Yeah right m8.

ON THE INTERNATIONAL SCENE.

Russia rescues the proletariat from excessive fuel prices during a period most people will suffer economic hardship from the effects coronavirus has on the world economy.

Cooperation between Russia and the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has got to an abrupt stop after Moscow refused to back new deeper cuts on oil output. The move has sent oil prices into a downward spiral.

The OPEC and non-OPEC countries held the consultations on oil cuts consultations in Vienna on Friday, yet failed to agree on them.

The talks followed the OPEC decision to cut the output by an extra 1.5 million barrels per day (bpd) in the second quarter of this year — but only if Russia joins in. The new cuts were expected to come on top of the already existing cuts of 2.1 million bpd, becoming the largest ones since the 2008 financial crisis.

ON THE HOME FRONT.

There has been a 15-cent decline in the cost of importing refined petrol to New Zealand so far this year, which would come as news to some people filling up their vehicles.

The price of oil is falling sharply overseas, but that’s not reflected at the pump for many New Zealand motorists

  2. Without knowing what effect cuts would have had on the Russian economy it’s difficult to comment on this. However, I think we have to grant Russia the right to look after her economy.

    • If the US would drop its stupid illegal trade sanctions against Russia and its friends who wish to trade with Russia, then I am sure many would benefit including the US.

I completely agree. This country traded with the USSR many years ago.

Now we’re trapped in this ideological quagmire of the US’s own making, and our government seems to be too cowardly to disentangle us from it.

  3. Totally agree John W. Taking the time to read this link may clarify the situation.

Many thanks for that link. It’s good reading and much appreciated. I’ve passed it on to a family member who’s interested in these issues.
