Headline: Report on Manukau City Council (Regulation of Prostitution in Specified Places) Bill

Local Government and Environment Select Committee Chair, Nicky Wagner, and sponsor of the Manukau City Council (Regulation of Prostitution in Specified Places) Bill, Ross Robertson, have agreed that the Select Committee report the Bill back to Parliament by 28 March 2014.

“We have been working actively with the Auckland City Council and feel that we are making real progress, but good outcomes take time so it was necessary for the Committee to delay its report-back date to the House,” said Ross Robertson.

“We are looking at a workable solution that will be a major break-through in New Zealand.  These things take careful thought, consideration and deliberation, and I want to acknowledge the work of the Local Government and Environment Select Committee.

“There is no simple solution to this issue, and we want to do what is right for the Papatoetoe community. This is a difficult issue and we are trying to meet the demands of the community for social good,” said Ross Robertson.
