Israeli Ambassador should be first on a plane home

With the government considering expelling the Russian Ambassador over renewed threats to annex areas of Ukraine, PSNA is calling for the government to first apply the same logic to Israel and expel the Israeli Ambassador.

“The Israeli Ambassador should be the first one on a plane home”, says PSNA National Chair John Minto. “Israel’s policies of annexing (stealing) Palestinian land, denial of human rights to Palestinians and murdering Palestinians who resist its military occupation are legendary.”

In recent years Israel has annexed the Syrian Golan Heights, annexed East Jerusalem and Israeli leaders have repeatedly threatened the annexation of vast areas of Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank.

“Today, the latest theft of Palestinian land is underway at Masafer Yatta.”

In the meantime, Israel has destroyed the possibility of a Palestinian state (with hundreds of illegal Israeli settlements on Palestinian land) while running a well-documented apartheid state against Palestinians living under its military occupation”

“Our government often talks about the importance of an international rules-based order. We are prepared to back this up with sanctions on Russia but have allowed Israel to breach international law and United Nations resolutions with impunity”

“Consistency, not hypocrisy, should guide our foreign policy – let’s get Israeli Ambassador Ran Yaakoby on a plane home and then talk about pressure on Russia.”

  1. Well said John. As long as NZ is in the 5 Eyes Anglosphere club there will be no change on recognising and supporting Palestine. The Israeli Apartheid State is one of the longest running atrocities in the modern world.

If ever there was a case of bald-faced hypocrisy it’s that of our “all-guns-blazing” protestations against Russia, for the war it’s been forced to wage against the NATO/US in Ukraine, up to and including our provision of military training without the matter being debated in our parliament, compared to that of complete abandonment of the Palestinians to the creeping genocide being waged on them by the Zionazis.

    • If you can excuse Russia’s invasion of a member state of the UN (it’s been an international crime since 1949 to me to acquire territory from another nation state) in support of a Duginite Putin fantasy Ukraine is not a real country – why do you have any problem with what Israel has done?

      The only nation it has annexed land from (Syria) first attacked it (and still does not recognise Israel). If Palestinians had opposed 5 Arab armies invading their territory they would have a nation state in 1948, if they had asked Egyptians and Jordan to leave at any time 1948-1967 … . If they had accepted land for peace (and negotiated an alternative to right of return) in 2000 … rather than intifada. If Abbas had not allowed a party opposed to the peace process to participate in the PA elections built by the Oslo Accords. If Fatah had not lost the election to Hamas. If Hamas had not enabled rocket attacks out of Gaza after disengagement. If the PA had not become a moribund and corrupt post democratic fascist regime oppressing its own people. The last best chance for its people now appears to be an Israeli passport (as per the Orange going to Dublin for an Irish one) or West Bank annexation.

        • Syria indicated its plan to invade the Jewish state as soon as it acted on the UN decision (May 1948) months in advance.

Moshe Dayan who became the former defense minister under the former terrorist of the Irgun and Ex Israeli PM Menachem Begin admitted in 1976 that they were the agitators in the demilitarized zone sending in tractors to bait the Syrian so they would shoot which was the pretext for Israel to attack the Syrian.               There could be no military action by the IDF before May 1948, when the state of Israel was established. Before this time Syria had threatened to invade the Jewish state as soon as it began.

                • The matter being discussed here is Syria. It is not in accord with the UN Charter not to recognise a member state of the UN. It is not in accord with the UN to threaten war against a member state of the UN.

                  Apparently rather than debate the issues you would rather launch a series of strawmen to legitimise personal attacks.

      • SPC UN resolution 242 makes it illegal to acquire land even if it was a defensive or attacked which ‘Apartheid Israel’ wasn’t as mention above, You’re another fucking lying hasbara troll ten years after the 1967 war, Egypt, Jordan and Syria interpreted Resolution 242 in unison. It meant that Israel had to give back all of the territory captured in the 6 day war.

        Even if the Egyptians were arming or blocking the straight’s of Tiran, Article 51 UN charter stipulates that ‘Apartheid Israel’ had no grounds to attack!!

        • No it was a Resolution in 1949 that made it illegal to acquire territory acquired in war. Res 242 just applied that to the territory occupied by the IDF in 1967.

          I think you mean 6 years later – 1973. Egypt signed a peace after getting the Sinai back (giving up any claim to Gaza). Jordan signed a peace in 1994 after the Oslo Accords (giving up any claim to Jordan).

          Why Egypt and Jordan did not allow a Palestinian state on the post 1949 territory held by Arabs is up to them to justify.

    Remember when Kosovo declared itself a sovereign state. NATO sent a message to Serbia that they were going to start bombing Belgrade asap if they did recognise this declaration. The US, UN, UK the French all knew this was all illegal and in breach of the standing UN Charter at the time.

    Their is so much hypocrisy from all party’s involved and sitting on the side lines that everyone needs to chill the fuck out and consider the inconsistencies, the hypocrisy from the Western protagonists states and the irrelevant NATO bench.

    This is 1993-2000 ‘Madeline’s War’ all over again. And what happen their in Yugoslavia? Thousands of innocent people were slaughtered and NATO were bombed by the US while the UK soldiers on the ground were listening to their captain sing them lullaby’s at night, Cpt J Blunt! His boss was having a biff with the US generals who were sitting in Washington looking at a map.
