    Dear Kawerau Press;

    Regarding; Fenglin Group ; $180m plant for Kawerau

    A potential for a further supply of Timber/logs for this particle plant could be sent by rail from the Wairoa/Gisborne region forests soon.
    This would show to be more environmentally & socially responsible for our regions rather than the current raw logs being sent unprocessed to China as is happening now.

    The Fenglin Group say they are a environmental & social company so will they assist in building a rail line to Kawarau from either Wairoa or Gisborne in the absence that the current NZ Government are not interested in providing?

    The Fenglin Group need to show us if they are prepared to use rail to secure raw logs using rail to ship the logs from surrounding forests in Gisborne/HB ready for harvest soon.
    We are surprised the delegation made already to China has not secured this potential for using Environmentally friendly rail to ship their logs to the planned plant from further afield from the Wairoa/Gisborne regions also.

    We hope the Fenglin Group will commit to assisting in securing the establishment of a rail corridor to the Kawerau plant from other surrounding regions, as they are globally with “The One Belt, One Road” transport policy which is indeed a massive worldwide project with many roads, railways, ports and maritime routes making up new and revived trade corridors.
    One Silk road project currently being built throughout the world now.
    Lets do this here Fenglin Group

    We have been promoting a rail link from Gisborne to Tanatua for years as should have been compoleted back inn the 1960’s but the government dropped the ball on this.

    May we say that while in long consultation with Jim Quinn the last CEO of Kiwirail who supported a rail link to Bay of Plenty stated on Radio NZ in 2013 that if that service was there then he would never have mothballed the Gisborne rail service which now awits to be reopened if we get a rail link to Tauranga finally built.
