I’m sorry, this missed me last week – Fonterra is blaming vigilante vegans for exposing the disgusting condition of intensive farming???

Federated Farmers hits back at ‘vegan fundamentalists’ SAFE
Federated Farmers is calling the animal advocacy group SAFE a group of “vegan fundamentalists” after the publication of drone footage of feedlots in South Canterbury.

…the intentions of the activists who exposed this disgusting practise are not the issue here, it’s what has been revealed by this drone footage – trying to demonise Vegans is the kind of pettiness you would expect from Donald Trump, not a Farmer organisation.

It is increasingly becoming apparent that the dairy industry is a sunset industry, with synthetic meat and milk around the corner, the welfare, health and environmental costs of cows are something we simply can no longer justify.

The sooner we start reinvesting into other sustainable industry, the better.

Dairy is dead.

  1. moooo; — yes dairy is a large strain on or resources and where I live in the hills 1600 ft above Gisborne’s most northern reach it is very damp always with lots of rain to replenish the water supply.

But now we see that down in the lower plains the dairy farmers are relying on artesian water and are always nearing drought so we really need to select the right areas for dairy that don’t take water from the regions where water is not plentiful.

  2. Synthetic food is genetically engineered – although semantic arguments are used to say it’s “not GE”.

It’s astonishing that no one is talking about this – although having said that, it took me 15 minutes to find the answers so there really is no excuse for our useless media.

This article from last year about the Impossible Burger
    http://www.synbiowatch.org/2017/08/bleeding-veggie-burger-has-no-basis-for-safety-according-to-fda/

    says this:

“…recently obtained documents from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reveal that Impossible Foods, maker of the Impossible Burger, the meatless burger that supposedly “bleeds,” was told by FDA officials that it hadn’t provided adequate proof of safety for a genetically engineered protein that gives the burger its meat-like taste and …

Real cows eating real grass is very definitely not dead/”.
