GUEST BLOG: Willie Jackson – 540 000 Community Card Holders is a good start

Yesterday, 540 000 Community Card Holders will get cheaper Doctor visits.

I believe politics should be about making life easier for people, not more difficult. This Government is focused on achieving that and announcing Doctor’s visits will be $20-$30 cheaper for half a million of us, as well as extending free GP visits to under 14 year olds, is a step in that direction.

By investing in cheaper Dr visits up front, we save money before that illness becomes more serious.

While applauding this policy, we must also acknowledge that much more needs to be done in the area of Māori, Pacifica and disability health resourcing.

Beneficiaries and those working for minimum wage still have difficulties in accessing affordable health care and while this lower cost Dr visits for those on community services cards is a great step in the right direction, there is still much for us politicians to do.

  1. Another good step would be to empty out your fucking prisons.

Oh yes, and there are plenty of rich bastards to tax to pay for improvements for us peasants…

…but yes, well done you lot.

  2. Same as the US, have to keep the neocons happy, fuck the stupid public, they are a waste of money. Only Russia and China know how to keep neocons in line, they tow the line or get locked up and assets siezed

    • What on God’s green earth does that have to do with cheaper GP visits for Community Services Card holders?

  3. This is a big deal for cash strapped people and families with kids. So also was the increased accommodation benefit for those on low incomes. You don’t hear much about the success of these policies, tho do you. I wonder why that is.
