  1. Sigh, yes, Frank, that is why this year, I have been buying a Lotto ticket myself virtually EVERY WEEK now. I never used to bother much with Lotto over past years, and only bought the occasional ticket in the odd week or month, now I do it regularly, only for a small affordable amount of money.

But given my circumstances, while I have given up of ever owning my own home, I hope to win at least a little, to get some debt out of my way, as I have had to realise, I pay too much in interest, and it is not getting less, despite of so-called “low interest rates” (which is not what bank and particularly credit card interest looks like).

John Key is responsible for this, he and his government, having destroyed the hopes and aspirations of many of us below the median income threshold, especially those that are actually POOR in income and who have NO wealth.

So as the numbers of us is growing, we need to get motivated and motivate others also, to go voting next year, no matter what, whether it rains or shines, whether we have a bad or a good day, whether we may be happy or not happy with the opposition, we must at least cast a vote for a lesser evil kind of party. I have committed to that, despite of being disillusioned with Labour, there are though some other parties standing, with their candidates. So VOTE, people, that is the last chance we have to stop this country ending up as the casino for the rich from the rest of the world, we may even end up like the Cuba before the revolution, as things are going.

  2. Frank, you’ve epitomized precisely what has gone so terribly wrong with this country.

When people have to hope for a lottery win (like Mike above), things are seriously screwed up.

  3. I can absolutely relate to this Frank, and I know many others who do too. When you look at the stats it’s roughly 90% of wealth to top 15% or so here in NZ and US etc which says it all. It’s not our imagination!

I feel such rage at the moment!! Working full time barely pays, never mind your own home what about affordable rent, my rent increase due soon will push me to the brink of affordability. I know people in tears at work because where they live is being sold and everything is in such short supply/so expensive. It’s extremely stressful and there’s no end in sight.
Esp tough for single parents/single adults, there is just no way to get ahead now. It’s very depressing, and this with uni degree, experience etc etc. Guys at work nearing retirement are disgusted and can’t believe the way things are now. I believe in being positive and always counting ones blessings, we don’t live in a war zone, we have food etc. however where does it end?? If I (and many others) didn’t get working for families etc I couldn’t even live on my full time wage – that’s utterly insane!!

    1. Mike, Priss, ParadiseLost… thank you for your comments. They very much reinforce the observation I made regarding house-ownership now becoming a lottery for so many people.
