Thomas Tuchel took to the media to claim that he hasn’t been a Chelsea manager for long to make a decision on Olivier Giroud’s future with the club, as he had only been in charge for a few weeks.

English manager Frank Lampard was sacked by the club at the end of January and former PSG manager was appointed as the new head coach and is currently helping Chelsea go seven games unbeaten since his arrival, with odds coming from https://lordofodds.co.nz/ helping the fans make some winnings as their team continue with action on the pitch.

In Tuchel’s early games, Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham struggled for start this season. Giroud’s contract with the club is set to expire at the end of the season.

Speaking about the 34-year-old Frenchman ahead of his 1-1 game against Southampton in the Premier League, he said: “No decisions made, because it’s too soon to make these decisions, too soon in the season, and I don’t have enough time to make these decisions because I just started three weeks ago.

“We need more time to get to know the group better and better and everybody deserves more time to show their value for the group. What I can say is that, until now, I am super happy that he is here.

“He is one of the top strikers in the box, he’s physically strong, he has an incredible first touch when he takes balls directly. He is very, very strong on that. He is very strong on headers.

“He had an amazing game against Newcastle. He is very, very strong, very, very positive in training, very impressive, and right now he plays a key role in the squad, where a lot of young offensive players play.

“He is a key figure, maybe not because he plays everywhere for 96 minutes, but the way he behaves and with his experience daily so far the last three weeks. He has a huge impact in a most positive way that we can wish, and this is what I can say.

“So I am very happy that he is here, and from there, we will arrive at decisions, but it is too soon.”

Having been a source of constant worry earlier in the season, Giroud chose to remain with the Stamford Bridge outfit after fighting for his spot in the starting eleven of the team.

The source of concern brought about links from several European clubs like Italian giants Juventus, who reportedly made the French striker a top target during the January winter transfer window. Although a move failed to materialize for the Italian team, they might just reignite their interest for the striker in the summer when his contract with the Blues expires.

Ever since joining Chelsea from Arsenal during the winter transfer window in 2018, Olivier Giroud has been able to register 38 goals and 14 assists in 109 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea, he was pivotal in helping the team lift 2018 FA Cup title and 2018/19 UEFA Europa League title.

The 34-year-old most notable performance in his career was in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where he played a key figure in Didier Deschamps’ team that went on the world title held in Russia.

While Giroud was an unused sub in Chelsea 1-1 draw against Southampton on Saturday, it is certain that the France international contract with the Blues will expire at the end of the season if not renewed.
