  1. Back to the PM and what very much appears to be her broken political radar.

Her unquestioning support of the fool Mallard and getting stuck into people who dare have no confidence in him screams her political radar is broken. Yes, National MP’s never have confidence in anything but on this occasion they’re right. He will continue to be a blight and let’s be honest, he’s always been a tool, but now he has the title “Speaker” behind him, he’s a mini despot. Every day he remains means Nationals stock keep rising.

Then last night a Newshub survey reveals twice as many Labour voters (56 – 28%) and 68% overall think Poto is shit as police minister. Ardern goes into bat for her and her governments record on law and order, which is terrible and getting worse each day. I get this is not Poto’s fault, she was hopelessly ill equipped from the get go but the PM put her there because the law and order focus we see today is the PM’s baby and she felt Poto’s welfare background suited that role better. So very wrong on that count.

When you’re so obviously alienating your own voters but carry on regardless, times up for a government. And our PM is demonstrating she is very out of sorts and has clearly stopped listening.

Is it she has become addicted to focus groups and polling to do the thinking for her? Or maybe she has given up try to win the next election!

    1. Once against you have said it all. Hope next year there is a job at the UN otherwise it will be back to the chippy for Jacinda.

      1. Trevor Sennitt Ardern’s weather eye has been on her global reputation the whole way through. She’s the epitome of kindness where it matters to her. She can make her own choices, that’s fine, but the well-being of New Zealanders should have come first. Her confidence in Mallard suggests that she’s as big an idiot as he is, and that there’s no switched-on adults in her army of advisors.

  2. It’s women’s job to defend men. That’s how it’s always been. We birth them and nurse them, we bury them, and we live on wondering what it was all about. We marry them to protect ourselves from other men and we find we’ve invited the the ferret into the hen house. We continue to cover up for them because that’s what mothers have nearly always done for children, or because we don’t believe our eyes, or we believe that they will change. They don’t, but small boys are totally endearing wee humans, so that it is easy to ignore the ravages of time – or of boozing or smoking or balling – and nurture them as is our feminine nature. The PM is continuing a time-honoured tradition as real women do – stand by your man – and we never really know when they might come in useful…bless them.

    1. Thank you for demonstrating that women can be misogynistic against men too., Snow white.
I bet you are a barrel of laughs at dinner parties.

      1. Keepcalmcarryon. The late Mary Daly, brilliant American philosopher and theologian, wouldn’t allow men in some of her senior classes because she believed that they inhibited discussion. I disagree with that, and I think that she was wrong.

She also posited that when men are present, then consciously or unconsciously, women defer to them, and I tend to agree with that. (Except for the New Zealand Greens, who defy description ). I am famous for my dinner parties, chutneys and pickles, but unlike the PM, I don’t bake scones for visiting UK pop stars or anybody.

        1. I’ll retract my mean comment on the dinner parties forthwith in case you find out you are more a socialite than I am 🙂

          1. Oh golly. I really don’t want to silence you. I have one in-law who contributes zilch to the discourse at my famous dinner parties, and it makes for really heavy eating. Say what you like you old socialite you, just mind your vocabulary in front of the kiddies and always tip the poor underpaid waiting staff when you’re gallivanting about.

  3. Agree that Mallard is a complete arsehole ( and needs to go) but give it a rest on attacking locals that had to put up with this protest and had nothing to do with the decisions. If the protesters were having a go at people for wearing masks, and supposedly freedom of choice was part of the reason they were there, they are full of shit. It seems for every sane person there was a tinfoil wearing Liz Gunn.

    1. Wheel. The locals have been attacked, and the police have been attacked over a protest which was not their fault and not instigated by them, but which they bore the brunt of, not the yellow-livered politicians in hiding.

Ardern didn’t hesitate to comment profusely about the dumb Neanderthal who insulted Nadia Lim, saying he’s insulted all New Zealand women. No he hasn’t. He’s a nobody. He has no standing in our lives. He is irrelevant. Mallard, however is a government office holder, and unfortunately he can and does impact on others’ lives. He got away with bad behaviour at the demonstration, including escalating it, and now the PM has confidence in what appears to be spiteful lashing out at ex-politicians. The PM’s papal blessing doesn’t whitewash Mallard, even if she thinks it does. A more honourable man, and a responsible man, would have resigned after all the trouble he’s caused but she’s got his back.

  4. Get a life Bomber. If any one is leading an anti Jacinda agenda it is you.

    1. Get your head out of the clouds and be with the people less you fall and hurt yourself.

    2. TDB has been fence sitting for years, damning the Parliamentary left with faint praise at best, and welcoming in some pretty dodgy characters who seemed to have slipped their collars from Kiwiblog or worse. It is now leaning over that fence.

Mike Treen, Dave Brown, John Minto and a handful of other occasional contributors still make it worth persevering with.

      1. The Kiwiblog characters are very easy to spot though Tiger…they normally start with ” it’s all Jacindas fault” and they are cowards with multiple name changes.

      2. It’s a fucking chore watching the sockpuppets polishing preslands turds for him every time one opposition nobody ever does anything that this governments cabinet has worked out as an attack angle against their opps

      3. Seriously I just gave less fucks about ideological positioning. My priorities are rebranding food production from convertedand to vertical grow houses in the cities. And jump NZDF from a financialized military to a 22nd century one and tell China don’t build a castle in the Solomons or else.

    3. She’s not the messiah, she’s just a fairly inept politician.

Holding them to account is par for the course.

      (Apologies to Python)

      1. Yeti. Indeed. When she says she has complete confidence in Mallard, I think who does she think she is ?

  5. Maybe if bombs were raining down on the capita as they are in Mariupol, we’d have a different sense of perspective. Well, maybe we wouldn’t.

  6. Gawd, I completely agree with you Bombarino.
I must be getting soft in my old age…:D

  7. Agree Martyn. What a mess.

I am sorry Wellingtonians had to put up with some issues from the protest. But not as sorry as I am for the poor bastards who are in social housing living next door to anti social tenants who abuse and threaten them day and night, cause the labour govt won’t evict them.

The report you mentioned Martyn sites the minority of potentially dangerous people as from Sovereign citizen, anti communist, Maori sovereignty, pike river. No Nazi mentioned specifically

  8. Mallard is a bully and mongrel, the qualities one needs as a speaker especially to deal with nobodies like seymore and bishop. Mallard has been the best speaker I have seen over 50 years. Carter was a conservative, colonial softie who used to salivate over Key when he stood up to speak. The tories dont like to be ordered to adhere to the protocols of parliament so they are punished.
The tories havent released any policies only from their spokespeople hoskings, garner, duplessis, and tory times herald. The tories dont give a shit about the poor, unemployed, Maori, indians, low paid, they only help the rich -all of you right wngers above wouldnt be accepted into the tory party only your votes. I would also imagine you would all be ready to reinstate Keys photo on your mantlepiece instead of the hapless Luxon. How long will he be tolerated making gaffs. He and Willis are light weights. Look for Luxon to give tax cuts to the rich and to invite the property speculators back into the housing market with tax subsidies.

  9. Mallard is a bully and mongrel, qualities you need as a speaker – not limp colonial ponsy like carter was, Mallard best speaker Ive seen/heard in 50 years. Jacinda/Coster/Mallard 10 right wing protest lunatics 0
