What is it about John Key and drugs?

Every time Key is challenged on poverty or inequality, his default position seems to be to blame it on drugs.

The druggie label of course is a dog whistle. In each of these cases, Key is misdirecting people away from seeing the truth that his policies are counter productive and derived from a spiteful idealogical  mindset by telling middle NZ that these are druggies we are talking about who are failing.

According to Key’s mindset,  their collateral damage is to be expected really.

No point throwing good money after bad on these wastes of skin eh?

It’s very deliberate, it’s manipulative and it’s utterly wrong.

If we look at the numbers, of the 8000 beneficiaries drug tested, there were a mere 134 failures. How is that an epidemic?

When Key says ‘drugs’ are to blame, he’s relying on the neoliberal mythology of ‘you-choose-to-be- poor’ to fill in the gaps of what he’s really saying.

  1. Its it becoming a bit tedious … however, he’s only a Bwanka and filling in whilst his fellow party members decide who’s taking over after they roll him between now & the 6 months following the election. He can have all the drugs sex & benefits he wants after that.

  2. All the time ignoring the fact drug abuse is a health issue. And ever minute we treat it as a criminal issue, more families suffer.

Ask your self would your hapu be better off treating the drug dependency, or sending another member to jail?

  3. Its Key and his colleagues M.O summed up perfectly Martyn.
There always has to be a diversionary tactic involved its the only way they can function as a government is to play to New Zealanders bigotry and ignorance.
With one statement Key can cause massive damage like this to a community that can do without the stigma of drugs.
Key knows exactly what he is doing here and how it will be reported by his friends in the media who use the same tactics of diversion by not focusing on the issue and ignoring what is really the truth behind the story.
They dont choose to be poor but Key does choose to lie and demean.
The dirty politics scandal showed us how Key really operates and his tactics in dealing with any issue thats likely to negatively impact his government.
In my opinion he cant speak with authority on any subject concerning our country and have any credibility I have stopped listening.

  4. Key actually perhaps is in some way involved with holding off any action to stamp out drugs in NZ as he wants us all stupefied as he sells everything at the instructions of his paymasters Goldman Sachs and Bilderberg.

Everything key says is a lie, because he does the opposite often, and now it is becoming more than an embarrassment, it is becoming dangerous for us all to keep what we have now!!!!!

  5. What I find so incredible about the PM insulting the poorly paid and unemployed over their supposed drug use is – has he ever done the sums on the cost of buying drugs on a regular basis or smoking cigarettes as well. Its no wonder there are so many dairies being done over and staff assaulted – all for the craving for a ciggie.

Where does he get this information from – that these incredibly down trodden and poverty ridden people manage to factor in to their miserable benefit the dosh to feed their supposed habit?? I know people who have given up on toking weed and certainly have gone on the Quitline scheme and given up cigarettes because they cannot feed themselves or pay rent with what they get from WINZ.

He is a mean spirited nasty man who would kick a man when he is down – what has happened in his life to hate people so much who are less off than he is.

  6. John Key must so love being so absolutely perfect in evergy that even God cannot shine a torch upon such perfection. John Key must so lovebeing able to have an answer for everthing that even when caught in a corner of his own making he can always blame others for something.
Right now John Key demeans himself to the low level that he can only take himself to by blaming NZers for whatever he cannot take responsiblity for. He blames others and yet does not look upon the very MPd within HIS very political party. A perfect example of a lazy NZer must surely be say Paul Foster-Bell. This very lazy NZer gets into NZ politics with hardly any effort on his part. And so we see a perfect examploe of what John Key deems meritable as being a ‘hard-working NZer. Come on Key & co. I and many other other NZers, work a damn sight harder than you will ever do. Don’t insult us by assuming you know us.

    • 100% Just me.

Key is a failed species trained in a hostile climate of “The big Short” movie type environment.

Where hedge fund traders rely just on “lies and deception” to survive in that cut throat job.

Watch the movie “The big short” and welcome to the enlightenment of what made Jonkey the shit that he is.

  7. When Key was in the trading game it was said that the use of cocaine was on a grand scale and working about 2 hrs a day

  8. The MSM has made it easy for Key to mislead the public, they are good at whipping stuff up, based on totally insignificant numbers, to make them appear “large” or significant:

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/70405113/beneficiaries-increasingly-failing-drug-tests-numbers-show

“The very low numbers of beneficiaries not passing a test since the law changed was taken by critics as proof that drug use was not widespread among those on government allowances. But the Government saw it as evidence the policy was acting as a deterrent.

However, new figures obtained under the Official Information Act show a slight increase in the number of failures and refusals.”

“The social development minister at the time, Paula Bennett, lauded the policy as a success when, in the first 12 weeks, only 22 tests were positive – or about 1.8 each week.

But according to Official Information Act responses, a year after the scheme began, there was an average of 2.3 failures a week. In 2014, there were 134 failures, or about 2.6 each week.

Only one person failed both an initial and follow-up test.”

So out of close to 30,000 drug test referrals, what do the numbers really say? Key is a BS artist and liar, same as some employers, drug test failures are minimal, truly minimal, where is the MSM reporting facts instead of catchy headlines?

  9. Well we have to ask our selfs is john key a murder getten the corrupt new zealand police to do his dirty work and airways corporation.

  10. Yes MSM in US is waking up finally as famed economist said on CNBC today that trickledown economics has been proved wrong as it did not work!!!!!!

Key and his accomplices promised trickledown economic would work and be of great benefit to us all remember Nactional sold us this as the panacea for our future????

it was just a con from john Key and his crooks.

Wealth does not trickle down from the rich to the poor. Period

That’s not Senator Elizabeth Warren talking. That’s the latest conclusion of new research from the International Monetary Fund.

In fact, researchers found that when the top earners in society make more money, it actually slows down economic growth. On the other hand, when poorer people earn more, society as a whole benefits.

The researchers calculated that when the richest 20% of society increase their income by one percentage point, the annual rate of growth shrinks by nearly 0.1% within five years.

This shows that “the benefits do not trickle down,” the researchers wrote in their report, which analyzed over 150 countries.

  11. Key forgets to mention that drugs and the legalization of are part of the Bilderberg Goals. http://educate-yourself.org/cn/johncolemangoalsofIlluminati.shtml
Prescription medicine also hooks user into drug abuse:
    https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/jun/25/adhd-dangerous-street-meth-americans-are-getting-hooked
Another “hook” of the Bilderberg is making porn “acceptable”.
I have enormous compassion for Key’s daughter given who her father is, she has publicly demonstrated her preference for soft porn art.
Quiet revolution anyone followed by a clean up and clear out of our parliamentary parasites?

  12. I bet there is just as much coke snorted in the boardrooms and executive offices of Auckland then there is P or cannabis used by beneficiaries.
But we never hear about that do we?

  13. PM Key has a drug issue. Let’s not forget that. His alcohol intake is pretty high. Drunk in charge of a country…
After that recent state lunch his manner at NZQT was extraordinary. Related to his lunch drug intake? I wish we knew.
