Was playing Meddle last night and this morning. You can’t beat very early Pink Floyd though. Not surprisingly, it’s not the music most Pink Floyd enthusiasts know anything about. From there its a slow drift to commercialism as the counter-culture peters out with Wish You Were Here the last great hurrah. After that it’s a whole other band.
It would be great if there were some contemporary prog rock bands going down the same line (unless I’m missing something).Can’t be bothered Pink Floyd tribute bands though, as that’s just playing for people who never moved on (I like to think I am listening to Pink Floyd with fresh ears).
PS The second line should read “Back in the days when musicians looked effortlessly cool”
