  1. There is one tax issue that I would like fixed, and to my knowledge not one political party has made it a commitment.
I want the tax on interest on kid’s bank accounts scrapped, or at the very least a tax free threshold reinstated.
This odious attack on savings schemes was introduced by neo-liberal Roger Douglas and even the previous Labour government never made any move to change it.
It is hypocritical for political parties to promote savings scheme when interest you get on savings is taxed.
Yes, I know that one of the reasons it was introduced was to stop the rich from hiding their money from the tax man by leaving it in their kids’ bank accounts for a few years and grabbing the lot back later.
But when this happened in the 80s, interest rates were very high and computer technology was comparatively primitive so the potential gains would be smaller and surely there would be some mechanisms to prevent that today.
I would like one more symbol of Rogernomics to be well and truly cast into the fire.

    • And look at the comments!
I’ve been trying to work out when it was that NuZull became such a punitive uncompassionate sussoighty.
These dirty filthy bennies should be lined up against a wall and shot! Fuckn bludgers! Put ’em in the stocks eh?

I guess it’s been an incremental phenomenon but I’m bloody sure the past 8 years have been the worst I ever witnessed.

I don’t suppose you heard that vile specimen Michelle Pearl-clutcha Boag on Mora’s ZB hour ‘the Panel’ did you?

      • The hysterical troll reaction is why I have decided to vote Green in the next election, for the first time.
If these self-righteous pricks represent the real NZ, then I want to vote for someone as different as possible.
