National drowning in an ocean of poisoned milk

It is becoming difficult to keep up with which National Party MP is bleeding the most at the moment. Simon Bridges is being crucified by Whaleoil almost as much as Greenpeace are attacking him, suggesting Cam is seizing the moment to destroy a possible challenger to his Sith Lord Judith Collins.

If a tree falls on Simon Bridges in a forest that he doesn’t remember, does anyone care? Apparently not the blogger who has regular chats with the Prime Minister.

But it surely must be Judith herself who is now in danger of damaging National beyond repair. Why is Key is refusing to move against Collins as her conflict of interest seems to grow by the minute? Finding out that Oravida lobbied National Party Ministers to help with their issues getting milk into the country before Judith then has a dinner with Oravida and a ‘border official‘ is a coincidence beyond possibility.

The problem for Key is that he himself has deep relationships with Oravida. Games of golf, tens of thousands in donations and Oravida using Key in their advertising means any punishment handed out to Collins could impact negatively on Key if Collins decides to reveal how deep Oravida’s influence has within the National Party.

The irony that milk sales to China, which has kept the economy from completely tanking, could end up being the possible ruin of National should be enjoyed by everyone.

  1. What other companies should learn from the Oravida lesson is relationship building with the PM (golf, barbecues, photo op’s etc) and his ministers, appoint ministerial close relatives to their boards and of course don’t forget the National Party standard of donations to the party at appropriate times, but ensure that most are well hidden. Oravida proved its got them a long way. Gee this sounds a lot like some tin pot despot led shit hole from the 3rd world, but hey when in Rome or in our case Wellington, Omaha, Remuera …

I can see it now and its so so predictable, the heat will get to the point where Key will “sack” Collins as minister as per Heatley, Smith, and that political village bike Peter Dunne. But when Key “sacks” someone its code for putting them in cotton wool until the heat dies down and the media’s short attention span is satisfied and bingo ol’ Crusher will be resurrected like the prodigal daughter. Key will think job done and half the electorate will vote for him thinking him decisive and honest. God help us!

  2. What is Collins tweeting about these days? Apparently her tweets were legendary beyond compare? Even Whaleoil read them. How the mighty have fallen….time to cut her loose and promote Simon Bridges, a man who can talk for 7 minutes and 22 seconds without taking a breath, or using “um” or “er” (a Guinness Record ).

  3. Misjudgment Judy a Sith Lord? She doesn’t have the class!

She’s more of a henchbrute – probably Gamorrean – they’re into crushing things – think Miss Piggy gone feral.

  4. What has been coming to the surface re Judith Collins (crushed brain) is nothing sensational at all, it is actually the “normal” in the business and National Party circles. Any person who thinks this is something of an unusual scandal must get his or her head read.

The links between National Party members, and especially the top ones in their hierarchy, and big and not so big business is day to day normality. Mostly they will be smart, cunning and careful enough to hide the cosiness, or to not let the public see too much of it. Here it simply slipped out, so to say.

And you can bet on it, the MSM know more about all these things to, some of their journalists and editors at least. I know from journalists that they cannot write about anything they may come across and may like to write about. There are internal rules and expectations, and limitations. So what we hear and read is just the tiny tip of the iceberg of what is daily occurrence. Most people have no clue about it, and they are not meant to.

This is not the pure, clean, green, uncorrupted country we get presented, it is far from it.

Key and his buddies get top legal advice, and they know how to grease hands of business, and how to get greased, and how to get nice donations for the party, all in the name of “charity” (and like religion, political party activity can be organised and financed as a “charity”, quite legally, under present law).

  5. Fran Osullivan had another take on this though. Interesting and probably a lot more significant for our economy but will be ignored by media, too complex. She questions Keys role as trade negotiator and draws attention to real issues. 1 Fonterra whey powder and infant milk base has remained banned since Botulism scare. 2 Key may just have helped the local Chinese dairy industry by not countering their control of our testing regime. Key probably didn’t read the fine print. Wish journalists would stop whining about David Cunliffes every word and start reporting on the National Party’s mismanagement of trade and bio security. Oh but the Royal couple and John Keys cooking skills are just so much more interesting.
