Load measuring systems are not only very useful for weighing raw material but also effective to prevent overload. In order to detect reliable load and prevent ovoid, load measuring systems have significant applications. These systems are also used for load torque limitation and force and inclination measurement. There are different measuring systems to weigh during lifting such as dynamometers, crane scales, overload detectors, and load cells. However, in order to ensure safety and gather information, it is essential to be aware of how much any load weighs when lifting the load. For the measurement of force and tension, load measuring systems help to drag force measurement and ensure the tension of the power transmission cables and guy wires are correct.

Categories of Load Measuring Systems:

There are two main categories of load monitoring systems such as- Single point load monitoring and Multipoint load monitoring.

  1. i) Single Point Load Monitoring:

When a load monitoring system takes place on a single crane below the hook and measures the load that the crane lifts, the load monitoring system is called a single point load monitoring system.

  1. ii) Multi-Point Load Monitoring:

In order to weigh super heavy loads with multiple cranes, a multi-point load monitoring system is used where multiple load cells function in harmony for managing the lifts of the complex multi-crane. This monitoring system includes advanced software to display the measurements and real-time load map. Multi-point systems are also useful to monitor individual weighing stations.

Types of Load Measuring Systems:

There are different types of load measuring systems. In this article, we will discuss four main types of load measuring systems such as dynamometers, crane scales, load cells, and overload detectors.
i) Dynamometers:

Dynamometers are useful for tension measurement and monitoring as well as for general weighing. In order to become convenient for the top and bottom shackles and offer integration into suitable structures, a dynamometer should be designed with nighty offset between shackle holes. Dynamometers are useful for horizontal, vertical, and other orientations.

  1. ii) Crane Scales:

Crane Scales have significant applications for general weighing. There is a bottom hook and a 90-degree offset in the crane scales.

iii) Load Cells:

Load cells are quite similar to the dynamometers; however, these systems do not include a digital indicator. These systems provide the users with a voltage modulation, a current modulation, or both, and an analog signal. These systems can be combined with programmable logic controllers and other similar devices.

  1. v) Overload Detectors:

Overload detectors are basically electro-mechanical systems that are useful for the easy detection of under loads and overloads. However, overload detectors do not require complicated control systems. When there is an overload or an underload, the alarms get activated. The system also activates emergency stops and other logic-based control systems.

Industries:

These load measuring systems have significant usages in several industries and applications such as heavy industries, wind turbines, aerospace, foundries, and other high-temperature industries, shipyards, ports, offshore applications, electricity companies, militaries, oil, and gas extraction, etc. Therefore, load measuring systems are essential to fulfill several purposes in this modern world.
