So now Key has u-turned on Red Peak, why not add the actual flag and get this vanity project over and done with?

If only child poverty could somehow be made into a design issue, the Twitterati could have a Government u-turn before the weekend. Watching NZ fight over a flag design when that flag is being sold to corporate interests via TPPA is more bled bleak than Red Peak for me.

If we can add a 5th design, why can’t we just add a 6th design being the actual flag of NZ and just get this bloody vanity project out of the way so we can focus on the issues that actually matter like hungry children, renters rights, flogging off our economic and political sovereignty via the TPPA, housing affordability, climate change, beneficiaries living below the poverty line and lifting the minimum wage to a living wage.

The reason that won’t happen, the reason why Key won’t add the actual flag even though he just u-turned on Red Peak – because being a political distraction is exactly what this entire flag blinded exercise is all about.

  1. Key made sure that the existing flag was not added to the first referendum because this is not about the choice of New Zealanders to select the flag they want: it is about John Key’s personal mission to change the flag and expect that New Zealanders will all fall in with his plans to do it. Key really does have a big load of contempt for the average New Zealander doesn’t he?
Watch Key do the same thing any time he is put under pressure – revert to the default setting and blame Labour.
Little is dead right on this one – add the original flag to the first choice and make it a meaningful referendum or we won’t support you. It is Key playing the petty politics game, no one else.

  2. That’s right , Martyn – a total political distraction .

How about we approach John Ansell – where John Key got this whole ridiculous ‘fern’ flag idea from in the first place ( the black and silver – which has been around from about 2010 ) and tell him to stick a few hungry looking kids on top of the red peak ???

How about it , Ansell ?

Still plying your trade for the National party even though Don Brash is long gone , eh?

One thing’s for sure we all notice though , buddy ….Brash might be gone but his agenda sure isn’t. And your still plying your trade for the same old crowd , eh mate.

Back then it was ‘ Gone before lunchtime ‘

    IWI / KIWI.

Now its TTPA for the USA ,

And Keys Flag Brag in Baghdad , isn’t it…
    ………………………………..

Reject this ridiculous ‘PM’s folly and retain the current flag.

  3. …and the Greens are supporting jonkey…they dug him out of the hole Andrew Little had got him into …totally underwhelming

…and James Shaw would vote for Red Peak over New Zealand’s existing flag …. (the majority of New Zealanders support the existing flag!..too bad about that …James knows what is best for us)

RED PEAK…jonkey’s REAL choice …and probably has copyright issues because it belongs to a British security firm

RED PEAK the logo for Active Security Group

( Well done Greens and James Shaw…!)

  4. James Shaw is either incredibly naive, or he’s positioning himself to become part of Key’s coalition next term.

The Red Peak thing was people trolling Key. I’ve not met anyone who actually wants the Red Peak. It seems as though James Shaw is as bad as Russel Norman was at strategising.

Nobody gives a shit about a piece of cloth that represents a selfish country. Please wake me up when this is all over…I have a box of matches and some petrol ready.

  5. The process is operating with two polls so that promotional spin can kick in behind the most popular choice of the first poll – before the second poll takes place. John Key can then bask in reflected glory.

    It’s classic case of manipulation.

And those running the show won’t be risking the failure of this strategy by risking no change at all.

  6. James Shaw … jonkey’s new Green Party pet panda…playing a cunning move to upstage and undermine Labour ….and playing the ball for jonkey’s vanity project side to change the NZ flag !

(well done James..you really are a rugby player with potential)

  7. The old used car salesman trick, do you want the red peak one, the black one or the other one (when you never even said you wanted to buy any in the first place). Snakeoil Key written all over it. TTPA flag it Away ,KOF

  8. Why won’t Key add the current flag to the 5 now already there?
It’s a simple question really. But one that the current media won’t venture to grill him about.
Campbell would have, but National constructively dismissed him.
The tame, National-friendly media would rather listen to Key talk about his golf-round with Lydia, or his chats with Richie, or his strolls through the cricket changing room with Brendan.
    Ask questions – sorted.
