Luxon’s u-turn on working with Bishop Tamaki a week longer than Labour’s u-turn on bank tax revolt

FINALLY!

National’s Christopher Luxon rules out joining with Brian Tamaki-led Freedoms NZ coalition

National will not be going into coalition with Brian Tamaki’s new umbrella party should it need a majority to rule in next year’s general election.

It made no sense at all for Luxon to not rule out Qanon and the feral antivaxers as soon as the question came up. His inability to answer, and that he was forced by a powerful attack by Grant Robertson yesterday is just another example of how flaky Luxon gets under the high ball.

It took them a week longer to u-turn than Labour did on their GST charge to Banks, it seems competence is based on how quickly you get spooked by the mob these days.

    • Brian’s not a happy bunny!!

“By calling all of the above “crazy” and writing us ALL off saying he will never work with us, he is writing off votes from the above, emboldening the vote towards Freedoms NZ and signing National’s political death warrant.”

Tamaki went further and warned Labour and National of Freedoms NZ’s political arrival.

“So get ready…here comes the Kingmaker, whether you like it or not Luxon and Robertson! Fortunately…you don’t get to decide…the people do!”

He said he isn’t standing to be in Parliament, instead doing “everything possible to get good people within Freedom New Zealand into Parliament”.

So I guess Aloha is off the Bish’s Christmas list then?

  1. how do I get a place on one of these focus groups that seem to decide policy?

an extra income will be handy during the coming economic titanic we’ve created for ourselves.

  2. Better late than never I guess. I love the way people were trying to rationalise that Luxon was respecting MMP, when I doubt very much that was his intent. He was trying to play the noncommittal politician game rather than taking a golden opportunity to say ‘no sorry we have some standards as a party’. To be fair to Luxon the public and media seem to give politicians way too much leeway to not answer questions. We almost accept it as “oh well (insert pronoun) is a politician, never mind”

  3. A Masterstroke of PR! Name recognition!

A Bishop, Christian leader known as Aloha Luxon from Te Puke!!

    • Give me a break Frank. He just said to Hoskings that he has been consistent on this issue previously then says Hosking’s has an exclusive with Luxon announcing National would not work with VFF! What the actual f*ck?

  4. Yeah, it’s about the best of us NZers — we don’t do cretanity. That can pass in Oz with Murdoch but we’ve forced those birds off their nests here. That those birds were there in the first place is another matter … worth addressing.

  5. Good article. What do we think about Martyn using a rugby analogy though?
“how flaky Luxon gets under the high ball”
    Where did that come from?
