#TeamKey vs #ForABetterNZ – what’s in a hashtag?

The difference between the hashtags makes the politics of this election very similar to the last election. National is all about Key. They have to hide their deeply unpopular policy of borrowed tax cuts for the rich and an economy reliant on cows and natural distorters behind the teflon laid back banality of John Key.

#TeamKey is our first cult of no personality.

Labour on the other hand is all about a better NZ. It’s policy, not a personality cult that they will fight  the election on. Last time Goff couldn’t make this succeed because he simply couldn’t convincingly make the case he was anything other than  an old neoliberal in a faded lefty wrapper. If Cunliffe can articulate the policy well the debate becomes one of ideas not how much you want to have a beer with John Key.

  1. ”#teamkey” is big mistake for National. Whoever came up with that corny self-satisfied crap needs to be fired.

  2. ‘Team Key’ is a typical ‘money traders’ play.
Put all your eggs in one basket, then to make it work
    – Cheat, (insider trade).
    – Lie ,(make up bullshit stories to extract money from gullible clients),and
-confuse, (manipulate currency markets, and then profit from the fluctuations).
The downside of this ‘Team Key,’ pyramid scheme philosophy, is when the bullshit is exposed for what it is.
(Coming soon to a theatre near you.)
He and National will then come crashing down like a pack of cards for a long, long, long, long time.
Key is now actually the weakest link…GOODBYE!

  3. Given that #teamkey is an oxymoron (i.e. ‘team’ followed by an individuals name ‘Key’), I am guessing that Steven Joyce came up with it, since the majority of his arguments are similarly retarded.

  4. Toby Mahire on Media 7 (yes that long ago ) was asked about the appeal of John Key. He said it was because he was like that nice bank manager you go to, that you trust and that he would be in trouble if that changes. Pegging their # & campagne on him just opens the door not just for mockery (as people are already usinging) but for the house of cards to fall down.

  5. #TeamKey vs #ForABetterNZ … hmm let me see. Oh yes, the former is indicative of a cult, while the latter indicates a political party intent on serving and working for the good of the nation. So in these circumstances, a hashtag says a lot.

It’s really no contest is it?

The National Party per se is disappearing into oblivion, as its entity is being rapidly over shadowed by a cult like identity, in the form of John Key, as evidenced by the hashtag #TeamKey!

Not sure how National supporters feel about this rather odd, albeit hardly surprising situation, given how Key has been incessantly promoted my msm during the past six years. This weird adulation and worship of Key by media, has put him on a pedestal, virtually raising him to the level of cult status!

The hashtag #TeamKey is quite bizarre and freakish, not to mention having an unhealthy and threatening ring to it!

  6. Perhaps we’re reading this hashtag all wrong. Could #TeamKey be referring to a U.S. style Tea Party of which dear leader is the master key?
    i.e. #Tea-mKey
