Would you not think, that after reading Dirty Politics, that our mainstream media wouldn’t allow themselves to get tricked and played again by the VERY SAME discredited pundits?

The best new feature on Radio NZ is their ‘Blog Watch’ and their timetable of how the very same discredited pundits played the media in the exact same tactics laid out in Dirty Politics is just another reason to view the mainstream media with contempt.

So it starts of course with claims by Slater…

…then Hooton tries to smear Internet MANA…

…then Farrar jumps in and then Jordan Williams from Taxpayer’s Union puts out a press statement insinuating the use of taxpayer funds for the song…

By 6pm it’s leading the news headlines and no one is asking hard questions of the Prime Minister for trawling brothels, handing Secret Intelligence Service information to Slater, hacking computers, rigging candidate selections and blackmailing MPs into resigning.

Problem is, the song was never taxpayer funded and it had nothing to do with Internet MANA! So a song released without taxpayer dollars and has nothing to do with any political party gets spun as nasty lefties using tax money to fund hate songs?

Isn’t this the exact kind of bullshit media manipulations we read in Dirty Politics? Why are the mainstream media STILL falling for this shit? From the EXACT SAME PEOPLE???

If Slater, Farrar, Hooton and Williams are all saying it, why are you are you believing it?

  1. And I will put in my two cents worth….there was no mention of raping the daughter….f*** the daughter, yes, but not rape. And yes, I agree with your article.

  2. Or, people who are opposed to John Key and the nats but are also uncomfortable with the personal threats of death and sexual conquest as a means of insult (how tacky and offensive is that?), could just say that a song like this contributes absolutely nothing towards a considered and well articulated opposition argument. I notice that yiou stopped short of commenting on the song itself. Yeah, Slater, Farrar, Williams, et al will try to spin it in a particular direction. But the song itself is offensive. Its like the anti-semitic stuff on billboards. Its not about free speech, or getting people to vote. Recording and releasing that song was spectacularly poor judgement. And they have probably shot themselves in the foot with regard to any further Creative NZ funding.

    • The day that MSM report on a .22 calibre bullet shot through a Left wing politicians window is the day that they may , just MAY , start to regain some credibility.

The day that Hooton , Farrar , etc comment on misuse of SIS documentation , Ip addresses leading to the PM’s office , and the abuse of the position of the Pm’s office and the legal/ethical merits of this , … is the day some credibility can be due them.

Until that day …..they have nothing at all whatsoever worth commenting on and anything they do say is discredited immediately by these and copious other omissions.

In short….these people have discredited themselves.

  3. In terms of his behaviour, Slater hasn’t even paused for breath and the media gets played again. Depressing.

Also depressing is the existence of this sort of song. Poor show, it does the progressive left far more harm than good.

    • how can it harm the progressive left?? except by you making the connection? Its a rap…
Did the progressive left pay for it,organise it,conspire? Do you have evidence connecting it?
If so yes. If not,you have just connected it…in that case the “poor show” belongs to you.
Your other point re msm and slater ..totally valid imho.Depressing sorta, but at least as the book becomes more widely read, the protaginists and sociopaths are still in evidence…so that’s a positive. Am trying to promote having the book released in schools…time the kids saw the truth about the controllers of those purported to have their educations and futures reins.

      • “how can it harm the progressive left?? ”
Because, as the old saying goes, “with friends like these who needs enemies?” It discredits legitimate, more reasoned opposition by association, whether you care to make a link or not. It provides ammo to the bottom feeders. The song is trash, and on TDB we should be distancing ourselves from it and calling it for what it is; a sexist, violent immature tirade. As a rap song, it fits the profile. As a protest work, it is shit.
@Wild Katipo; agree, the MSM are discredited. Problem is that most kiwis still believe that what they see on the six o’clock news is in some way a balanced and unmediated representation of the truth.
