“Tens of thousands of protesters attend anti-nuclear events in Tokyo”

The crowds at these events estimated to be around 40,000 were matched and exceeded by earlier protests that preceded the shut down.

With all the nation’s 50 nuclear reactors offline, an estimated 40,000 people attended a series of demonstrations in central Tokyo on Oct. 13 organized by three anti-nuclear civic groups to express their opposition to the government’s push for restarts.

  2. Interesting interview with local entrepreneur Selwyn Pellet on Nights on National Radio last night (Wednesday 16 Octo) – purportedly about “How curiosity helps to build better business” but in fact more interesting in the way Selwyn talks through experience about how well New Zealand IT businesses do under the present environment. Particularly interesting is how he says the IT industry has in the short term the ability to actually provide greater net wealth for New Zealand than the dairying industry, but our reliance on the commodity market (especially dairy) actually influences interest rates and the value of the New Zealand dollar to the detriment of our IT exports
