  1. “Our diaspora are furious and ACT and National’s throw-open-the-borders-and-let-the-free-market-decide-death policy is for them”.

Yeah nah @ MB. Yes, a good many with sour memories of MIQ. Frustrating times. But honestly what could have the Nats / Nats coalition done that was better? A throw-open-the-borders-and-let-the-free-market-decide-death policy? Nah, intelligent people know it was a difficult time, but hey if some feel like a victim feel free. Those in the diaspora who believe in Labour will I suspect continue to do so, no that’s a bit rich; those who have always distrusted the Nats and their cronies will continue to support Labour out of loyalty. Or split their vote with the Greens. Those who have never voted Labour in their life, electorate or list, never will. And the swing voters, well … perhaps they will remember the lottery.

  2. I think Labour will do OK overseas. Speaking to a relative in Australia, Arderns image built on her powerful ability to project ideals remains intact largely because they don’t have the time or inclination to look closer at NZ or the fact that her rhetoric rarely if ever matches the sales pitch. The whole messy Covid management was replicated to some extent or another, in other countries so I can’t see much lasting ill will there.

    1. Brilliant Covid management is why she gets the overseas vote, not hard to understand.

  3. A bit doom and gloom at Daily Blog Towers lately…?

Check the entrails, talk to a few more grey bearded conservative pundits and the answer will be as clear as ever. A year is a long time in politics…if entitled sods who somehow think it is their birthright to roam the globe by air travel as they please are getting hissy–so be it.

All they will be doing with revenge voting is increasing inequality and making the place more of a shit hole for their next return visit!
