      • CPM = counts per minute, a measure of the level of ionising radiation

        It means the frying is happening now although at present at a rate that may not be noticeable enough to cause alarm.

        The Fukushima nuclear plant is spewing radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean. That has consequences.

        What’s fascinating about it in a macabre kind of way is that they simply don’t know how to fix it. It might take ten years to figure out a feasible solution and that solution might take years to implement.

        Read this, you have to laugh and be appalled all at the same time.

        Meanwhile, there is another angle to the nuclear issue. On the opposite side of the anti-nuke crowd it is instructive to note that a sizeable pro-nuke coterie claim nuclear power is safe and also claim that few, if any, serious human health problems have arisen, or will arise, from radiation exposure. In fact, some nuke addicts even claim a “little radiation exposure” is good.

        Sound familiar? Like a bit of global warming is good for us.

  2. After seeing the radiation levels from Robert Atack this complaint might sound like a petty little problem.

    It takes 7 – 12 days to connect an existing copper line to an internet feed for an urban property in Auckland.

    It seems like a very long time to process such a small operation.

    Is this just another case of corporations with near monopolies understaffing in order to pass better profits to the shareholders?

    • The Saudis can be a little miss leading, by restricting supply, which raises the price of oil. That’s what’s happening at the moment.

      If the Saudis where in real trouble they would be filling up all the super tankers. Where not there yet.
