  1. Where are our politicians condemning the murder atrocities? Are they too busy trying to manage their image? All I’ve seen on NZ mainstream media are attempts to justify the mass murder of women, children, elderly and infirm. Where are our doctors and health professionals, these medical gods, condemning the bombing of hospitals and condemning the snipers shooting hospital staff in the face while they try to save lives?

  2. Also of dishonourable mention is that the Hebrew meaning of the word Hamas has only one singular meaning. Violence. BTW the abbreviation of the words “ Islamic resistance movement “ is HMS. Neat trick eh changing HMS to Hamas!

  3. While the logic of making peace is inescapable unfortunately there is a false prophetic view held by a substantial number of believers that see the restoration of Israel as central to their hope for an eternal future (yes it appears that they don’t give a stuff about others which is the opposite to Jesus teaching). The sad reality is that once people have what they believe is “truth” it is almost impossible to change their minds even with solid evidence.

    1. A false prophetic view that, let’s face it, is held because of the real estate. It’s easier to steal, when you convince yourself that god wants you to.

  4. Nothing justifies genocide, not even genocide.
Who dares deny that Israel is committing genocide?

    1. Innocents do get killed in war.
Sometimes innocents die to end wars, think Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany.
Genocide is the killing of innocents by design not by collateral damage.
Genocide definitely applies in Bosnia, Syria, Dafur ect
Israel is definitely causing civilian deaths by collateral damage.
That does not qualify as genocide
They are targeting the enemy who are using civilians as human shields.

      1. What utter bs. It’s not collateral damage when you drop bombs knowing that you are going kill those that are not to blame. They are not even attempting to avoid civilians really. Now the IDF are producing evidence with suspiciously large English writing on boxes of “supplies”. As I said before I am waiting for the van that’s actually a chemical weapons facility. The IDF point at some bullshit US statement like it’s just so credible. Really?

    2. You don’t know what genocide is. If you did you wouldn’t claim Isreal were commiting it.

  5. The fact that the call for peace is rarely championed anywhere within the mainstream media and the political world, speaks to me, of how corrupt and callous these central pillars of democracy have become….

  6. Mehdi Hasan seems to have been largely sidelined recently by his cable TV employer, MSNBC, which in terms of its foreign coverage, is really just another in the pack/chorus of News outlets that crow US exceptionalism.

    1. Aww, poor Hasan. Has he managed to offend another community besides the gay community. Will he have to issue another grovelling apology? Never mind, the angry, bitter little man is sure to be sought after by al-J the anti+western power house for Islamic exceptionalism.

  7. There is $450billion oil and gas field off the coast of Gaza. Israel cannot claim develop or protect the oil without removing the Gazans. The Oil Curse. https://youtu.be/R_ojjTGJz7w?feature=shared

  8. You hit on the truth there Martyn.
Careful! Some of your fellow travellers might not like it. 🙂

Ask yourself what changed for Hamas to initiate this attack. The answer comes, just as you hinted, in further progress in the Abraham Accords that were brokered by Trump.
Not only had these accords gotten Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, Morocco, Egypt and Jordan signed up, but it was known that Saudi Arabia and Kuwait were also in negotiations.
Such a deal would have been a disaster for Iran, so they had to do something that would have the ‘Arab street’ outraged and become a deal breaker. The aim of the attack was to goad Israel into retaliating in Gaza, hopefully killing as many ‘Palestinians’ as possible. No body in the Middle East really gives a damn about the Palestinians, least of all Hamas, who use them as pawns and human shields.
The real test is how resilient the accords are after the IDF has done its job. Time will tell, but I sincerely hope they hang together.

    1. Iran are a part of BRICS so economically speaking, they are in good place. You do ask a good question, why did Hamas do what they did? As yet, no one has a definitive answer to that question…pot shot guesses is all that is out there.

  9. Genocide
‘the deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular nation or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group’.
    Is Israel guilty of genocide?
    No they are not.
    Could they?
    Certainly.
Could the Palestinian backed Hamas commit genocide they if they wanted to?
    In a heartbeat.

    1. Yep, this is the deliberate killing of a large number of people. Genocide indeed. Throw in wanting to drive them off their remaining land – now – on top of illegally taking ,most of their land already, and yeah, no wonder the locals are not as happy or content as the Israelis and their supporters believe the locals should be.

As for Hamas being capable of committing genocide too, well, Netanyahu and his backers would need to shell out a lot more dollars than usual to them for that to happen. Home made rockets, rpg’s and AK47’s can only get them so far.
