Security stops Act leader David Seymour driving Land Rover up Parliament steps
Act Party leader David Seymour is likely to be in Speaker of the House Gerry Brownlee’s bad books after he drove up Parliament’s steps in a historic Land Rover before being ordered to stop by security.
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said of the incident that he was “not that interested in political sideshows” but wouldn’t comment further, saying it was a matter for Brownlee to address.
Seymour, also the Regulations Minister, was on Parliament’s forecourt this afternoon admiring New Zealand’s first-ever Land Rover, built 77 years ago, that was being driven up the country by members of Drive 4 Hearts, who were raising funding for new heart valve devices for children which don’t need replacing with further surgery.
The same vehicle was brought to Parliament more than 40 years ago and was driven up the steps to showcase its off-road capabilities.
Seymour today sought to replicate that moment and drove the Land Rover up a couple of Parliament’s steps before security quickly intervened.
The manner in which he demands why just won him 1000 new 18 year old male voters!
As much as we all love to hate David Seymour, you gotta give the Devil his dues, he really is one of the best Politicians in the game and the Left AND Right in NZ have hideously underestimated him.
I’ve watched him grow from .7 to 8 and most of that growth has come off the back of his clever use of culture war ammunition that woke middle class work Identitarian Activists have handed him on a golden platter.
Watching Seymour crucify Guy Williams at Waitangi was a gruesome reminder of how quick David is, and this drive up Parliament’s steps is another example of that.
When even the Spinoff is acknowledging Seymour is better than everyone on the Left gives him credit for, you know shit just got real.
The Left will scream (while clutching their pearls) that Seymour be sacked because he drove a car when he wasn’t even allowed to drive a car etc etc etc.
Young men who David are targeting will fucking love him and our outrage at something they see as innocuous alongside the way David handled it will win him fans.
As the only person who has successfully hosted the only Treaty Referendum Bill debate, I know how you handle David, and trust me, this aint it.
Attacking David for things that don’t actually matter is the way to build him up at a time when we need to crush his terrible ideology!
Less outrage olympics, more clever articulation of ACTs dangerous agenda.

As others have alluded to, your definition of politician is pretty narrow and considers all the negative aspects of a politician such as being an attention grabbing, vote seeking, self centred, narcissistic, self serving and populist prick (being polite here) as the norm and what we should judge political prowess as.
It may well be what NZ has become, but not all of us accept such traits are acceptable let alone desirable.
He’s great at stupid pranks and poking his nose into things that are not his concern. Has delusions of grandeur in the ‘Just leave it with me, I’ll get it sorted out’ department.

I know someone whose main priority for the Auckland mayoralty is finding out who will guarantee the continued use of Western Springs Speedway. That’s the level of thinking the left is up against.
Chippy’s sausage rolls and earnest young women candidates don’t appeal to that demographic.
People whose lives are comfy aren’t interested in wider problems that affect most people. They have very small horizons that don’t go further than the nearest cafe in their leafy suburb where the drug dealing is efficiently and quietly run, not so obvious.
Seymour and Luxon might be locking horns but sadly, I think Luxon’s horns have already fallen off and Seymour will win that encounter. It’s just a shame he’s not on the side of most NZders.

His actions withe the security guard shows his utter contempt for a man paid to do a job. They should have let him drive up the steps then we may have seen the back of his gun toting , child harming, worker hating mob he has sitting behind him.

I think we’ve confused the criteria of qualities for jobs in Parliament with the DMS-5 checklist -:
