So in February, the ACT Party had this to say about the corrupt SkyCity Convention Centre deal…

Worried about the Wrong Subsidy
The Skycity situation is a mess. Critics have focused on the $130 million that Steven Joyce promises taxpayers won’t have to pay. They should be worried about the $402 million worth of gambling concessions that are being taken for granted. The real problem is this: If Skycity can make an extra $402 million without harming problem gamblers, why hasn’t National lifted gambling regulations nationwide? So many charities and sports clubs could use the money. On the other hand, if making an extra $402 million from gamblers will increase gambling harm, then we are asking some of the most vulnerable people in New Zealand to fund a convention centre. Which one is it?

Where’s the Cost Benefit Analysis?
ACT’s Regulatory Responsibility Bill would have gotten this question answered. It requires answers to questions such as who wins and who loses in a regulatory change be published before the legislation was voted on. Transparency around effects of relaxing gambling restrictions would be a perfect example of ACT’s bill in action. Now we’ll never know. ACT remains heavily committed to regulatory reform.

Taxpayer Funding Would be More Honest
If the government really could profit by investing in a convention centre, it would be better funded out of general revenues. Of course, it is not the role of government to make such commercial investments. The Russians first tried this approach 98 years ago and they are still recovering.

…but now, barely a month later and with National’s majority under threat from a Winston Peters win in Northland, ACT are now suddenly on board with helping the corrupt SkyCity Convention Centre scam…

Act leader David Seymour told to keep calm over SkyCity convention centre

Last night Mr Seymour indicated to the Herald that he was not opposed to the repeal, which is in a private members bill in the name of NZ First deputy Tracey Martin.

But, after a subsequent phone call from Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce, he said it would be a big move to overrule the “sanctity of contract” between the Government and the casino.

…now we shouldn’t be surprised that MPs are lying cretins who u-turn on issues with the spinelessness of maggots, but ACT are supposedly this pure free market believer who refuse taxpayer funding for the private sector. For ACT to go from criticising this deal to voting for it in the space of a month is just more proof that ACT are simply an extension of where National really want to go policy wise.

Any suggestion ACT are politically principled is a fiction told to David Seymour when Key tucks him into bed at night.

  1. Act, the biggest waste of tax payer money in a political party!

Remember the Simpsons cartoon where Homer puts a automated chicken in charge of the nuclear power plant safety – reminds me of David Seymour.

Words can’t describe the hypocrisy of Act that got less than a percent of votes (even InternetMana got double the party votes of Act) and now gets to roll around in taxpayer money with zero principals as a vegetable clone of the Nats.

    I’m disgusted.

Hope those in Northland notice. We have vegetable clones like Seymour propping up Sky Sore and dodgy corporate welfare, sick criminal MP’s who are under name suppression, idiots of the economy with 6 deficits in a row, obviously the list is endless, I have to stop now, before I vomit.

    • I always wondered why Jamie White, leader of ACT at the last election, didn’t himself stand for Epsom. After all, wouldn’t it have made sense for the leader to do it rather than let a junior subordinate stand in a seat which he was likely to win? The reason is now becoming clear – Jamie White knew that if he won he would be expected to take orders from JK and jump when commanded. The prospect of daily humiliation was apparently too much, even for him so he generously allowed his even less gifted lieutenant David Seymour to make a daily dick of himself instead. Problem was he was banking on the party vote to get himself in as well and that didn’t happen (huge sigh of relief). As they say – the best plans of mice and men……

    • “vegetable clones”

In Latin – Raoulia mammillaris – vegetable sheep. Found in high places. Slow to grow…

  2. See , now there’s an abuse trigger for me .

Seeing the faces of those three , particularly those of roger douglas and don brash, reminded me of the days from about 1985 to , well today actually . The survivors of abuse will concur , abuse never goes away . One just learns to manage the spectre of it when it comes a calling .
roger douglas and his manipulative ways sent our society into a tail spin from which , by looks , it’ll not recover .

And remember ! It wasn’t because of a tactical error of his, motivated by good intentions, that’s fucked us up so decisively . He deliberately hobbled our country , stole away with our resources and to this day , makes the vulnerable , the sick, the weak and the poor feel responsible for his monstrous swindlings .
In any other country . He’d have been hunted down and imprisoned . Or worse .

During those heady, horrible days of 22 % interest rates , bloated farm-land ‘values’ and plunging , at -the-farm-gate returns , douglas aided and abetted in the ruination of many family farms and their families . The Banks swooped down on the vulnerable and stole away with billions of dollars worth of NZ farming properties , farms built up over generations and were farms that built our country .
roger douglas . Pig farmer ( If one can call keeping poor pigs in small cages in the dark in stinking , sweltering tin sheds, farming ) . Financier , swindler , liar , thief and crook sold NZ out to his buddies in Big Business . The BNZ , Fay / Richwhite Group , brierly ‘ investments’ , alan gibbs , etc etc .
The target for NZ’s redemption should be roger douglas . He should be made to , and be the subject of , a royal commission of inquiry . The reasons for that not yet having happened concerns this writer greatly because from that, I deduce that he still has powerful mates in low places and until they’re flushed out NZ will continue to flounder in this squalor of their making.

    • Okay, slight tangent here. Your comment reminds me of one of my favourite songs. It’s abrasive and ridiculous, but somewhat relevant. It’s about a banker whose job it is to “foreclose on delinquent loans.” He rolls in and takes farms off people. The part I like best is the fact that that the main character shares my name, and has the best chorus ever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAcNdW9eLic

    • Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr……..Iv’e felt just this way for 3 bloody decades…grrr….they’d be damn lucky they weren’t put before a bloody people’s court if it was up to me….

And the first up would be that squint eyed evil bastard Douglas.

They , all of them – would be contained in those fetid , squalid ,
dank , dark pig pens you spoke off until their turn for trial was called….

That’s how we deal with treasonous buggers like them.

      Three bloody decades !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Three bloody decades of having to put up with this maggotous filth.

    • COUNTRYBOY;

What makes Douglas even more obnoxious is the fact that he would
have just been given the game plan of Reaganomics and part of that
plan is the 22% interest rates.

This is one of the ways the ‘Powers that Be’ rape and pillage every
      country they go into.

People like him and Banks usually die alone.
WILD KATIPO had it about right.
      Cheers.

  3. “Hope those in Northland notice”….I am waiting for those that vote “Teamkey” to wake up and think beyond their wallet.Seymour is a dream “coalition partner” for Key’s gang, who are an insult to democracy, and our forefathers who fought for it.
It makes me sick that you are going to Gallipoli Mr.Key.

    • The only time TeamKey will ever think beyond their wallet is if the wallet is in their front pocket and they are looking downwards towards their dicks, or upwards towards their bellies.

  4. As a Christian I am outraged that you would compare the lord God and his only son Jesus Christ to those three cretins pictured. No seriously, you could have added a fourth here – the angel Gabriel with a picture of John Key. After all like Gabriel – doesn’t JK specialize in spreading good tidings to the masses? The essential difference between the two is that Gabriel told the truth (as best he knew it.)

    • I think it safe to conclude we can be thankful that you were not raised as a Muslim.
History and current global events teaches us that “outrage” based on religious grounds has, more often than not, particularly nasty consequences.

    • Mike the Leftie,

How about adding the Judas Priest FJK as his early vile version did in sticking it to Jesus, FJK is now doing the same to all of us as he loves to demonstrate to his corporate masters he has a big roll as Judas priest had.

    • Oh, okay then – Revelations and the four horsemen of the apocalypse.

We’ve got ‘famine’ – hungry families.

We’ve got death – people dying early from preventable diseases and other inflicted unnatural causes. (Shall not mention. No need to hurt.)

We’ve got the drum-bangers promoting war.

And – spying in the Pacific – will that stand as a micro-conquest?

Judaism, Christianity, and Islamism. Grief to the world. So few live up to the stated principles of their religions. So many are easily outraged and fail to ‘turn the other cheek’.

  5. @countryboy “He should be made to , and be the subject of , a royal commission of inquiry .”
Nuremberg might be a better model

    • “Sir” Roger Douglas – evidence we award knighthoods to traitors in this country. ACT are the ultimate political joke – they say “elect us into Government, ‘cos we don’t believe in Government”. i.e. happy to take the paycheck, and let corporates have their way. And people in Epsom think this makes sense??!

  6. Speaks volumes, doesn’t it, about how ACT is more about providing a job* for its leader than it is about any sort of principles. Shameful.

    * and by job, I mean he gets paid – heaven only knows what he actually does as Head-of-the-cheerleading-squad-for-charter-schools

    • He doesn’t ‘do’ anything. He’s a paid yes-man for National.

Here’s a YouTube tribute to David ‘Rimmer’ Seymour — Act’s tax-payer funded glove puppet for the interests of the 1%.

      https://youtu.be/9-CG6gCrPYM

This is further proof that these ideological factions that right-wing political parties like to divide themselves into are a complete facade. They all want the same thing, just in slightly different ways. Wheelbarrow-loads of cash for corporates, the wealthy and anyone else in their special little club, and fuck the poor, the environment and those with the audacity to question their divine right to lord themselves over us grubby serfs.

God only knows how they sleep at night. (Though I suspect on pillows stuffed full of 100 dollar bills.)

  7. The present ACT member warming a seat in Parliament is a sniveling appendage of Key’s backside and nothing else!

The sole purpose of ACT is to support and prop up this Natsy regime of bribery, corruption, chicanery, dirty politics etc etc! Nothing smart or intelligent in that!

    • Mary A;

And to receive extreme policy from National. Like charter schools, to
      keep them looking ‘clean’.
Then they can say ‘well,we had to give them something to get their
      support’.
I doubt there is any negotiation taking place.

Part of the theatre and illusion of our form of ‘Democracy’

      Cheers.

  8. Lots of small one man parties are springing up , can it be because they get money to start a party.therule should be ,if a certain number of votes arnt achieved they pay back the money

The Act party wouldn’t be a convenient vote by a yes man ,it was a joke for Act to visit Northland offering to help the government, even John Key gave a smirk of derision at the offer, and Winston a big laugh.

Its to be hoped someone has the guts to out the suppression order cheats, its obviously a political decision to help Key,he awards himself so many favours to game the result

  9. “The unimaginable hypocrisy of ACT”?

Absolutely not. Surely it isn’t unimaginable, it is what is expected. Jamie Whyte and David Seymour try to come across all intellectual like and philosophise like they’re got some pool of intellect and wisdom, well like philosophers I suppose. They talk crap however and their principles come and go or are adjusted on the slightest whim. They have the intellectual rigour of a basin of sick. Their primary principle is that most basic of political ones, everything is saleable or disposable for the purpose of getting power and influence and keeping it.
