Back in the early 1980s ,in the waipa district farms were not allowed to be subdivided .Farmers wanted to sell off some of the family jewel to buy a nice beach house ,or buy the wife out because she wanted to move to town .That was not allowed so they voted any dopey farmer they could onto council so they could change the rules .
    Now we have lifestyle blocks every where on the most productive land in the country .Dairy herds have vanished for ever along with beef and sheep .We now have thousands of over priced houses scattered all over the country side contributing nothing to the NZ economy .Take away regional councils and the rest of the land will be turned into loss making mines and other shit and the rivers will be gone or so polluted they will be barely flowing .

  2. Tim, do you think there should be a federal constitution for NZ?

    Central government could look after immigration, finance, foreign affairs and defence leaving all the rest to the regions.
