass protests the likes we haven’t seen, and ACT are active about promoting these conflict policies.

Chhour has every right to question the State on social service providers that have scarred her childhood, and her Party urgently needs to be challenged on their conflict policies that I absolutely believe could spark civil disorder, but denigrating her identity to do it as Kelvin did only handed ACT self righteous ammunition to fire back with.

Bloody Kelvin.

Worst Party – Labour
Bloody Labour!
An unprecedented MMP majority and yet they still couldn’t do anything transformative!

3 Waters, co-governance, free speech, all needless fuck ups while the real mahi isn’t getting done. The Labour wonks and geeks seem to think rearranging the bureaucratic structure of services is how we win continued electoral support, rather than focusing on the end user experience for those services!

When you go to the Emergency Department, you don’t care that the back room has been centralised, all you care is that you will be seen in a short amount of time and your care is safe and will heal you.

Labour have spent far too much energy doing Sim city rebuilds of bureaucratic reform and and not nearly enough on dealing with people’s material well being.

‘Well Being’ for Labour seems to be a Māori sign language advert produced in Wellington with a diverse cast of actors.

We have ended up cheerleading esoteric issues like land rights for gay whales.

People are struggling and things are getting worse, not better. Structural problems that won’t be solved by rearranging the bureaucratic deckchairs on the Titanic!

You have squandered so much for so little.

Most influential political activism – Taxpayer’s Union – Corporate Consultants

No one has been as successful at political shit stirring and influence quite like the Taxpayers’ Union.

The connection between corporate farmers, the feral Groundswell and right wing spin drs who have conspired to undermine 3 Waters are doing so because this has ultimately always been about cost and the way corporate farming escapes the true price of the water they take and pollute!

Watching how this has been twisted into a race war by those who don’t want to pay for their pollution is as sad as the emotional manipulation driving the Ram Raiders debate thanks to crime porn clickbait from a ratings chasing Corporate Media.

We have been played over co-governance when the drivers of this movement were always corporate farming profit margin based masquerading as democratic concern.

Watching the Taxpayers’ Union manipulate the agenda as well as they have deserves a standing ovation from the House of Machiavelli. They have been as effective as the corporate consultants to Labour who take a billion a year to play Sim City bureaucratic deck chair rearrangements.

Upside down, the CTU logo is the Chinese character for ‘Failure’

No! Way!

Council of Trade Unions denounces protest?!?

Council Of Trade Unions Calls For End To Anti-mandate Protest

“The NZCTU understands that the right to participate in protest actions is a fundamental element of freedom of expression and a sign of a healthy and functioning democracy. The NZCTU proudly upholds and exercises these rights to protest in NZ.

“The current protest in and around the Parliament precinct however is not simply about the right to protest and we do not support it continuing, nor do we support the basic anti-mandate call being made by the protestors.

“We are concerned by the undue ongoing disruption it is causing workers and their families, including school children and students. The protest is having a negative impact on workers in the vicinity being able to do their jobs safely, and without abuse. The protest has involved harassment of the public, it has prevented workers from moving around and from accessing public transport, it has blocked roads and put emergency services at risk.

“We are further concerned at the tone of much of the protest, calling for violence against our elected representatives and the media. Let alone the conspiracy theories and unscientific assertions being circulated in an effort to undermine our public health response. These are not actions consistent with a free and open democratic society.

“We therefore ask that the protest at the Parliament precinct end immediately,” says Richard Wagstaff

If you wanted a clearer picture of the Cognitive dissonance that is plaguing the Middle Class Woke Marxists, it’s the Council of fucking Trade Unions, an organisation built by protest, an organisation that actively uses protest, attacking another protest because it’s not the right kind of protest.

The Middle Class Marxists want a revolution that knows its pronouns! It doesn’t want the smelly lumpenproletariat spoiling the aesthetics of their dinner party activism.

Legendary working class hero Helen Kelly will be turning in her grave watching the CTU side with the professional managerial class over the economic pain of the lumpenproletariat.

You would think the CTUs shameful Unemployment Insurance that empowers white collar bureaucrats most was the lowest they could fall, but shitting on another’s protest when protest is the bread and butter of the Union movement is an extraordinary hypocrisy made possible by the middle class flunkies who staff it.

Oh and fuck Neale Jones.

Green Party Coup Delegates debate sacrificing their last Heteronormative White cis Male during their annual environmental festival.
Dumbest Political Self Mutilation – Green Party Phantom Coup

Watching the slow motion disaster of the Green Party Phantom Coup ineptitude is so painful.

The Greens are so incompetent they couldn’t get laid wearing banana costumes at a vegan kink brothel.

Put aside the strategic and tactical amateurishness of these clowns, the true tragedy of the phantom Green Party Coup is that they are squabbling while the planet melts, and it is melting.

As TDB has been pointing out since we began 10 years ago, the climate crisis is an existential threat to our species and it’s only getting worse…

‘Soon it will be unrecognisable’: total climate meltdown cannot be stopped, says expert

Blistering heatwaves are just the start. We must accept how bad things are before we can head off global catastrophe, according to a leading UK scientist

…how bad will it get?

Under our feet As vast, thick sheets of ice disappear from high mountains and from the poles, rock crusts that had previously been compressed are beginning to rebound, threatening to trigger earthquakes and tsunamis. “We are on track to bequeath to our children and their children not only a far hotter world, but also a more geologically fractious one,” says Bill McGuire.

New battlefields As crops burn and hunger spreads, communities are coming into conflict and the election of populist leaders – who will promise the Earth to their people – is likely to become commonplace. Most worrying are the tensions over dwindling water supplies that are growing between India, Pakistan and China, all possessors of atomic weapons. “The last thing we need is a hot war over water between two of the world’s nuclear powers,” McGuire observes.

Methane bombs Produced by wetlands, cattle and termites, methane is 86 times more potent in its power to heat the atmosphere than carbon dioxide, though fortunately it hangs around for much less time. The problem is that much of the world’s methane is trapped in layers of Arctic permafrost. As these melt, more methane will be released and our world will get even hotter.

Losing the Gulf Stream As the ice caps melt, the resulting cold water pouring from the Arctic threatens to block or divert the Gulf Stream, which carries a prodigious amount of heat from the tropics to the seas around Europe. Signs now suggest the Gulf Stream is already weakening and could shut down completely before end of the century, triggering powerful winter storms over Europe.

Calorie crunch Four-fifths of all calories consumed across the world come from just 10 crop plants including wheat, maize and rice. Many of these staples will not grow well under the higher temperatures that will soon become the norm, pointing towards a massive cut in the availability of food, which will have a catastrophic impact across the planet, says McGuire.”

While this all unfolds, the Greens disintegrate into woke identity politics factions and incremental meaninglessness.

The moment demands more from our politicians and activist base, unfortunately they are not up to the moment.

The Greens fiddle while the planet burns.

Best Māori MP – Willie Jackson
Despite Thomas Coghlan’s best attempt to have Willie sacked for his Jack Tame interview, Jackson remains the best Māori MP in Parliament.
Ben Thomas at Spinoff calls Willie a ‘liability’! This ‘liability’ who pulls enormous political power from urban Māori is why Labour won in 2017 and 2020. This ‘liability’ is who keeps winning Māori electorates for Labour and it is this ‘liability’ who has managed more funding for Māori than anyone else!
In 5 years, he and the Māori Caucus have gained $3.5billion in extra funding for Māori, that’s almost 3 times the amount the Waitangi Tribunal has spent in reparations for having the entire country stolen.
Willie is so successful because he’s an old school Unionist, the youngest Meat Workers Union Boss and he knows how to negotiate. The other factions inside Labour are weak and hopeless and haven’t learned the lesson of the Michael Joseph Savage Cabinet.

The left love Michael Joseph Savage. Every Labour MP who wishes to push their left wing credentials have photos of him hanging in every electorate office and Minister’s room.

Savage is lauded as the creator of the welfare state in the wake of the Great Depression.

He was swamped when he went into public as NZers gushed over how he had saved them all.

The most hilarious truth, provided by insights from John A Lee who served in Savage’s Cabinet and was the anti-Phil Twyford of his day, (in that he actually built Houses) paints a very different picture from the mythology the left have given Savage .

The truth is that Savage was incredibly centrist and not a radical at all. Backed up by the neoliberal Walter Nash and conservative manipulator Peter Fraser, Savage did all he could to stop transformative change, it was actually Savage’s Caucus who forced his hand repeatedly to be transformative.

The exact same dynamics are at play inside Jacinda’s Labour Government and the Māori Caucus has been one of the few factions to successfully navigate these tensions.

If the other factions stop being wimps we could get more done.

Dumbest Policy – ACT and National
Right now, we have National and ACT trying to out do each other on bullshit punitive law and order. ACT scream 11 year olds should have ankle bracelets, National cry out 10 year olds should have ankle bracelets.  This is how dumb politics has sunk to now.

The Boomer King Wayne Brown surveys his new kingdom of Auckland
Greatest Political Scam – Boomer King Wayne Brown winning a rigged election and then privatising Auckland City

You’ll remember that when the Boomer King Wayne Burns won, I said the following

I would expect a ‘report’ to come out suggesting a vast leap in rates to cover the perilous position Auckland has been left in and that those rates will terrify and enrage ratepayers.

…well fuck me brothers and sisters, the ‘I-told-you-so-express’ is on time again!

Gasp at the horror!

Auckland Council $270m budget hole: Mayor Wayne Brown responds, says 12pc rates rises unacceptable and won’t happen

Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown says the prospect of steep rates rises is not acceptable and will not happen as a result of a huge financial hole in the council budget.

Brown was responding to a story in today’s Herald saying stubbornly high inflation, wage rises and interest costs have seen the projected budget hole of between $90 million and $150m balloon to $270m.

He confirmed the council’s governing body needs to find $270 million quickly to cover its growing budget hole for the 2023/24 financial year.

“The $270 million budget hole is a legacy of former mayor Phil Goff papering over the fiscal cracks and passing the buck to the new Governing Body, and not being prepared to confront poor performance by Council Controlled Organisations (CCOs) and Ports of Auckland Ltd (POAL) over six years,” Brown said.

…to avoid this 12% rate rise, the Boomer King will suddenly find some Auckland asset that we don’t really need and the slash and burn of Auckland’s assets will begin apace to the same Chinese Business interests and Graham Hart interests that supported the Boomer King’s Mayoralty race.

Are Aucklanders dumb enough to get played like this?

Of course we are dumb enough to get played like this!

WE ARE BEING PLAYED LIKE THIS!

Perhaps, just perhaps, if the local elections weren’t contracted out to a private company that only saw 8 polling booths for 1.2million Aucklanders more people might have voted and averted the looming privatisation fire sale.

Auckland deserves everything about to happen to us.

SPOT THE DIFFERENCE: Trick question. There is none.

Missed opportunity of a political generation:  Efeso Collins
The wasteland of apathy that local elections have fallen into is utterly predictable. A single company is paid to run our elections, and they don’t give a fuck if participation rates are low! In the end there were only a dozen placed to cast a special vote, most had no idea where their postal ballot was and the entire fiasco entrenches privilege and wealth.
We lost out on electing the first Pacific Islander as Mayor and we have lost the incredible representation of Efeso Collins who now is out of local body elections. One of the best leaders of our generation has been kicked out of office.
Aucklanders should weep.
Efeso didn’t fail Auckland, Auckland failed Efeso.
Labour’s continued animosity towards Efeso being a free thinker and not a blindly loyal time server means he will not get any love from them. If the Greens were smart, they would take Efeso up in a millisecond.

Most deluded political personality – Dr Sharma – Brian Tamaki – Liz Gunn – Sue Grey – Billy TK – Matt King
A cavalcade of fear grifting muppets who have replaced political ideology with conspiracy theories alongside Dr Sharma whose micro aggression policing martyrdom managed to sum up everything people despise about millennials. A plague on all their houses.

Political Outsiders Awards – Mike King, The Drug Foundation, Malcolm Mulholland, Louisa Wall and Paul Hunt

Each have championed critical criticism of the existing system and all have been punished for doing so. Each are heroes for continuing to fight for the rights of others against a self serving public service.

Worst Political Hate Crime – Trevor Mallard

Look.

I didn’t ever like Trevor Mallard.

I respected him.

But I didn’t like him.

Every time we’ve met, he’s been a smug condescending prick and I see no chance of him ever changing.

But I respect him.

I believe he’s passionate about the due process of democracy.

I believe he’s been one of the best Speakers.

I believe he respected the role and the mana of the Speaker.

When Labour tried to gerrymander select committee meetings, he’d punish them with extra questions to the Opposition in the House.

He was someone who gave 30+ years of public service and that, regardless of what Party you are in, is remarkable.

But I also think he’s an unlikeable prick with a terrible short man syndrome that has left him with two chips on both shoulders and a breath taking capacity to ‘go there’ physically at the drop of a hat.

There’s no threat Trev can’t overkill.

And that was ultimately is undoing.

His over protective nature to his team caused two enormous blunders that blight his otherwise bright career.

One was devastating for the individual involved, the other we have yet to fully appreciate the damage of.

His first blight was his bewildering desire to get down with the woke kids at Parliament with their new definition of rape which amounted to an unwanted hug. To come out and declare a staffer of being rapist using the new definitions of woke micro aggression policing was an example of Poppa Bear Trev getting all growly and over defensive for those he saw protecting.

It ended up costing us $330 000!

Parliament’s Speaker Trevor Mallard costs taxpayer $333,000 after rape allegation

Speaker Trevor Mallard has cost the taxpayer more than $333,000 after a parliamentary staffer he accused of rape pursued legal action, and the National Party now says it can no longer support Mallard in the job.

The figure, revealed to the National Party in a written parliamentary question, includes a $158,000 settlement payment from the Speaker to the staffer, $171,000 to cover legal fees, and $4641.70 for Crown Law advice to the former deputy speaker.

Mallard on Tuesday afternoon publicly apologised to the staffer, saying, in a statement, he had been wrong to describe the allegation as rape, and apologised for the “distress and humiliation” this caused the staffer.

The statement was slipped under the Stuff press gallery office door on Tuesday afternoon, hours after the Royal Commission on the March 15 terror attack released its report. It did not detail the cost of the settlement.

For the Staffer it was an egregious destruction of an entire career so Trev could feel protective.

The other blight to his legacy however is more dangerous and far more frightening.

His handling of the Dumb Lives Matter protestors on Parliament’s Lawns provoked and escalated this violence while recruiting and radicalising thousands!

REMEMBER! By the end of Wednesday, the factions within this ‘movement’ were already turning on each other with various groups criticising other faction leaders.

They hadn’t been able to use their numbers to seriously threaten Parliament and they were already leaving because of internal disputes over the attempt to force conflict on the Wednesday.

This was a protest movement the was dying on Thursday morning!

That all changed when Trev had a spurt of blood to the head, and got all grumpy protector bear and ordered the State to clear the lawn…

…Let’s be very fucking clear.

He didn’t have to do that, and he shouldn’t have done that!

He immediately created a common enemy for the protestors while live streaming a 10 hour recruitment video to the country!

That weekend there were 5 times the number of protestors!

His basic bitch warehouse bargain basement psy-ops using the spraying of water and loud music at night which provoked the riot on Parliament’s lawns combined with his Office trespassing politicians from Parliament made this a cluster fuck of gasp inducing enormity.

The reason the wider Left are so silent on criticising Mallard’s actions (as seen in the zero criticism of him in Stuff’s Fire and Fury middle propaganda) is because many of the Middle Class Wellington Marxists screamed for the Police to bash the smelly lumpenproletariat Nazis because they had their work from home privilege threatened by angry scary brown poor people whom they claim at Wellington dinner parties to care about.

This is woke edge lord Clint Smith, high priestess of the Wellington woke demanding Andrew Coster be sacked for not bashing the smelly lumpenproletariat Nazis…

…Mallard’s role in provoking what happened on Parliament’s Lawns will never be examined by Wellington’s middle class Marxists because he protected their sense of privilege as well. He has managed to get away with causing all this radicalisation without any accountability whatsofuckingever.

***

At Helen Kelly’s Funeral in Wellington, Mallard stood and recounted his personal trauma in the wake of the Pike River disaster asking Helen, ‘what could I have done differently to have prevented that’.

I fear the true legacy of radicalised hate Trevor planted on the lawns of Parliament have yet to bloom their harvest of malice and that he may well be standing at another political memorial in the future asking the exact same question.

If I were Trev, I’d want to be on the other side of the planet when that poison bag of violence bursts too.

  1. Best place to vent, get told to fuck off, have a laugh at hilarioud comments and generally solve all the world’s problems:
    The Daily Blog.

  2. Always a great read, but a few I disagree with .

Cabinet Ministers. David Parker deserves the medal. He stood up against the Rotorua admin bill and attempts to sneak through undemocratic cogovernance. He ids the only one who deserves credit and a lot of it.
Andrew Little should be sacked. He has managed to alienate the health workforce, while devoting time and money for a health restructure during a pandemic. If you doubt this Martyn, read Ian Powell latest article on this bog site

  3. Some awards from me:

Bill English Award (snatching defeat from victory) – Simon Bridges. Should have had the numbers to roll Collins. Decided to play little games and lost the leadership AGAIN. A wasted career hurtling towards the trough. Could have enjoyed Christmas knowing 2023 was his to lose.

Harry Tam/501 Award (political intimidation) – Nania Mahutacorp. Played a game of chicken. Jacinda flinched.

Donald Trump (Political Narcism) Award – Jacinda Trump. For every believer there is now 1.5 males that hate her fucking guts. Like the GOP Robertson is hostage to Greg Bannon, Neale Hannity & Clint Carlson.

The Phoenix Award (political resurrection) – Mark Mitchell. Went from middle of fucking nowhere to top 5 opposition in the space of 3 months.

The New Zimbabwe Award (fucking up a ministry) – Andrew Little. Health in NZ MIGHT recover from Little’s tenure by 2060. We can’t fund cancer drugs but Maori spirituality courses no problem at all.

  4. Agree with some but not all.

Poto. A disaster as Police Minister but she wasn’t there for her law enforcement knowledge, it was part of Jacinda’s kindness to crime strategy along with Andrew Coster, using Poto’s experience on social work and Kelvin Davis’s jail emptying. Jacinda is the problem here and I feel for Poto to be fair! And she was there in the thick of the ram raids. They’ve been going on that long!

Chippy. Also no experience in law enforcement but who cares, it was his job to get serious crime off the front pages with his used car sales routine in classic Ardern Labour smoke and mirrors politics. Failed miserably. Crime is killing Labour!

Kelvin. The minister who has delivered more than just about any other. The jail emptying is nearing 30%, the judiciary aren’t topping it back up with daily/weekly reports of heinous violent criminals getting a mere Home D, the police chase their tails, all because Kelvin told us he was going to do this and he has. But it’s probably got an awful lot of to do with Labours crime wave problem!

Andrew Little. Didn’t realise $1.8 billion dedicated to mental health improvement had only gained 5 beds until the opposition told him. This month Christchurch’s Hillmorton mental health hospital is closing its inpatient ward as it staffing has become that dysfunctional. If Little is a success, I’d hate to see failure! I suspect Mike King sees the same hopelessness I do.

I agree that Willie is a stand out. Tireless achiever. The irony is it seems he’d prefer his toiling go unnoticed. Can’t imagine why that is!

  5. Pfffffft. Next.
Neoliberal and 3rdway politics changed everything. It needs to come to its natural conclusion, AND it is.
Even the likes of Josie Pagani and the work-life-balanced, and other media ‘stars’ are beginning to realise that.

While we can LOL and engage in various self-indulgent and egotistical eruptions in political speculation – there are some seriously evil arseholes in our “political ecosystem” in its “space, going forward”

E.G. – I’ve seen a grieving monkey (VERY obviously distressed) over her child having been runover on a highway showing more compassion and concern than a Sepuloni and her enterage of cargo cult spin merchants. There goes one ugly woman who seems to think she’s the cat’s whisker

  6. Martyn – Half of the list is correct—well done (Green Party not good), the other half is not correct (Maori Party is good)

  7. Best Maori politician….Shane Reti
Best future Minister of Health ….Shane Reti.
Minister who had the most family/husband contracts awarded …..Nainaia Mahuta (come on Martyn it wasn’t Mahuta that was investigated, it was the public service who awarded the contracts. Mahuta appointed her niece directly to be on the panel who wrote Hepuapua (she didn’t manage this conflict at all). Guilty as charged.
    Worst politican….Trevor Mallard
Most openly disrespectful of the people who pay his salary ….Michael (river of filth) Wood
The absolute lunacy award…..Deborah Russell, Rachael Boyack, Ginnie Anderson and the Greens very own Elizabeth Kerekere, for displaying their absolute suspension of biological reality when sitting on the Gender ID and the Conversion Therapy sub committee.
Best adherers to a cult (Gender ideology) women as above.
Most sexist politician ……Grant Robertson who described women, who want to preseve sporting competitions for biological women only , as petty and small minded.

  8. Too harsh on James Shaw. Climate Change policy has to endure for decades through multiple governments. That is why it is essential that both major parties support the most important initiatives. The very thing that Martyn is critical about (forging a consensus) is the very thing that is Shaw’s enormous success. In my view it will be seen as the most enduring of all political achievements of 2022.

Way too many activists in this area, who lack any serious technological or economic background, have no idea how difficult it will be to achieve net zero by 2050. It requires a complete transformation of the economy. That is not something that can be done in a small number of years.

For instance, it requires that just about every transport system be zero emission. In a country where the average car age is 14 years, that will not be easy. 28 years will be only just enough time. It means no imports of ICE cars from 2035 onward. Think about it. That is only 12 years from now. No second hand Japanese cars that are not electric (or at least Plug in Hybrids) from 2035 onward. The Truck fleet will need to be all electric imports in just 12 years.

This is going to be challenging. You only have to see how difficult it is to corral the rural sector. National is going to have to step up on this, given that rural NZ is one of their core constituencies. National’s current strategy of being a small target won’t wash in this area in 2023. They will have to be clear as to what they will do to achieve the goal that they have signed up to.

    • Bring that 12 years down to half that. Business has taken on the mantle of being the great disrupter and vented its obsession on we da people. Let it handle disruption itself and work out how to surf on the waves of risk nicely into the beach, or not. Business has got to get busy now, not looking to extend time lines out. Work out what people need within their products to supply, and concentrate on meeting requirements for environment and transport difficulties etc the day after tomorrow – not 2035-50-60.

  9. Fake News, Lame Stream Media, Lugen press.

The media has been a frequent target of the Far Right and the Russian bots to throw a blanket smear over the whole media spectrum to shake the public’s faith in these institutions and the journalists who work in them.

It’s good to see our media personalities and their news outlets being recognised for their contribution to our democracy, with a rating of their worth and dedication to their craft

May they speak truth to power, without fear or favour

    • If you follow the gender ideology debate Pat, you will found our woke media, especially Stuff, completely control and regulate what is said about gender ideology. There are endless puff pieces about Trans women. The arguments for womens rights are distorted into this picture of gender critical women being bigots and transphobes.

Seeing this portrayal of the issues in our media, had lead to a deep mistrust of what is published.

  10. Meanwhile the planet burned……Not down south …that’s for sure…how do we get some of this burning planet please….I’ve never seen such an overcast start to summer……we will be needing vitamin D pills soon if this burning keeps up…

  11. “The Greens are so incompetent they couldn’t get laid wearing banana costumes at a vegan kink brothel.”

To me, that beats Seymour’s quote about Robertson being more of a threat to lamingtons than vice versa.

  12. Eh! if these fools think they the farm fence are goin to waltz in,come the next election, look at the industrial disater that is now evolving all over Europe,as corporate political freinds, tinker, with not only profits, but uncaring humanity of the producers of profits and wealth, the Prolatariat.Brings to mind, that classic Kinks album,Low Budget.
