  1. If you don’t have sky, it is hard to watch decent coverage, so sadly for the advertisers, I have given up on the games.
Great idea to cut out most of the audience.

    • Yep. until John key screwed up NZ TV and stripped it of it’s analogue signals and independent channels (like all dictators do), and privatized it in favour of the corporate SkyTV, and made free NZ TV into a not so free view in what is effectively now a dumbed down propaganda mouthpiece for the National party, the games used to be televised live for free. I would say a lot of kiwis no longer bother to watch the games and other sporting events like they used to.

    • It is such a shame that there is no free, state broadcast coverage. This old bird remembers being riveted by BBC coverage when a school girl. Pity our children can’t get to see the likes of Olga Korbut, who entranced a generation, and other world class athletes excelling. And I don’t just mean in sports New Zealanders perform in, but the best and widest variety. Shame the opportunity is lost. For all the brouhaha about doping and corruption, the Olympics is still a great spectacle.
