  1. Plenny of drugs at the drug rehab clinic

    Recently I visited my local bank to make a deposit and was confronted by a bank teller reluctant to provide service. The lady with the thick accent wanted from me, a decades-old account holder, two forms of identification and a blood sworn confession that I would tell the truth and nothing but the truth about my transaction. It was all to do with the anti money laundering campaign rolled out by government and enforced by branch nazis. Today I read about gang mother’s and associates and members in possession of cash and drugs at a rehabilitation centre

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2022/10/auckland-drug-rehab-centre-raided-by-police-founded-by-mother-of-high-up-members-of-head-hunters-gang-report-says.html

    My question is to the government: how is it that tens of millions of taxpayer money is spent on these drug programs without question or accountability and yet I can’t visit a bank to deposit $20 without being accused of financial fucking crime? And while I’m at it, why is the New Zealand taxpayer funding the Ukrainian regime who are now destroying civilian infrastructure as well as killing innocents while selling our military aid on the black market? Isn’t the anti money laundering legislation designed to combat this?

  2. With all the sad and bad news and thoughts that circulate it is timely to look at something that is joyful with people happily doing things together, and perhaps music can be part of this.
    This is an old 2012 flash mob link of Russian young people dancing and performing to Putting on the Ritz. It’s very well presented and their happiness at putting it on while light snow falls round them always cheers me up. (Keywords youtube flash Moscow putting Ritz.) It is sad that realpolitik will continue and dominant tides of belief will always crush the naive and joyful but let it pop up where it may.

    All I have is a voice
    To undo the folded lie,
    The romantic lie in the brain
    Of the sensual man-in-the-street
    And the lie of Authority
    Whose buildings grope the sky:
    There is no such thing as the State
    And no one exists alone;
    Hunger allows no choice
    To the citizen or the police;
    We must love one another or die.

    Defenceless under the night
    Our world in stupor lies;
    Yet, dotted everywhere,
    Ironic points of light
    Flash out wherever the Just
    Exchange their messages:
    May I, composed like them
    Of Eros and of dust,
    Beleaguered by the same
    Negation and despair,
    Show an affirming flame.

  3. Uh oh. NZ is crumbling under the weight of neoliberal stratagems.

    Can we have an early national election before we fall apart completely? I don’t believe we would be out of the woods with National at the helm, but I think they would come out and fight about disagreements. Not just throw poisoned paper darts saying ‘You’re cancelled’ and lock you out of the House. A country can’t be run while significant Members and Advisors are having sustained hissy-fits!

    We must find a way to get back to where we were in the 1980’s. I’s a bit like Hotel California words. We can’t face the future and roll around in drug-induced flights of fantasy when there is hard yakker to do and we need goodwill and commitment to the polity, each other, kindness and practicality in harness. Then we can gain a good working team in this country; we haven’t got that now and it’s killing off our spirit, our expertise and our national income – everything is getting into some furriner.s pocket. Slow down the onslaught and build up the Home Farm and make it a hub for skills and innovation done by NZs and provide the amenities like hospitals that we used to have before Labour tried to beat National at selling us down the river.

  4. Today is the 73rd anniversary of the formation of the left-wing party that continues to protect the Korean people against foreign aggression. Despite the American murder of millions of Koreans just because Americans love to murder humans for fun, the repression of all left-wing forces by the American puppet regime in the south, and the destruction of 90% of Korea’s cities by American bombing, the Worker’s Party of all-Korea has soldiered on. God bless the WPK. Death to America.

  5. Can we instal beacons sending sound waves that the whales will recognise that will say to them this is not a good path, and instal them to warn the whales and dophins ‘Keep Away’. Surely that is not beyond us – we can find money to burn for stadiums with lots of seating for the idle spectators. Is spectating what we do best?

  6. Setting up a society where to so many things are kept tantalising out of reach and with so many ending up in prison. Then they can’t ensure that there is training and jobs for the required controls and habilitation etc. of the prisoners. Very irresponsible of government. This must change – people are enjoying getting the boot into Russia – anything that happens there could in time happen here with our lax virtually amoral attitudes.

    https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/476421/prison-visitors-ban-unconscionable-advocacy-group
    An indefinite ban on face-to-face visits in some prisons will have a hugely detrimental effect, particularly on the children of prisoners, a prison advocacy group says.
    Seven prisons are shut off from the public with no clear end date as the Department of Corrections scrambles to fill 500 vacancies.
    Corrections cites safety concerns as the reason for the ban.

    Pillars is an advocacy group for the children and whānau of those serving a prison sentence.
    General manager Maxine Gay said the decision would have huge knock on effects.

  7. Fact for today! Trains in train when gummint can find the money. https://wellington.scoop.co.nz/?p=147998

    Supporting fact: Since 2010, New Zealand has spent over $1.8 billion on the Waikato Expressway. By comparison consultants last year estimated it would cost $1.5 billion to electrify the North Island main trunk and Wairarapa line to Masterton, the east coast main trunk to Tauranga, and buy new electric trains for them.

    Pro-rail banner over motorway closes SH1 to southbound traffic for 3 hours
    October 10, 2022

    News from ‘Restore Rail’
    Three people have climbed a gantry above the Wellington Urban Motorway near Bowen Street with a large banner: Restore Passenger Rail. They say the decision to disrupt traffic was not taken lightly, and indicates the urgency of the issue.

    “We told the Government that we would begin civil resistance if they did not agree to Restore Passenger Rail. Affordable and accessible passenger rail will help bring people together. It’s the right thing to do in the middle of a climate emergency” says spokesperson James Cockle.

    The three Restore Passenger Rail supporters are peacefully occupying the gantry above the motorway to start a series of disruptions to highlight the need for an affordable nationwide train network. Supporters also held demonstrations in Whakatū, Tāmaki Makaurau and Ōtepoti.
