   … one correction to this article Sir Tipene O’Reagan is described as a “Senior Maori Chief”…this is not true ….he was a very good negotiator for Nga Tahu and a businessman…but a NOT a Nga Tahu Chief or related to one…( see historian Claudia Orange on Nga Tahu Chiefs who signed the Treaty of Waitangi)….O’Reagan was also involved in promoting Hanover Finance which cost ordinary New Zealanders millions of dollars

   If any university academic should be on the flag panel it would be Dr. Claudia Orange who understands New Zealand’s history , particularly New Zealand’s Maori and Pakeha history as regards the Treaty of Waitangi , New Zealand’s founding legal rights and cultural treaty document….not these shameless pretenders appointed by jonkey nactional…to undermine New Zealand indigenous sovereignty and Maori and Pakeha rights to overseas corporate interests

   • CHOOKY, thanks for the info, particularly that of the NatzKEY right wing flag changing brigade!

     NOTE – one of those to decide on a new flag, whether we want it changed or not, is none other than Julie Christie, she of MediaWorks, who was blatantly instrumental in sacking John Campbell, only to replace his programme, with her very own production company’s version of “Come Dine with Me” on TV3!

     Promotion favours, back scratching, anyone?

2. Gurpreet Singh …. denied access to The Cosmopolitan Club.
   hmmmm.
   Not only is this 2015 ffs, not only is this the second time (the first in 2010), but they purport to be the ‘cosmopolitan’ club.
   False advertising perhaps?
   Who the hell frequents the joint I have to ask!

3. $260K for a roof deck at MBIE, Mr “Fix it” ministry??? What else is going to creep out of the rotten woodwork?

   All well and good for something such as this to be reported. But how about some investigative journalism for a change, putting issues such as this under some hard scrutiny, demanding accountability?

   Disgraceful! Even more offensive considering impoverished Kiwis are dying as the result of living in cold, damp STATE houses, through lack of adequate heating!

4. And on another note…..
   I sincerely hope that when we get an alternative government, that bugger’s muddle of a Ministry known as MoBIE, the Steven Joyce vanity project, will be ceremonially dismantled.
   I mean it includes ‘immigration’ ffs. You can tell from its inclusion exactly where Steven Joyce sees people from overseas’ contribution to NZ from that. (I.e. they have to be functioning economic units whether or not there are social or cultural benefits).
   This Ministry has been a failed experiment on so many levels – not the least of which is inappropriate spending by some of its ‘masters of the Universe’ corporate senior management.
   I think the ‘bugger’s muddle’ description above is actually quite kind. It is an abomination when you actually look at it in any depth. It is not fit for its own purpose let alone the various disparate functions it pretends to administer.
   Oh …. and nor is its problems the fault of the majority of public servants forced together under its helm. As is often the case, they work in spite of their so-called ‘leadership’ rather than because of them – often/always taking the blame for the failures whilst witnessing the grandiose ‘masters of the Universe’ taking the credit for any successes (which seem to be very few)

5. i Larfed, then i Larfed a whole lot more, watching the Alfred E Nuemann of television news reporting Patrick Gower treat the Conservatives coup against ‘Leader’ Colin Craig as anything but a joke is priceless,

   i know i should be boycotting TV3 and have done except for the news,(trivial pursuit hour), TV1 being so stunningly morbid that i cannot for the life of me watch it,

   Craig is obviously the complete parody of ‘the right wing loony’ and carries out the role with aplomb, but, being the Conservatives bankroll means that any move to remove him is one of gouging the Conservatives nasal protuberance off with a broken bottle to spite its own face,

   What a farce…
